Title: Who do people dump tokens below ICO price and how can this be stopped?

Recently, a lot of ICOs are getting hit by people dumping tokens below ICO price. Some attribute the cause to bounty hunters while others blame it on excess pre-sale bonus. Who do you think is responsible and how can this be prevented?

The investors neither the ICO team is the reason why the prices of ICO tokens are being dump once it is listed on crypto exchanges. Bounty hunters and airdrop participants is mostly the reason why ICO tokens are being dump below on it's ICO price. I think it can be prevented if the ICO's team will minimize their allocated amount on bounty rewards and limit the people that may participate in their airdrop program/s.

When the ICO token is listed on some crypto exchange, there`s zero demand for that token.
Some of the token holders are dissapointed, because they have the false expectation that the token price will skyrocket right after the token is listed on some exchange, but it just doesn`t happen,so they just want to sell fast.Having many sellers and close to zero buyers is a recipe for every big price dump.

This basicly sums it up. The law of supply and demand is present in every market and crypto is no different. The only thing I would like to add is that there are situations when the listing on an exchange is somewhat later in the year and then new demand turns up or ICOs that were sold out fast, so there is still demand for the coins.

Private investors are more likely to be blame in dumping of prices for the reason that they have accumulated a lot of discounts during private sale. Well in the current market status today, moon is just an illusion.

A likely explanation is that the very low market price is the result of market situation as a whole. As I still remember, last year, investors were eager to buy new coin/ token when it's listed in exchanges because investors had small chance to buy in ICO duration. And the result is that people didn't take care of bounty hunters or excess pre-sale bonus as you said. Well, everything has changed seriously and there is a small chance that the situation will improve in the middle term.

The bearish market contributed to the dumping of coins below ico price ,but that not 80% withstanding ,if you watch what is happening on the market you will find out that many coins have no working product for example if a telecommunication company has a coin it lunch there is every possibility that one the demand for its service increase, the price of the coin will increase thereby inducing buy plus hold methodology which is the backbone of keeping the price of coins at a reasonable price. To make the matter worse, some developers are cashing out to the extent they don't care on how to creat a product using blockchain technology to attract investors by making investors or patners to key into its blockchain technology.

For most tokens it is reasonable decision to dump at any price because the token must worth very little. Lots of tokens now worth no more than a obvious scam coin in the market.

In my opinion, this is a general psychological instability of investors at this stage. Even the altcoin or bitcoin in the market. That is being influenced by panic, FUDs have shaken the confidence of investors. Can not blame anyone. This is a general trend in the market and a positive signal about their confidence will return when the market recovers.

Prevented? We wont able to stop such thing. Either ICO investors and Bounty hunters are both dumpers since we do know investors would always aim for profits but there are instances that they dont able to gain profits because the price hit up below ico price which is already happening nowadays on most project prices when it  launches on exchangers. If you are a bounty hunter then normal you wont really wait up for the price to dump because of investors which you would definitely sell out asap before others will dump. The earlier the better amount will be gained and you should get used to it.

People dump because they only have a little trust for the token. Usually, most who dump after an ico or after a coin is being listed in an exchanger are bounty hunters and airdrop participants. The coin might also have a small amount that's why they sell it too early.

Remove premining of ICO tokens and the huge discounts during ICO pre-sale, limit the amount a single person can spend to buy a token and spread the the distribution of tokens over a long period of time. If you do all these you just might stand a chance of frustrating possible dumpers!

No, it was already present even on the past and not just on these recent ICOs.
It's already a standard/common scenario in which most people speculates that there is a dump after the token/coin release.

On my personal experiences, dumping happens after..
1. Token release to the users wallet
2. After a pump - in result of adding in an exchange

You can't stop it. Only ICO's team can, locking tokens for a period of time.
Who enters in presale or bounties usually sell tokens just when they get listed to monetize their profit.

I think some ICO companies prevented it by not listing on exchanges yet.
They let investors know a little more about them and also the new ones.
I have seen some who did it.

It cannot be due to bounties, that is just a little portions. It might be from the bonuses just like you said.
But there is a catch. The ICO must hit the exact price when listed or else they will be forced to hold.

Usually, after the listing, the price of the bounty of the hunters will be dumped and also from those investors who are disappointed in the project

1- 0 bounty, 0 airdrop
2- team token locked for long period (like year)
3- generate huge hype paying celebrities in eth for adverising (not in ICO tokens)

Like docademic. It was hyped by john mcafee and from ICO price 0.000035 ETH hit exchanges with 0.000047 ETH droped to 0.000025 ETH to pump to 0.00013 ETH. It also droped a little but not 80% like most of icos. Only huge hype will stop price from falling. There must be demand from the first days to avoid even single investor to doubt. And hype payed to 2000 bounty hunters for 10% ICO coins will not work.

You guys also need to consider that whale can push price -80% making false valume trading with himself to show you guys that everyone is selling to make you sell your coins. In this scenerio he can buy some of coins from ICO and rest with 80% discount for few mil and then pump this coin knowing that noone will dump him caus he has all coins. Alfter +1000% he will slowly distribute tokens to investors jumping into fomo.

Because no one now buys in ICO, everyone buys in pre ico presales and private sales :)

Are you sure about that ? If no one's buying in ICOs then these tokens shouldn't be distributed in the first place because soft caps won't be reached.

If your token is worth holding most people will still hold and many will buy more. That's how the whole thing is meant to be. Better to have a great project and make people see reasons to hold & there would be no need to scream that your coin is being dumped.

Lest I forget, also make sure to continuously improve your product(add better features/ incentives) else people will get bored.

Usually the people dumping on the exchanges are those who were paid out by airdrop or bounty campaigns, I think one of the best ways would be to pay out the bounty and airdrop participants in stages, e.g. 1/10th per month for 10 months, that way you don't get the complete dump on the exchanges that happens with many ICOs. Of course, if an ICO was genuinely outstanding, not even the bounty/airdrop participants would want to dump on the exchange, so could always just improve the quality of the platform to prevent this.

