Title: Newbie in this field.
Post by: lambosince1456 on June 20, 2018, 04:52:36 PM
Hey, I’m from the Philippines and I heard about the bitcoin sometime around 2015, my father and older brothers are into this, this was recommended to them by my father’s best friend. I really would like to join at that time, however I do not have the capital since I was still a student back then.  Now that I am a little bit financially stable, I guess it’s time for me to invest now, my dad advised me to join this forum that is why I am here, I am hoping to learn how this really works, all I know for now is the basic, I still keep doing my research. Hope you could all help me nurture my interest.  :-*  :-*

Out of curiosity, what did your father/father's friend said to you? Did they told you about cryptocurrencies and the technology behind it, or did they focused on telling you about this forum? If it was about the forum, what exactly did they told you? Was it about bounties/campaigns or as a good place to research about the technology?

If someone asks you why did you join this forum and what did you like about it, what would you say? Please, be honest.

Look for airdrops. They will get you some free coins and you can use them to start trading.
There are a lot of airdrops around, just google for 'airdrop cryptocurrency' and you'll have some points to start with.
Next to that, there are a bunch of guides explaining bitcoin and cryptocurrency trading. Surf around the forum ;-)

You can start by creating your own wallet on coins.ph and start buying bitcoin there if you are financially stable now, it's easy for you to start on making bitcoin as an investment.

There's also https://localbitcoins.com/country/PH where you can buy bitcoin from traders it can be lower than the rate of coins.ph

For now you need a lot of education but since you have some funds. Learn basic things like wallet and exhanges. With this knowledge you can buy and sell and learn to trade your own money if you are serious.

Its easy to get lost in the crypto jungle. I would recommend to start with crypto basics, e.g. what is a blockchain, wallet, Mining, staking, private/Public key etc. Make sure you cover the security aspects (e.g. not keeping coins on an exchange, backing up your wallets) before you move a lot of fiat in.

Wikipedia helps a lot, Loop.net is another good resource.

Good luck

Novice advises you not to buy coins first. A lot of browsing forum posts. Then go to Announcements (Altcoins) to do some airdrops and bounty.
The difference between digital currency and other investment areas is that, in fact, you can make money as quickly as possible without spending money.
Enjoy your digital currency investment trip.

Crypto industry is a definitely exciting place to get involved but one must realise that it is not for everyone so I would recommend you to invest your time before investing your money and try to understand what this thing is all about. As you said that you know someone who is already involved with it, it is a plus point for you and seek their guidance on anything regarding it but when it comes to taking the decisions I would strongly recommend you to do your own research before taking any decision instead of relying on others opinion.

My advice in other thread hope that it can help you. And if you intend to involve in cryptocurrency as investor. You should learn deeply about cryptocurrency economy rather than technical.

First, read this to have an overview look of our forum, rules, FAQ and guidelines:
Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0)

Then, as you claim that You are interested in learning more on blockchain and cryptocurrency. Here are some boards that i recommend for you:
 1. Bitcoin Discussion (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=1.0) Here you can ask any questions, discuss about Bitcoin.
 2. Bitcoin Technical Support (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=4.0) Here you can find the solutions of any problems that you have. Or just create a new topic and raise your questions if your questions with the answers are not available here.

I also see that you invest in Ethereum. Until now we don't have a specific board for Ethereum, because our forum is mainly about Bitcoin, as its initial purpose.
So if youwant to learn and talk about Ethereum, you can go here Altcoin Discussion (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=67.0), This is the Altcoin section so you can talk about any other altcoins beside of Ethereum.

Hope that you will have more knowledge about blockchain and cryptocurrency here.

I am a student as well, and I do not have capital to invest right now but my family does. You can spend some investment on those coins that you think it is common, and stable, like anyone of the top 10 cryptocurrencies. Meanwhile, you may also focus on other coins or ICO which you think they are worth for you to invest on, by supporting their ideas, you can determine by reading some posts about how to review a cryptocurrencies or an ICO, which can definitely give you some inspirations.

Mostly everyone joins this forum firstly for airdrops and bounties. I came to know about bitcointalk when I started doing some airdrops. People may develop a tendency to learn more from different threads of this forum later on but most of us joined here for some free earnings.

yeah, you are absolutely right. I joined here for the same reason but I spend more time in going through different threads of this forum in hopes of learning something useful which will help me survive in this market. If you're jumping in the market without any knowledge and just for making easy money then there are more chances for you to lose rather than gain.

Yeah, airdrops and bounties are good option to start but be careful and cautious as there are lot of scams too. Search on this forum how can you find legit ones and take part in them. They'll give you a good start for the trading and investing.
