I am not yet interested in buying but I will once we come close to $5500 in the coming days (or maybe hours). It will probably be a night without much sleep for traders with everything that's going on right now.

What do you do when bitcoin is down from 8k - 7k - 6k? and for now when it starts to fall more deeper you just want to sell it to buy at a cheaper price.

How does your plan work if you sell everything now & we dip to $5,500 but bottom there & pump to back over $10,000. My advice is to HODL for a few years if you don’t desperately need the money now.

Many users could have done it, because such a price drop even after lots of positive news around the market is something a varied experience. Myself has got plans to hold my bitcoins for a long term, else I too would have got stick to the plan of selling out all my holdings.

Everyone has their own choice. My choice is to hold bitcoin for a long long time. We should not get panic even if the price break the 6000$ level, because bitcoin price has good potential and its rice can recover at any stage. We need just to remain calm and hold and watch the market from time to time, and hopefully we will see the once again trading above 20000$.

It is good you sold yours but hope you won't regret later and beat your chest for selling a valuable item in the near future. Bitcoin like any other asset has it up and down and this does not mean to dispose it off.

Bought @ 1500.

So I don't get the panic.
It's still up over 100% in a year. And far more than that at my buy in.

Call me silly, but that still seems like a pretty solid return. Of course there was going to be a pull back! The price spiked way too high, way too fast. Anybody who thought otherwise was fooling themselves.

Just remember. 90% of traders or more lose their money. And they're all trying to follow the same signals.

The thing is, you'll never be able to know when things are settled. No way in hell will anyone be able to accurately predict when the prices will hit absolute rock bottom. Plus, selling at this point in time seems quite futile, as you're not likely to get much lower prices anyways.

A better decision if you want to cash out would have been to cash out as bitcoin was having its rally up towards $10k or so. The bear market was already established, yet some people still thought that this was the turning point towards another bull market.

But anyways, I believe that it's starting to become the accumulation stage. Start buying using dollar cost averaging, and hold for the long term. That's the primary strategy imo.

Simple, he will see BTC going up, he will say it's just a dead cat bounce, when it hits 20 000 the FOMO will start kicking and he will end up buying at 50 000$ and then spend a year crying in doomsday threads like this one.

I'm not expecting a huge drop, but if I sell at 6000 and buy back at 5500, then that is still more money for me.  And more money for me is more money for me.

Selling is going to make the price become worse and I am curious about how you know the best time to comeback, many people only know theory, but the market is not that easy to predict, if you want to sell your coin it's your choice but don't drag other people

If most holders will do what OP is suggesting then surely we will see the big downfall and it will turned that he figure it correctly, I'm not saying that it will not happen but we can avoid it to happen, if most of small holders will also try to hold from their position and allow this bear to passed over, we know by the fact that the value depend on how the market react, I'm still positive that after this we will see the bounce back.

The decision whether or not to sell their bitcoins depends upon the goal of each investor and their understanding in the current market. Just because the prices went down (which is a common scenario/phenomenon to bitcoin) does not equate to its continuous price decrease. One must study the market thoroughly and understand the current news in order for you to derive into such conclusion.

Another thing, that kind of mindset would only lead you to your downfall as an investor. Rule of thumb: only sell your coins at a price higher from what you acquired them initially. If you bought your coins at a price higher from what is offered currently, then it is highly suggested that you wait for another time or consider before selling your coins.

People sell when the price is dropping, and you wonder why they come here bitching that they're losing money.  If you can't afford to keep your money in crypto through the bad times, you probably shouldn't be in the game at all.  Disclaimer:  I currently own next to nothing as far as bitcoin is concerned, and I'm a firm believer that one shouldn't gamble with money that should be going toward living expenses and bills.  That's another mistake I see a lot of folks making here.

Sell your bitcoin if you want to, some of us didn't buy for the lowest price of bitcoin, so maybe they can't sell their bitcoin today just like what you did or if they do it, it might get lost some of their profit if they do it.

Well this a good strategy, sell your bitcoins while it is not go so low  and wait when it is the last dip then buy bitcoin. The only problem if you sold your bitcoin is when bitcoin value will not go down anymore instead it go up suddenly when you sold your bitcoin. Then you gained more lost in buying new bitcoins.