Definitely right!

This thing do already happen since the beginning of those ICO launchers where its normal for investors to dump out their tokens to secure out profits and some of them do have that indicator where they should sell on news or any updates regarding listing, release main net or any other related stuffs.

One way would be to institute a lockup period. Stop offering the enormous discounts for pre-sale ICO and then the value of the tokens is held intact.

Prevented ? I don't think it can be .
Because being decentralized there is no norm of that sort , if a centralized body can genuinely control the amount. Of time ( minium ) a person has to hold the tokens and after that only they could sell it then it would have been a completely different thing, but then again it's your money and you won't ever want anyone else to gain control of it .
If there are any personal reasons and everything , there is nothing that you could do to prevent it.

I think there's a way to stop this. It's not hard if the project team intervenes. We know , the token distribution will take place as well as the bounty hunter. And after the token is listed on the exchange , everyone can sell them. So the bounty hunter usually sells them is normal. What needs to be done is the reward management team will distribute the token after they' ve been on the exchange for a while. Token has been created price by previous investors. This is restricted to dumping

In my own opinion, dumping of ico's coins after it was been released in the market cannot be prevented because the market prices are all based on supply and demand so obviously, the coin will immediately drop if most of the bounty hunters will be planning to sell their coins immediately in order to earn profit.

Of course many people also want to sell their tokens to the bounty because for the first time you will sell this expensive amount.THIS falls when many people who have not been able to sell their tokens most dump their tokens are bounty hunters.

Indeed a good point but what about the investors dumping? It's sound ironic but yes sometimes investors are the one who are eager to dump their coins even below ico price. Though apparently, they lose trust to the project and don't mind if they'll have losses. That's why now even a promising project is struggling to touch the ico price once it's listed because of this however if the team and product are really great then it will happen sooner.

Many people or investors dump tokens or coins   below icos price out of panic and some do this because they are bounties hunters who did not invest really cash.  If you put in money you will think twice before selling below your investments cost.  I believe that this can be stop if bounties earnings are locked down for a year or if bounties hunters are paid in bitcoin or ethereum.

There's nothing you can do when people who bought on ICO price started to sell their tokens. Who do not want an easy money. It's hard to stop them. That's why it's up to team of the ICO how they distribute those tokens. Some ICOs giving large portion of their supply to their bounty programs which i think the reason of sudden drop of the price. Anyway, this is normal. Sell out always happen to any coins/tokens in the market. Distribution of tokens should be equal. So the price won't be easily drop. But this is not gonna happen. It's because of whales are buying huge percentage of the supply. The ICO team should distribute evenly and they should set a maximum amount that investor should get.

I believe that the price below the ICO is reduced exactly by those people who received bonuses during the purchase and they lose nothing from this.

Dumping the Tokens of the particular ICO Project below the ICO's Market price is not good for any project work because it will lead to worst business effect for the ICO team and to their CEO and management team. This kind of practice is mostly made through excess of pre-sale bonus or excess of tokens distributed through bounties and by many other methods. This can only be prevented by good project concept along with strict project plan and good management, it all depends on how well the project is been managed otherwise, it is sure that the project is expected to incur a loss.

Everything is responsible from those extra % discount given on the pre-sale and the bounty hunters itself. They have no reason to keep their tokens if they see higher prices as compared to others because they are here to earn profits and they will earn it no matter what because thats the their primary goal here.
You check any ICO in the market, as soon as it gets listed over the exchanger then it will have that surge of people who will dump the coin very hard. You cant do anything about it. But if you really wanna make hot profit then you stay in it for longer time and you will see your investment getting 2x-5x the ICO price as the development take place.

The main reason why tokens are being dumped and go below the ICO price is because the investors want to take their profit. PROFIT PROFIT PROFIT!!! Especially if the ICO has a huge bonus like 30% or more, what most likely to happen is it will be dumped.

Bounties and airdrops causing the price of the token to go below the ICO price too. Airdrops in an ICO is an automatic dump for me. Some can regain the ICO price but it will take a long time to reach it again.

it can't be stopped and in my opinion it was happened because when the tokens listed to an exchange then the price usually not stable even some of tokens are more likely to pump and normally the investors want their money back instantly and when they see the price of tokens are high then they will starting to sold their tokens with automatically the price will dump because sell support are pretty much high than buy support

Part of the reason is from pre-sale. But that is not a main reason when the number of pre-sale tokens of some ico is blocked. It is worth mentioning here that there are too many ico, ico almost no value. So no one wants to hold it, selling on the exchange to return their money is normal. The best way to prevent this is to not be involved icos at the moment, to buy under the ico price is a good way

You should include the private investors as well as their advisors for dumping the tokens well it depends on their deal and the locking periods of their tokens they usually got the most favorable bonus and discounts in some cases the team itself dumps their own token, for the bounty hunters the dumping effect should be minimal if the pools of their rewards are small, you can't stop them and it's their freedom to sell, buy or hold you forgot the airdrop dumpers OP.

Most of the dump is caused by bounty hunters and airdrop participants. They dump it to get Bitcoin in exchange of the tokens. Only the ones who believe in the token hold it for long and rest all are the dumpers. This can be prevented if the ICO limits the bounty participants to sell their tokens. They can limit the number of transactions or withdraw amount to an extent so that they don't dump all of it together in the market. I have seen many potential coins getting a disastrous start due to this reason. This is why I take my time before investing in any coin.

Investors itself. I will ask you this, what is your primary motive when you do make investment with ICO or projects? Im sure most investors would definitely say up for "Profits" and only a few would able to tell that they do support the project because of its concept and its potential. Therefore, most of them would dump out no matter what would be the price. Pre-sale investors will definitely took advantage on this one since they do have the biggest bonus on that particular time.

Yes most investors indeed find only profits. When they think they already got good profit they will sell for profit. Earlier investors and bounty hunters are the people behind the dump I guess.

