You would make more money creating a point of service system for the merchants to process with. A sticker is meaningless without the infrastructure to back it and process with.

1.) Bit-Pay is releasing a brandable POS that runs on smartphones soon.

2.) What you're saying is essentially the equivalent of saying a business shouldn't state "we accept cash" unless they have a state of the art touch screen POS and bill acceptor. (Manual cash drawers are sooo outdated and leave room for egregious error! :rolleyes)  Some businesses just need a cash box and a calculator, some need a basic cash register.

My only qualm is that since these are open source designs, printing them in their unaltered form should be a public service and not a way to profit. I don't think each sticker takes $4 to make, and I may be wrong there, but I certainly know enough stamp(s) to mail a sticker wouldn't add up to 99 cents.

I would say letting him make a buck or two to make it worth his while is reasonable.  If you happen to have a storefront, five bucks for a sticker is negligible.  It's like fifteen minutes worth of rent on the place.)

I do my physical bitcoins and it's hard to strike a balance between charging too much versus finding the motivation strictly on the desire to promote Bitcoin.  I really like Bitcoin and want it to succeed, because my regular work pays significantly more.

If recouping one's costs and getting something in exchange for one's time is unreasonable, nobody would have any reason to invest in the costs of production of things like stickers etc.

I am not sure what to say about that.  Is profit a bad thing?

Do you have a different idea of public domain then I do?

You are the first to complain about overly expensive 99 cent shipping.

You can do it for less if you want to.   I am not sure that other sellers will put out the same quality that I do though.  Mine are not home printed.  They are on vinyl, UV protected for the bumper stickers and squares.

While I am not required, I tend to take the profit from one run and use it for another, so after I sell a bunch of these I am going to move on to a standard white backed sticker for counters and inside. 

Oh, and I give away promotional stuff all the time.  Stuff that promotes bitcoin, not my own store. 

With the bitpay app, accepting bitcoins could be as simple as the back office pc running the client and generating a qr for a recieving address, there's no reason for a store to need a ton of diffrent addresses it would make record keeping a mess.
