, a global moderator . is having this title Lamborghini member on his profile. Is a custom title, can anybody do that? or only few higher members can do that?

Only VIP members (50 btc), Donators (10 btc), Global moderators, and admins can display custom titles.

Are you sure on that? I read somewhere that hilariousandco said that he paid 1 BTC to theymos for the title, but I don't know if that was sarcasm or genuine. (Also, I think it was for the Gold Member title)

Probably joking. Out of the 5 Global moderators 3 have titles I would assume that the others just haven't opted to use it.

I'm almost certain that Global moderators can display a custom title so Hilariousandco likely paid nothing for it. However, the majority of VIP, and Donators donated a while back when Bitcoins price was much less than it is now.

That's not quite true.
VIPs, global mods and admins can set/change their own custom titles, but everyone can display one (eg get one assigned to them by theymos).
An example for that would be Blazed (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=134378), who's neither VIP nor involved with moderation, but holds the custom title "Casascius Addict".
Custom titles are also given when theymos does name changes, eg for BitcoinPenny (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=352429) (formerly CJBianco), who carries their old name as custom title "aka CJBianco".

tl;dr: Everyone can have a custom title, not everyone can set one for themselves.

Hilarious' "Lamborghini Member" and mprep's "Diamond Member" is poking fun at the Copper Member rank that was introduced a while back.
As you can see, custom titles show at the same place as the "Copper Member" text when people are posting (not on a users profile).
I would assume rickbig's "I'm not a member" is meant in a similar way.

You need to own a Lamborghini to truthfully wear that title.

Someone ask hilariousandco how to get lamborghini member custom title and hilariousandco replied that in order to have a custom title you have to donate btc and pm theymos about it.

My original custom title was Gold Member. Mprep then one-upped me with Diamond Member, so I had to go one further and become a Lambo member.


Well, that's how you become a donator which will give you the option of a custom title. I might have joked in the past that if you buy theymos a lambo he will give you that title though.

And I do not think it's automatic yet. In that case, I think anyone can have a custom title if theymos wants to active it for that user.
It's a sarcasm by the way  :P

what's the difference with the others, is there any special effects or is it just a regular title?

So how do you request theymos for a custom title or do you need a certain kind of trust in the forum in order to request and obtain one? Also do you need to pay a certain amount depending on the title you want? Because I also don't think that everyone can have that kind of privilege here in the forum.

You don't have to necessarily pay(?). You can ask him nicely or give a valid explanation for why you want to have a a custom title. The chances of getting a custom title are more when you're reputable and have contributed to the community.

Imagine, how hundreds of users are trying to "ask him nicely" after your reply ;D  I think, reputability and contribution to the community should be on the firs place.
P.S. I`m not certain if one need to be a Legendary or at least Hero to leave a reply in this thread, so I tried  ;D

I think Lamborghini member look like VIP member , who donate 50 BTC . But must accept by admin.