There is no solution to this. Most of the ico do a bounty campaign which gives many users on this forum a lot's of token, for them they don't care about the project future nor they care for the ico price. As soon as it get's listed they straight away dump it and any price which causes a panic and all investors start dumping it

We are not entirely entitled to blame the bounty hunters, as they also market the coins until ICO successfully enters the Exchange.

Probably as good as his Developer Team can minimize the bonus given to Bounty Hunter, because just in case of something like this.
ICO Team and Developer = 99%
Bounty Hunters = 1%

It cant be avoided any token or coin will dump but lower in the ico is in demand its both presale and bounty. If i am a presale investor and i have a profit in current price while i saw there are not much demand i would sell as well of being a bounty if i sense a dump i will sell but if it was high with support then both of them will hodl.

This is good for the market. Seems the majority of buyers are flippers anyways, so this should stop them from flipping. ICOs are getting hurt duo to constant flipping (even legit ICOs). Every time I join slack or discord people try to list those coins into more exchanges to create a pump or try to shill to pump it. Hopefully this will end.

it can not be prevented or stopped Most of the bounty hunter is not a trader, we can not stop them from selling their bounty result because some bounty hunters just want money fast no matter how much they earn because they are not traders who can hold coin in long term, the cause could be because their bounty made their main income causing to receive a salary quickly in terms of selling when listed in the market, but this does not apply to bounty hunter who is also a trader they must choose the project they follow and see the potential from the coin that caused them to hold the coin for a long time and of course the bounty was just their side so it didn't burden them

The one who receives the big bonuses during the ICO invests a lot of money into the project. Members of the bounty receive a maximum of 1-2% of the sold tokens. Therefore, the sharp decline in prices is influenced by people who bought coins at a low price.

The one who receives the big bonuses during the ICO invests a lot of money into the project. Members of the bounty receive a maximum of 1-2% of the sold tokens. Therefore, the sharp decline in prices is influenced by people who bought coins at a low price.
All ICO projects after the end will distribute tokens to everyone. After being listed on the exchange and the price of the token will depend on the market trend. Very ICO projects have failed because the token price has dropped 10 times the ICO price

Well obviously the people selling are the ones who told you how great their coin was. ICO is a synonym for scam. The alt was never actually worth anything. No one knows that better than the people who create ICOs. Which is why they sell them to get bitcoin. The whole process is about getting bitcoin, because bitcoin is worth something.

Do you really suppose that bounty hunters are so strong to affect in prices sufficiently? I do not think so. Of course, bounty hunters usually decrease prices a little by selling their tokens and coins but I am absolutely sure that they are not able to manipulate prices significantly. Look at major altcoin, nearly all of them are in stagnation or downtrend but it is evidently that bounty hunters cannot lead the major altcoins downstairs because they do not have an enough capital. Consequently, the bearish state of market is the reason why altcoins are going down. I think we should not blame bounty hunters because they are so "small" traders to affect on market significantly.

Most of the token now who are already listed to the market are below to the ICO price. They have a lot of reason I think like other bounty hunters if they got token and listed they sell it and the price dump and other reason is the investor because they want to earn profit.

Once the ICO tokens are being listed on crypto exchange/s, we can't avoid the situation where the bounty hunters and airdrop participants sell their tokens in a price lower than the ICO status. We can't blame them if they will do it because they are the one who worked for those tokens as a rewards. I think in order to avoid it, is we must regulate the tokens they must sell.

I think its because these people are afraid to keep them for long term and dropping them straight away and its also a way to make quick but sure cash.

Selling of tokens by bounty hunters right after they received it from ICO is uncontrollable even if it is below the ICO price. They are maybe afraid that the price might go down further that's why they are selling all their tokens for a sure money. Thus, for me dumping of tokens can't be stopped.

its either they are afraid or they dont care what is the price of the coin they are holding. It is is not about the pre sale it is really about the bounty hunters who dump their coin whatever that reason is, bounty hunters are those who dont care what the price of the coin they are holding in the market.

Yes alot of tokens now that tradeable on the market going down to below ICO price , even token that has working product and listed on the biggest exchange. I dont know what the reason but i think this happening cause the market crash, and should be the team developer take responsibility with buy back program and burn the tokens to reduce the supply  that token so the price has potential to going up.

I do not understand why blame the bounty hunters. It is the guilt of all those involved, including the project managers. The law of supply and demand applies. If the project is not a potential one and the potential investors do not trust the project team, they certainly will not invest. So reward hunters are forced to sell their rewards because they have worked and want to choose with some money. After all, time and work mean money.

The blame on bounty hunters is becoming too much. Do you think of whales at all? Bounty hunters in all only hold at most 2% of the total supply which will not significantly drop the price below ICO. Stopping it is impossible as people feel insecure when it comes to their investments in crtpro space.

Indeed most of ICO alocated less than 10% from total supply for bounty hunter and regardless blaming them because dumped the coins i think you were correct here that behind all of it there was several people who manipulated the price but very different if bounty hunter and the investors dumped the coins at the same time that i think this also will have strong influence to the price too but i think this is will never happened if people believe in the projects and dare to be the holders

Maybe bounty hunters could add the problem about dumping the market price of the tokens. Somehow it is not only the bounty hunters to be the reason for this instead there are several investors who knew that the project will not go well and will dump their token holdings. As we all know that investors has the largest contributions for this dump for they are holding relatively huge tokens in their wallet.

Bounty hunters rewards are only composing of more or less 3% of the token sale so if all bounty hunters will drop then probably it will not go beyond that 3% of the market price drop. However, some of the ICO projects drop their token price to almost 20%. Again, the investors are the main reason for the dump and not the bounty hunters and airdroppers.

Well said but I wont blame bounty hunters in this case as they are free to do what they want once they received the tokens. Without a doubt 90% or more hunters will sell the tokens once it is listed on exchange which is reasonable as they were working to promote  so they want something in return which is nothing else except money.
Real investors and holder should not he affected by the little dump made by bounty hunters, if they are affected then it will get even worst dump. The real dump comes from big sell order which is only possible being made by big holder and investors.

in my opinion, the only way to stop this is to make the ICO system KYC, so every new project that wants to make an ICO and make a project on behalf of that, must register a legitimate company (KYC) to avoid ICO scams

How would you prevent people then to stop dumping when you are doing KYC. I don't think it would stop them in selling their coins below ICO price even if they do KYC. People would still sell because most likely, they want to exchange their coin as soon as possible due to the trend that the prices go down more after sometime. They just want to sell again.