By “settled”, I think he means when the price hits the bottom which is pretty hard to determine. No one can actually say when the price hits bottom, then goes up again. With this kind of bear trend, it’s even possible for the price to go lower so we can’t even say for sure that now is a better time to sell and buy then tomorrow. I agree that OP is just creating FUD especially for those who entered early.

OP, this decision to sell is only your decision and has nothing to do with other bitcoin holders or investor, don't come here to create FUDs. And somehow, I doubt this your story, you sell when the price is drastically low, which means you loss your profit. Whoever tell you that the next price of bitcoin will be low enough for you to buy or quite affordable for you to buy, don't be too sure.

He hasn't even sold anything. He's just trying to make newbies feel uncomfortable, but gladly even newbies can see that current levels are a welcome buying opportunity. I like how the sentiment here has become way more bearish now the price dipped well below $6000 today. Too many people were of believe that the price would return back to $20,000 this year. If we look at the winning strategy of this year, then it's definitely betting against the sentiment. Going long might be a bit too early for some people, but at least it grants you a great long term position if the short term turns out to be even more bearish. Let's see where this goes.

Honestly, anybody offering investment advice is an idiot. If you are so fiendishly clever with your investing, you wouldn't be giving it away for free. You would make a handful of trades, and retire to the Bahamas.

you can't predict exactly when the crash will happen. You should have made a nice little profit after their most recent run-up, but if you don’t sell them before they crash, you’ll lose all of your money.

P.S. For savvy investors looking where to put their money next: The entire crpyto market is worth over three-quarters of a trillion dollars as of writing. When these markets crash and all of that value disappears, there’s going to be a recession. Recessions are categorized by a drop in available liquid assets, and thus a drop in spending, so $750,000,000,000 disappearing should just about do it. When all of that money disappears, lots of people are going to be defaulting on loans and cutting back spending, which will result in job losses and further spending cuts.

Currently the bitcoin value is below, so what to sell when it only gets a loss and I think the decline has ended. so we need a little patience and this should be our time to buy.

What support do you have that it will continue to go lower or is it your gut feeling? When did you bought those coins? Did you have profit when you sold it or you already lose half of its value? I don't think it is just enough that just because you saw many negative news about it the price would go lower. The aim for me is to lose as little as possible when trading so as much as possible cut your loss when the price didn't go your way at a percentage loss you are comfortable taking. You may be right of selling it and buy back lower but the price is already up now so we don't know yet if it would go down more or may be start of going back up again.

Hope you are a panic seller and suggesting everyone to panic sell their investments in Bitcoin. This is not the right time to sell and this is the perfect time to buy Bitcoins or any other coins, I would suggest you to hold your coins for another couple of months to get maximum profit.

Panic selling always create problems, we should encourage the investors to continue holding their bitcoin, and should not sell in such a low price, from where they cannot get anything without a big lost, i think that if they will continue holding their bitcoin after some time they will surely recover their lost and will instead of a big lost will convert it into profit.

So you owned Bitcoin and then you bought government notes in exchange for your assets.    You are now hoping the government can resist the urge to print too much money to pay its debts.   If you are in Venezuela you just made a big mistake, they will cause you losses for holding cash.

If you live in USA or most of Europe you will also lose most of your cash over a decade and a few percent at least in the next year.

A better idea then just selling is to use the Bitcoin, hold it with a gambling firm perhaps.  Some of them pay a yield.    There are a few possible uses or you could pay off your house debt I suppose, thats a real return and reduces your bills.   Just plain holding cash, is poor timing when interest rates are so poor and the world has so much debt

I think this is the lowest price for bitcoin, I'm sure the market will recover though slowly and there seems to be no sharp decline anytime soon, which is why I still hold my bitcoin and will not sell it just to wait for the big drop to happen again and buy more lots of bitcoin.

Yes of course. For me panic selling is not the best solution for this downtrend of price. It would only result to continuous dipping of bitcoin's market value. But we cant control some investors and holders to immediately sell off their coins in times like this. And when this bearmarket ends only those who have patience are the winners.

