i know sirius has said he wants to keep this forum banner-free, but i'd still visit just as much if there was a random 468x60 banner just above the search box in what is currently empty space.

rather than be offended by advertising, i do see it as a way to find out about bitcoin-related sites that i would have otherwise missed.

and surely the money would be good for the forum's hosting, etc.

thoughts? other banner options? (actually a 728x90 at the bottom of each page would be fine with me too).

What would we spend the money on? Our hosting is being freely provided by Mark of MtGox, and the donations are enough to pay for new forum modifications.

Most of us only see the ads we want to see (adblock) so I doubt it would hurt at all.

hookers and blow? the forum doesn't have to be non-profit.

yea i dont see any adds on any site thankyou firefox so it doesnt really matter to me

I am ad blind so wouldn't care, I'll go so far as to suggest 728x90!

I know I personally would just move to offer other other bitcoin related forums, they being said if the market place had a section for actual vendors where only operating bitcoin businesses could post...

I don't think it would change my frequency, but i would be a tad concerned with security, it isn't rare to see reports of malware being distributed via ad networks...

it wouldn't change my visiting frequency.  However, I run ad blocking software so I'd never see it anyway