If you are talking about bounty hunters dumping their coins, most of them are dumping it because they can exchange their bitcoin or ethereum to fiat by selling the tokens. To stop it, the coins should have a lock in period so that they cannot easily dump it upon listing.

Generally, we can see that sales are started when the people we call bounty hunter as a result of intensive sales and investors get a satisfactory profit margin. When a lot of sales are made, the price is indirectly falling, and this price decline has a new effect on panic sales. For this reason, we can easily say that the prices have been continuously declining and falling below the ICO price.

Every trader has a dream to hold top cryptocurrencies they don't have any intentions to hold new altcoins, so that is why they dump their tokens in exchange of top cryptocurrencies like ETH or BTC etc. These traders can be bounty hunters and early investors who contributed during private or pre-sales & got huge bonuses. The best way to protect the dumping of tokens would be that the ICO team should lock the tokens of private investors & Bounty hunters for a certain time period. Only tokens for those investors should remain unlocked who contributed during a normal token sale as these traders won't be selling in a loss.

I don't see how kyc is going to prevent people from selliing their coin, it's the people's right to sell the coin that they own, there is nothing that we can do if the people want to sell their coin despite the price is low, and most of the time people will sell as long as they already make profit, because ICO price tends to go down really fast

This is really the hard truth that some bounty hunter are dumping their token once token appers in the exchange. They did this simply because they didn't believe in the project they help to promote during campaign. But, this is not good for the project. They even didn't help the token to rise.

You should know that bounty hunter are getting coins after long time of the coins listed in exchange. Presale and ICO bonus investor are the persons who are getting the coin immediately after the ICO is finished and they are the main investors who are selling in below the ICO price, this is because as they are getting discount so the price for them is below ICO and they sell it in market immediately when the coin get listed.

And that why many trader decided to sell because between total supply and demand does not parallel. To solve this situation, should be there are alot of new money come in to crypto market, and we should be promoted all benefits of crypto to attrack new many investor and trader.

Most of the problems really aren't people dumping other than maybe a few bounty hunters... its just on low liquidity DEX's its easy for bots to wash trade (trade amongst each other to wash the price down..).. this causes noobs to capitulate and panic sell while big players accumulate at insanely low prices.. I honestly don't think this can be stopped until DEX's find a way to have more liquidity or centralized exchanges quit charging such high prices for listings.

this is what causes eth prices to fall very deep, investors have sold their tokens and resold their eth in the market.
very disappointed there should be regulations to maintain price stability. I am also disappointed that bounty hunters are always harmed by this kind of investor action.

If the bounty hunter's allocation is only 10%. I don't think that the effect will be very large making the coin market go down. unless most investors lack trust in the coin. because in my opinion most investors will definitely sell the tokens they buy. after the project listing in exchange. thats what makes the coin market down

When a token is listed on exchange(s), what actually determines the health of the price is the demand for it. A good project will see people who missed out during the public sale, buying the coin once they get listed on the exchange, at this point there is demand and buy walls and more than the sell walls. This will definitely end up raising the price.
In a situation whereby there's no demand for the token, sell walls will definitely will be more than the buys, this forces the price down as orders that aren't getting filled at certain prices will be reviewed downwards and this continues till the price gets abysmally low in comparison to the ICO price.

It is impossible to stop people from dumping ERC-20 tokens on the crypto-currencies trading market, but I think the best efficient way to prevent people from selling their ERC-20 tokens below ICO price would be to keep on developing that specific project and make that ERC-20 token become more valuable as time goes by, this would encourage people to hold on to those ERC-20 tokens for a longer period of time before selling them away on the trading market.

Investors over the years have always noticed that bounty hunters always get to dump their tokens at any time or chance they get to see, and monitoring the way things tend to go pretty fast these days, I will rather assume that investors are actually the ones who already dumped most of their tokens, and then set a lower price to buy for the bounty hunters.

It is actually a sad thing because a lot of bounty hunters actually do not have what it basically takes to at least be able to know the content of what they are participating in, some don't care about the future, let alone, care to know what the ICO price was, and in such scenario, they always get to make horrible mistakes selling hugely at loss. All the same, it is the market, as some are selling; some are actually seeing bonuses and buying from the weak hands.

Reading through the thread, I can see a lot of people blaming the bounty hunters for dumping their tokens, but in the whole market considering that very few of the bounty hunters will actually be dumping and only about 1 to 2% of the total amount is usually allocated to bounty, I doubt, if bounty hunters can have much effect.

The main culprit are the big investors that got huge bonuses, and they are surely always quick to sell to drive out the weak hands which in this case, the bounty hunters are always the weak hands and a lot of these bounty hunters you guys are talking about even sell at loss, since they even do not always care to check the ICO prices anyway.

No single person has any controls over the market, no project has any control over it's tokens have they've been issued to their investors, bounty hunters or 'airdroppers' if there's any word like that. The decision to sell or dump at any price is in the direct purview of the token holder. A project will great prospects will see less token hodlers selling off their bags as they see a future with the project and ultimately the coin.

In my opinion, in this bear market bounty hunters and investors are not sure that the price of these coins would rise in near future, they think that the price would come down even further, that's why they are selling their coins.

It must be in accordance with the procedures that have been implemented, usually funds for the bounty hunter have been allocated 2% of sales. That in my opinion is very appropriate, because if they pay for advertisements it can require a lot of funds more than the help of the bounty hunters.