He did not sell at the top, at least, when the reversal at around $10k was imminent, but now deciding when there is a possibility of a short reversal to the upper side before the downtrend continues. It is a pity that some people do not have trading knowledge but still they end up trying to make foolish decisions when they should just simply hold and possibly buy more at dips. He is free to sell as no one is forcing him not to, but he should sure know that it is a lot of insane decision to be selling the market at the bottom at least. Well I dont think it is a good idea. Maybe if it is a bit higher maybe I will and then I will buy it again when it dropped so low. But the situation is different so I wont do the same. Its your choice, face the consequences. Dont make us sell our bitcoins just because you already did. Dont let others panic like how you did. You could try timing that buy perfectly. More likely than not though, you're going to see that you'll try buying in at lower rates thinking that this is not the final correction coming in BTC's way, and miss out on the true bottom and potentially have to buy on the way up.

That risk is something that I personally don't like taking. Which is why I'm holding onto my position because of the fact that prices can't go much lower than it already is (there will be a ton of buying pressure at $3-4k most likely), and also, if I do sell now, I gain pretty much nothing.

Never go with the crowd sentiment. The popular sentiment right now is panic selling, which means that prices are overly dumped and undervalued. If BTC goes lower than it already is, I'd actually be prepared to buy instead of sell.

I hope you like losing money because that is what you have done to yourself, this is why I do not understand when people say they lost money because of bitcoin, that is incorrect, they lost money because of their decision to buy when the price is very high and then sell when the price is very low.

You find it difficult to hold looking upon the gradual price drop without any signs of growth for a long. Same time people who have been holding long expecting good return on their investments and missing the ath keeps on holding with patience expecting good growth to take place. If you think that trading will make you earn more profit right now like selling all your bitcoins then just sell it, the market's volatility will be always the reason why cryptocurrency is very profitable but i prefer holding my coins as of the moment because there is too much drastic changes in the market today.

If you actually get him clearly, it is not like he is trying to give the theory of the value not going down lower, but the thing here is that selling now after holding for long already is pretty much a terrible mistake since there could still be a possibility of a short reversal anyway before we even get to hit the $5k probably. Going long now is not the case, since what we are talking is not leverage but in terms of real asset selling, buying or holding and he sure do have a point.

Cryptocurrency is not for you if you are easily taken by all those negative news and black propaganda against bitcoin. If you sold your bitcoin today then good for you. You bought it and i think you were at losing end either way.

Its your coins and your decision to sell it but you cannot expect that everyone will start following you as negative news and rumors will always be a part of bitcoin community and if you are getting carried away so easily then bitcoin is not the right place for you to invest your money and you should think of alternate investment as people who have faith in bitcoin will hold their bitcoins for long term without selling it now.

The point at which he has decided to sell is not even the best chance right now. He had all the chance to get out of the market during the downtrend and now that we are getting pretty close to the downward trend is pretty much a huge one.

I do not expect the market to just keep going down in a huge spree anyway, which brings me to the conclusion we might actually see a quick jump upward for a short term, looking at the way the chart is playing out. Hopefully in the short term, he does not regret that decision.

I already do that a few months ago and now this is a perfect time to buy bitcoin at a cheapest price because as I observe recently the price are going down because of any bad news appears so I sell mine immediately.

now is not the right time to invest because the market is not yet stable. anyway if i want to save for long term i think it's the right time to buy bitcoin. you can sell if the price is back to the top point. one of the uniqueness of bitxoin is hard to guess when the price will rise or fall

It is really sad but this is the truth, all of those that sell their bitcoin right now are going to regret it, the price is very low and most people bought when the price was very high and they are experimenting losses and as such they will complain very loudly when bitcoin grows and they do not have any bitcoin left.

Don't feel sorry for anyone selling at current levels. It's up to them to feel sorry -- don't make their problem your problem. On top of that, most people stating that they have sold are just trolling to make you feel bad as holder. It's the usual dose of expected negativity during bearish market cycles. Good for you because you do keep your faith on bitcoin . i do also agree with you when you say that buying bitcoin is still a good idea because its value is still pretty low but in my case i did not oftenly buy or invest in bitcoin but rather i only join bounties to collect some coins that i can possibly hold to be able to earn more profit in the future.

