Title: Merit abuse
Post by: Oh Sehun on June 25, 2018, 09:13:31 PM
Does this include abuse of merit?

Both users are merit abusers. I think they should be punished for abusing merit. Rest depends on moderators and D1 as well as D2 Member.

All these brand new accounts, starting out so concerned about merit abuse.

OP, why don't YOU tag those accounts if you think they deserve to be?  I normally don't care, but in this case I have no doubt you're an alt of someone else and I question your motivation for starting a thread about this--which is unnecessary, since there's already a thread dedicated to merit abusers.

There seems to have been an influx of new users who seem to be singularly concerned with exposing scammers & merit abusers.  Nothing wrong with that necessarily, but that's exactly what warningsigns (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=406432) did before pulling a loan scam, and that's what KeithBeeCham (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1086526) did before being exposed as a bounty cheater.  So it makes me suspicious when noobs do this.

As far as DT members tagging these two accounts goes, it may not happen.  The merit abuse has to be obvious and excessive, and some may not see this meeting those criteria.  I don't actively tag people for merit shenanigans, so it's up to the rest of the DT crew.

It will become increasingly more  difficult to rank up as a cheater. They may get to full member rank but to cheat beyond that will become harder and harder as smerits will only be coming from merit sources and people who genuinely deserved them. Eventually the way the system works they will be starved from corrupt merit sources.

Strawbabies huh? She's/he's one of a good campaign manager I knew. She/he successfully done a lot of campaigns in the past and she/he will just destroy her/his image and reputation in a single blow. After what happened to aTriz which is also a good campaign manager in the past looks like Strababies will end up like aTriz as well by this Merit abuse.

What's up with them lately, their destroying their reputation as a good member of this forum. Although how good a member is, they're really getting desperate just to earn Merit. But seriously? Even if it will cause for their account to become untrusted?

Does this count in their favor or against them ? They could be using multiple systems for this.

I agree. It may looks suspicious but two users meriting each other is not necessary abuse.

When posting in limited threads where the same people post it is quite likely that people with the same opinions like the posts of others that frequent that particular thread frequently.

It is only when they are consistently shit posting and those posts receive merit that it becomes inexcusable. Merit abuse beyond full member status will become very hard in the next few months. I can see why Theymos is not too concerned about it because the merit system is designed to progressively make merit abuse more difficult.