That is the thing here bro! Bonuses given to investors which in some cases we tend to see even as much as 70% which I have seen with one project before, it is really something crazy. Like someone rightly said, when this token eventually hits the market, I am sure investors with huge bonuses and actually got a lot will not even blink an eye and in most cases, since they already know there are some people dumb enough to dump at low prices below ICO price, they really will not mind getting it as down as they can until they know they are even accumulating enough with those bonuses, until there is pretty much no one to sell again and then, we see the price hitting new ATHs, and then some bounty participants wishing they held on to what they had.

Actually, it is not about the delay of tokens listing on exchange or whatever you may want to call it as this has been a norm now and this will keep happening until projects stop giving investors huge bonuses and since more investors have seen that there will always be some weak hands in the market which in this case are some of the bounty hunters that really do not always care to know the ICO price and just dump at any price they want, these bonuses from investors alone are enough to get the market tanked and then they set lower prices to buy in more in the long run, which in this case, investors or in this case, the whale investors keep having a swell time.

Hunters mostly won't care too much about the future of an ICO project. They will soon sell their tokens as long as there is money they can collect. The same as the ico participants who hunt bonuses. It is hard to prevent it because that is how ICO project work. They needs hunters to spread the project and offer bonuses to attract more people to join.

Not for so long but it is already like a common thing that most investors will really dump their token for securing profits. Theres no surprise on that one yet this is the purpose
of most investors to put up money to earn money when they saw profits but this isn't always the case now because most ICO now tends out to dump its price before it hits on exchangers
which they don't really have any choice but to hold or wait up.

Why so many cryptocurrencies, where to use them, any product, from funding bitcoin when the prices of everything are falling and the interest of the people is lost. Yes.I really see its happening now.But i think it's much better to hold first our tokens for quite some time because there are also chances that their value will also grow higher as time passes by.Selling our tokens right away once we see it is listed on an exchanger is never a good practice i think because it will only contribute to a more dump in price.

It must be in accordance with the procedures that have been implemented, usually funds for the bounty hunter have been allocated 2% of sales. That in my opinion is very appropriate, because if they pay for advertisements it can require a lot of funds more than the help of the bounty hunters.
So this means bounty hunters and investors who usually dump tokens below Ico price. Not the only bounty hunters should be responsible for the dump since it is only 2% of the allocated funds of the project. If the project is worth holding mostly many users dont sell their token. So we cannot force everyone to stopped selling.

That's just the speculation of the speculators. They are the most sellers. The bonuses of the bounty hunters are quite low and it only accounts for 2-3% of the total assets of altcoin. So how can it reduce more than 3%?
That is the contribution of the speculators. Bounty hunters have been misunderstood by many people.

Why blame bounty hunters? Common people hunters has no enough power to make a market down for several months, In my humble opinion the ICO owners are the one who dump their tokens Im not saying all but mostly like 80% of the ICO owners are dumping it some recent ICOs has not transparent enough with investors saying they will reach the softcap/hardcap but on the contrary they will dump their own tokens in exchange listings for more money in their own pocket leaving real investors at big loss.

Without much ado,  I think excessive sales bonus have a part in dump we see on newly listed token.  But there are some other factor also that put token value under water.  The long delay in launch and slow token generation event is also reason for lackluster attitude to token trading!
I don't think it's just a bounty hunter do that, because developers only allocate a few percent of their total supply for bounties
campaign, so I don't think that the bounty hunter is the one only who dumps

Those that invested in pre sale and bounty hunters are usually the mojority of people that do dump tokens below ICO price. This can be stopped by reducing the bounty rewards and bonus .

Tokens probably go back to developers lol. I agree. Bounties perhaps are compised of insignificant amounts of coins, if ever the ico is legitimate, the the devs can afford to throw away. And it can't be stopped. Most hunters would do away with them once they get to exchanges.

In order to stop the tokens not to get dumped at the time of listing in exchangers is ico companies give limited number of coins only after the coin listed then we can see coins will be stable price

There is no way you can stop that. IF people are free to buy tokens, then they are also free to sell it whenever they want to, and you can’t stop them. Investors usually expect a coin to keep growing so that they will make profit, and when an altcoin is not growing as they expected, they will all start to dump the coin. That’s why most people don’t like buying these tokens.

1- The main and most important reason for the decrease in price is less than ICO is a halt or minimal promotion of the project after a period of sales by developers.
2- Bounty hunters also contribute to lower prices, but only slightly.
3- In a bear market, there is a very high probability that the price will fall below the selling price.

P.S. the fashion for ISO is gone, buy tokens already when there was a listing on the trading exchanges.

Yes even token from legit company and they has working product was dump hard and currently below ICO price, in my opinion this is because alot of competition on the market. We can see almost everyday new token listed on the coinmarket cap and tradeable on the exchange, and some of them has the same purpose. With more project on the market the supply of crypto and token will increase and we need more new money come in to the market.

I think this is done by people who have no experience in trading and tend to put forward their own interests, in my opinion the only way to prevent this is to give the participants a sense of benefit for many people.

Most of the projects are over rated during icos and that is why we are having the problem we are having.  Many investors put in money into a project without thinking how will this project perform in the market.

Private investors are more likely to be blame in dumping of prices for the reason that they have accumulated a lot of discounts during private sale. Well in the current market status today, moon is just an illusion.
i just created a thread for this issue. i forgot to add this option and i believe they are also part of the reason why tokens are being dump. i strongly will not accept that bounty hunter and airdropers are reason behind token dump.
i know lots of exchanges do conduct trading competition these days to improve the sales for the tokens. never you put blames on bounty hunters. rather blame investors. they are responsible.

Also if the amount of bounty shares is high enough than a lot of bounty hunters sell the tokens as soon as they are listed ln exchanges so the price may get dumped but considering the potential of the project the price may again rise up.

I think it can be prevented if the ICO's team will minimize their allocated amount on bounty rewards .
How is it even possible?

Most of the projects allocates 5% of their token into bounty and also they were distributing the tokens so late after the end of sale so which didn't do anything with the dump but if still this is the reason the bounties need to pay the participants with bitcoin to prevent them being dumped because people were working for money on bounties so they will surely dump when token hit an exchange.