I agree with both of you and I actually apply this as well. Urgent necessity is the only thing which can make me withdraw money during bearish days, nothing other than that; and I think others should be too. We should only sell our coins with valid and justifiable reasons not only because we are threatened by price dips. Well the price of bitcoin is crashed so hard since January 2018, hopefully we can see a good raise price in the rest of the months in this year 2018. Actually i also sold all my bitcoins like 1-2 weeks ago and i'm waiting to buy back again bitcoins when the price is good to buy.

Thanks for the advice I know there are a lot of people spreading FUD in the forum and that are actually traders or long term holders just trying to scare people away, I do not have a lot of bitcoin, but I have enough so when the price recovers and goes even higher it could change my life for the better.

Why I sell it if I see that bitcoin now is growing. Maybe your just don't have believe in bitcoin that's why you sell your bitcoin in low price. Unfortunately that's just how the emotions play that's why most likely people always do the opposite about the trading advice of buy low and sell high. What happen is that people would buy when the price is high hoping for further push upwards and then when it goes down, they would sell so what happens is panic selling and end up to more losses. OP sold his coins when the price is around $6,000 and maybe he bought now when the price is $7,500 when he should have done the opposite.

Then we should not expect a high and better market value if we follow negative news which affect investments and decisions like affected your decisions and of many like you.

As for the selling part, I would never sell at this time. The market was down and it's about to recover. BTC price is expected to rise very big so why would you sell now?

Selling your bitcoins today is a very bad idea because you will just lose a huge amount of your investment, cryptocurrency will pump up again and all you need is more patience today.

Selling all of your bitcoins is the worst thing you can make in the current situation because in this way you will be losing a huge amount of profit in the future so the best thing to do is just hold your coins and higher your patience.

Anyone selling now should better have a good reason to be selling because if it is as a result of panic, they are really going to be making a terribly huge mistake. This is what usually happens to people who did not make prior research before investing to bitcoin and just getting with the hype about it. Waiting for a much lower price where in fact you don't know how the market will move, makes it a 50-50% so better just grab the change you have at the moment and don't regret whatever happens.

Well, the OP sold his bitcoin during the red market out of panic or just want to spread some negative news about this market encourage everyone to sold also at a loss. If he keeps on holding with his coin then selling it right now can make good profit for the OP. A post like this should not be followed by any investors.

That person really don't understand of what is crypto life and how it works. He is just trying to create fuds and encourage some newbies to be in his side. I appreciate your idea of selling all your bitcoin right now and waiting for a much lower price, but I think the bitcoin in the future will be more likely to increase, and if you sell all of it you will lose your chance to make a profit.

bitcoin is not for the ones who are fearful for prices it wont work in that way so when there is good price it is better to sell but dont sell all ur coins hold some coins

We had different opinion on how we can sell our bitcoin. But I am not into selling all my bitcoin than regret later. Currently price of bitcoin had an increase so exactly sell when price pump not when drops.

Every person has their own choice and my choice is to hold my bitcoin for a long long time, i am not going to sell my bitcoin in near future but going to hold it for next 4 to 5 years. i am hopeful and expecting that bitcoin investment will surely give me a very good profit after some time because still bitcoin has too much potential to increase its price.

I am pretty sure that you weren't here in this world before because bitcoin had the same issue many times before and as you can see bitcoin even skyrocket at $20,000. Correction is now over and bitcoin is now gradually reviving hence there's nothing to worry about but rather take it as opprtunity to buy now before it become too late.

Nah! Since bitcoin has turned its market price down, i am really holding it and i am really into it for holding it for a year or few years. Even bitcoin has climbed back now, i am still discarding it because i believe there's a bigger profit waiting for me in the future.

I have seen this behavior in the past as well, people invest in this market and they lose money and instead of accepting that they were the ones to make the mistakes they blame the market and become bitter about it, and then they try to make other people take bad decisions as well and make them lose money.