Yes, that is a big problem that needs to be solved by the dev and the teams so they can continue the project without seeing bad news that might happen in the market. But still, it's hard to stop people from dumping the tokens because people need to make a profit and that is why they sell their tokens when it gets list. But if the project is very good, the dump will not take a big effect, and the price will be back to the stable price which people can buy and sell and then make a profit.

Honestly, these days ICOs try it really hard to promote their projects so that they can increase their sales. They give out a lot of Airdrops, bonuses and rewards to bounty hunters.
These bonuses and rewards turn out to be excess in volume and hence the tokens are eventually dumped just as they get launched on the exchanges.
This has become quite normal these days. We can see dumps in the beginning of a token getting launched on exchanges.
We can prevent this from happening by limiting the amount of tokens that can be sold during the launch of a token on an exchange.

If we need to comment on many projects, we can show project teams as the main culprit of low starting prices because an incredible token distribution is taking place just for the sake of advertising. All of these token owners can easily lower the price, since there is a serious distribution because of the advertising campaigns we see here and the advertising campaigns we see outside of this place. These methods, which are extremely beautiful for especially the poor country citizens, cause the prices to be regressed for the sake of many and also cause the death of many projects. As long as the free token distribution is not reduced, we will continue to see such declines and declines. Anyone can sell their tokens at no cost easily, but for something he pays by paying money, he never creates an order for sale.

when the ICO has a bounty campaign program, it seems that what will make the price of the token fall is the bounty campaign participants, but if the ico does not have a bounty campaign program, the investors who buy when pre-sale usually get bonuses up to more than the bounty campaign program. from 50%.

its rare to see when some is selling at a low price . maybe they sell because they badly need the funds ? you know , bounty hunters are poor . they do bounties in the hopes of earning a token that they can exchange for real money  . they thought its cool because they can earn money online and they dont care if the profit that they could get is too low  .

but others prefer to not sell at all because they have a cash on their personal wallet  .  they are hopping that they can earn more income if they wait for a longer time which is a fact  .

ICO projects can pay bounty hunters with usd or bitcoin instead of their own token. To avoid the project dumping and the price of the token to fall down until that project itself dies. The problem is bounty hunters joins ico and bounty campaign's to gain money that's is why the dump is to be expected. If the team and members of the company really wants to succeed then they really need to change the payment method.

It's not a bad idea to change the payment method for bounty hunters. But it is quite impossible to happen. Because most ICO's are scams and they just want to get the money of investors and not to pay hunters. That is why I only see a few projects that uses usd, btc or eth as payment for bounty hunters.

- I don't think the reward that bounty hunters get is enough to push the price of the token lower than the price of ico because that reward is only a very small part of the total supply, and with such a number, bounty hunters are not the cause for dumping token, even bounty hunters always receive rewards very late, dumping tokens has no benefit for them. The person responsible for dumping token is probably the developer and the investor, they hold most of the token, the reason why they have such actions, it is really a big question and I still don't know the correct answer

this has been popular in the past few years, and investors are also confident in the strength of project funding because developers seem to spend substantial funds for promotion. But now the quality is deteriorating where developers are also afraid to suffer losses, indirectly they also do not believe in their own coins and only rely on sales. If we go back to the old pattern, at least the developer will not worry about the behavior of the bounty hunters on the market.

Title: Re: Who do people dump tokens below ICO price and how can this be stopped?

Due to 5 main reasons:
1) low margin of token utility
2) Huge ico discounts
3) The bounty hunters
4) poor marketing
5) the overall market conditions

LOW MARGIN OF  TOKEN UTILITY

Market growth is driven purely by a balance between supply and demand. When companies run ICOS, they distribute utility tokens which are to be used to perform some functions on the platform. These tokens don't represent a share of the company (except it's  a security token), hence can only grow if there'a market demand from people willing to use that token for its purpose or from speculators. But, as at now, most ICOS distribute tokens which don't have immediate utility for its users. Because most blockchain innovations are still far from reaching mass adoption, the demand of tokens by real users is slim. Hence, speculators who have no use for the tokens are the ones in control of the game now. Because of lack of enough market demand (owing to low utility), the tokens are liable to be dumped.

HUGE ICO DISCOUNTS
In the quest to gain more funds from their ICOs, most companies now offer huge discounts ( I have seen some ICOs offer 100% discounts) this will only attract greedy speculators who will be ready to dump, once the said token hits exchanges. This has hurt a lot of ICOs but i wonder why many still do it. If a company's  tokens have  real quality utility, they needn't give out such huge discounts in order to attract people. Quality needn't be cheap to succeed.

THE BOUNTY HUNTERS

They are a major contributor too. Most bounty hunters don't really care about the value of a token. All they wait for is for the tokens to launch on exchanges, so they could off-load their bags.

Even though the percentage allocated to bounty hunters is usually minimal, market dump still occurs because, at the launch of those tokens on exchanges, there is usually low volume. Hence, even as little as a handful of sellers can crash the price.

POOR MARKETING

This is the one single aspect that makes or breaks ICOs. Yet, it's an aspect that many ICOs lag at.

The value of a token relies deeply on the Buzz it creates.  Great marketing is paramount for the healthough of tokens. If a company has got great products but bad marketing, no one will see the potential that company has to offer. Level of marketing explains why some moderate  blockchain innovations have their token value to x100 while other greater blockchain ideas have their token values go negative in percentage.

Simply put, the more Buzz your token creates among people, the more they are willing to hold it (even bounty hunters)

THE OVERALL MARKET CONDITION

This is more like a self-automated dump ;D

This is probably the biggest determinant. As we all know, most cryptocurrencies are pegged to btc. Hence, they go where bitcoin goes (up or down) . All markets like the forex and stock markets have market cycles. Cryptocurrencies is not am exception. You can have very good marketing, great product and a lot of hodlers. Yet, your token still dumps. This isn't your fault. The market cycle is a predictable cycle that occurs every year in every market. In this case, dump is inevitable.

HOW CAN THIS CAN BE STOPPED

MAKE HOLDERS HAVE A REASON TO HODL!

It all comes down to utility. If a project distributes tokens that  can'take be used for anything yet, these companies should find a way to give incentives to hollers (while they build their project)

Such incentives could be
- 5% addition other hodlers's tokens every month: this has worked for many ICOs. Hyperbridge currently does this. Their tokens dumped but the moment they announce this, the tokens price went back up. It works because people believe they will get more by just hodling. This helps preserve the value of the tokens while  the companies work on building real utilities for the tokens.

-access to certain products services by holding certain amounts of tokens: Users would be widling to buy more to access those services if it suites them.

Just give the hodlers a good reason to HODL. If there's  no reason, then create one.

COMPANIES SHOULD IMPROVE IN THEIR MARKETING CAMPAIGNS

Companies should tighten their belts when it comes to marketing. As I said, nothing is more important than good marketing.

AN EMISSION TECHNIQUE SHOULD BE USED FOR HEAVY-LOAD BOUNTIES

Bounty managers should have a smart contract system that emits the rewards of bounty hunters to their wallets in chunks. That way, before bounty hunters recieve all their tokens, that token's market must have recieved enough volume to become unshakeable by bounty tokens.

It's not always bounty hunters whose to blame for the dropped of ICO prices. I have witnessed that investors has already decided right from the start to sell it because they already received a massive discount when they bought it so even just the ICO price when it gets listed is enough for them to make a lot of profit.

Most likely it's because of early ICO invetors and bounty hunters. They tend to sell it below ICO price because they don't want to hold it or they need ETH/BTC as soon as pissoble for their needs. I think we can't stop it but we can lessen it.

Yeps airdrops and bounty hunters are the cause of every ICO token to drop.
You see a lot of projects seeing that team and advisor tokens are locked for 6-12 months. People should consider to do the same with the token allocated for airdrop and bounty. Give them a lockup period of 6 months. Then release the token on the exchange. In this way only investors who contributed to the ICO have tokens to sell on the exchange. But investors mostly want to hold their tokens to make profit and will not dump their tokens. In this way the token value has some breathing time to set itself on the exchange.

Airdrop and bounty participants only are after free money and 95% of participants do not give a sh*t about the projects they get involved with. So for me I would rather invest in an ICO that doesn't offer airdrop and bounty project. Personally I think there are other ways to get a large community involved without doing bounty or airdrop rewarding free tokens.

Reward people that actually attract investors. In ICOs there are 1000s of people doing signature, FB, twitter bounty campaign but most of them only attract people to join the bounty program as well. Personally I think that's the wrong way of working. they should rather reward those who bring in investors and no bounty participants. For example launch an affiliate opportunity where people can earn lets say up to 5% of what his referrals invest and pay out in ETH or BTC. After that they can decide wether they want to withdraw their affiliate earnings or invest in tokens if they really believe in the project and want to support it.

A second way to make more people keep their tokens is to deliver their promised product before it hit the exchanges. A lot of ICO coins that come on the exchanges do not have their product finished yet. So there is zero to none utility of the token. Deliver something that convinces people to hold their tokens instead of dumping.

And that is exactly the reason why I do not buy a single ICO coin. Some time ago I was interested in a porn related ICO. But I did not supported the ICO. I waited until it hit the exchanges and I bought the coin almost 20 times lower than the ICO price.

One the bonuses that's on the pre-sale, now investors will use huge amount of funds to bag up the tokens at that cheaper rate, now when they hit the Exchanger with the targeted price the investors dump now in other words investors are really the dumpers of any projects tokens. The project blames the Hunters for no reason we the hunters we work hard to earn them.

Most of the time I think these things lies on the project developers When coins/tokens gets listed on exchange it get near or no buy options except for mostly zeros so most disappointed investors let the okens loose to avoid further lost I think devs need to show some commitments before listing happen to raise and maintain token prices with their dedications to work

No, Bounty hunters do always took the blame most likely from most people when we do talk about dumping into its price. They think that small allocation in marketing does really give big impact
into a tokens price without even thinking that the major ones that do dump most of the token is the investor itself.A usual stuff which investor would do, selling out ASAP to secure profits as early as possible.

Locked the token so it cannot be transferred.

If anyone cannot send their token, who's gonna dump???

Jokes aside, i believe if some ICO somehow got listing on an exchange and the price most likely dumped.

Because there's no demand, who wanna buy ICO in their ICO price if I can buy it after -80% ICO price.

If they truly believe in their project, the community/investor will set his own buy wall and the price will bounce back after the dump happen. That's a big IF though.

Well, if the ICO projects were real and not made  for the purpose of scamming, only then the owners can pay in bitcoins / USD. The projects owners almost get free advertisements as they only pay to their workers in the coins which have no value until they come on exchanges.

Well, if the ICO projects were real and not made  for the purpose of scamming, only then the owners can pay in bitcoins / USD. The projects owners almost get free advertisements as they only pay to their workers in the coins which have no value until they come on exchanges.

Right.I have already experienced that. And it's good to know that even some of the campaigns delayed their payments but still they managed to pay their participants in bitcoin, not with their own tokens.Because if not,we will all be frustrated upon receiving our tokens which have very low value at that time.

I never sold tokens right after the ICO. And I deeply regret it. Most of these projects that had some value, came to be worth 0. But in the projects that I consciously invested and researched,  the majority still have a profit after ICO.

I too feel that the bounty participants might be one of the reasons behind the price fall. But i would say, the market condition would be a big reason. Just look at days when coins were listed at first, the price even went over the ICO price when the market was really good in 2017. So, merely the market condition would be the reason.

We cant blame bounty hunters on the output of the price of a coin after it was listed on exchange, some of them or maybe most of them are trying to do bounties to supply their daily living. And ofcourse there were lots of reason but the factors that is because of hunters had a huge part.
I would not have blamed the Bounty Hunters, because I know quite a few examples that after the distribution of tokens, all the coins of the Bounty members of the company were blocked for several months. But even in this case, the tokens themselves fell several times below the ico level of the company, while investors could use all of their tokens without any restrictions. For some reason, now there is a lot of negative information about the fact that Bounty Hunters are dropping the prices of many coins. It's a lie.

If you could make sure the price goes up after the ICO instead of going up than you can make sure less people will sell. Say you spend 10 bitcoins to keep the price up after ICO and buy peoples tokens instead of letting them stay than you will have less people selling. Say you sold a token and gathered 1000 bitcoins for it, and you sent millions of your token.

People who start to sell will decrease the price right away and people who see it going down will start selling too and others will join them, this is because people do not want to hold a coin that is worthless and goes to 1 satoshi each, they prefer sell it before that happens.

However, if you start buying with the funding you have and not allow it to drop people see that price is resisting going down and there is a support line above the post-ICO price and than they will keep their money and not sell it. Technically you would even make money that way because you spent bitcoin to keep price high but you have the tokens already so your tokens worth more in btc that way.

Bounty hunters are always suspects, as a cause of dumping the price of tokens. even though they only have 1% of the supply token. investors have a greater chance to drop prices. preferably the distribution of tokens is done in stages, it might prevent the price of token dumps far from ICO prices.

The main thing is demand if it was reduced to anything then the value also been reduced so this is the thing happening to the tokens also for making the value dump again and comparing to the ICO it will be very low

The fact is that the team should not be greedy and should contribute to the development of their project. Some ico companies are interested in their investor, as well as participants in the Bounty company, so that they do not sell tokens, but instead they will receive interest on profits. In addition, there are many ways to interest coin owners, this is what you need to do so that coins are not sold at low prices.

Some people just don't care about the project and they want to earn money. So they withdraw their coins as soon as there will be a possibility.

If we want to prevent dumping the token once listed. They have startegy now the project and this is divided the bounty token to the participants like every month they will get some of the tokens and other will be other month so they can prevent the token to down the value that's the people do now. But they still some bounty campaigns not do that and they give the token to the participants in one sending.

It is depends on the team, if they are really has the concern on the price then they will do something that protect the supply from dumping it will really dump if they will send those tokens to the participants because most of them will really sell it immediately and the token price will no longer recover.

Bounty hunters need to be rewarded with tangible money for their work so they dump at least a part of their tokens once they get listed on an exchange. A project can prevent this by paying the hunters with btc or eth. The ICO investors usually dump below ICO price if they are not satisfied with how the project is going or they have received a considerable bonus to their contribution.

Mostly the price always falls from for bounty hunters. It is not profitable for the team and investors to sell crypto cheaper than they bought it. But the bounty hunters want to earn at least something. Because they don't want to explore the project, they don't want to wait.

Yes, most of them are so. But it is possible to cut the loss, and nobody wants to do it. It is possible to pay Bounty reward with ETH or to freeze the hunter's money for a short time.

Recently, a lot of ICOs are getting hit by people dumping tokens below ICO price. Some attribute the cause to bounty hunters while others blame it on excess pre-sale bonus. Who do you think is responsible and how can this be prevented?
You forgot to add the developers themselves also guilty of this dump. The devs keep a certain amount of the crypto (this is usually a big chunk greater than that which they make available to the public). At listing on an exchange the devs wait a day or two to dump especially when they know it's a scam coin. I was a victim of this with Swisscoin (SIC) on Coinexchange.

I am also interested in this question. Many people think that this is because of the participants of the bounty companies, sometimes it happens that they sell such quantities that are not real for the participant of the bounty.

Nobody is responsible if there is a massive dumping of tokens. We are in cryptocurrency world and we should know and prepared that anytime dumping or price manipulation can happen. The cryptocurrency market is highly volatile. We cannot prevent people about what they are thinking but the best thing to do by ICO companies is controlling the tokens they contribute to bounty hunters by freezing the tokens in the ERC-20 wallet or any compatible wallet format they want to use.

Why do always bounty hunters do took the blame? Why not consider to look on its investors itself? Actually,if we try to look or dissect carefully on whose the one is responsible on such dumps
is the investors itself. As investor you would really have that mindset to get out and secure profit once the tokens being bought is already on the market specially to those who bought on
big discounts or earlier phase of sale will have such advantage and theres nothing we can do to stop those yet this is just a usual stuff. If a project tokens price dumped so hard then reviving
would only just matter if the project is really worthy or do have potential.Support wont really disappear but for a trash one then dont expect for it to gain or increase its price once more.

For those people who want to trade up their tokens after getting it in bounty or invested it depends on a human if he gonna sell or not his bounty tokens.
This also depends on the mindset of the individual, some bounty hunters will hardly sell the bounty of the coin they have hope in for future, most tokens being sold when they enter exchanges are tokens a bounty hunter feels the project is not viable and may not see the light of the day and in doing so, there comes a major dump which in turn affects the ICO price completely, but the final figure of the ones dumping the coins are low compared to the ones holding, so it shouldn’t have much effect on the  market.

Other than developing confident among investors, there will be no working way to stop people dumping after ICO phase. Devs must work on bringing more confident among investors so that people will keep buying rather than looking for dumping.

It's not just about the bounty hunters. Even if they lock out the tokens for months and then release it as you can read on a post here. Bounty hunters are just 1-2 percent of the total pool. Not enough to dump the project really hard. It's the project itself that creates these effects. They will have to keep their large investors to keep them from selling at early.

Yes.Nobody is responsible for the low price tokens but as they've said, selling of their tokens after bounty hunters have received their rewards will also contribute to a more dump in the market. But if you look closely the market,it's highly volatile so we can expect pumping and dumping of its price from time to time.

It is just basically how it's done. If I'm an investor that bought their token with 80% bonus in the ICO period then I see it get listed and has the normal ICO price then I easily make 4x of roi just by selling it right away. Some investors don't want to take risks and greed for more so that is why it gets dumped.

In my opinion i think its based on excess presale bonus. Most private sales investors bought their token at a ridiculous low price and high bonus so they can sell below the ico price and still be in profit,  this cause most of the dumps we see after ICO
