Title: Gambling in E-Sports
Post by: Gaaara on June 27, 2018, 05:00:21 PM
I am just curious why E-Sports betting is not famous, I really think that E-Sports betting in Worldwide tournaments with competitive games like Overwatch, Dota2, and Lol should have been more influenced since we are using a computer and internet based money. I really do think that E-Sports should have the most bets in all gambling, but I guess its only for some who is really into computer games and even most gamer doesn't watch tournaments so I guess that is one of the reasons.

Anyways tell me what you guys think.

Im sure there are people who are interested on e-sports on this forum but wont really be that much. We have seen some prediction thread on this gambling board but i dont see it already or being updated.
Im one of those people who are interested but since none people here do make mention or do talk about it then i do decide not to talk at all and lucky now you had opened about that matter.
Dota2 is the game that i do play.

The problem is that both cryptocurrency gambling, and E-sports gaming are both niche areas, which means that you're looking for a niche within a niche, and when one of those niches is quite small (crypto-gambling) then you're really unlikely to find anywhere with massive selection or quality as it's still a nascent market. Once Crypto reaches prime-time, you can be sure this is where the market will be heading though.

Yeah, I got your point, tournaments like Dota2 and Lol are worldwide and involves a lot of money. The problem why its not famous because simply we don't like it and we are not interested. How can we bet on something that we don't understand? Maybe its because of the age gap, as younger generations usually play that game and not everyone of them can put a bet online.

If you think about it, most e-sports bettors are probably in their late teens or early 20s, whereas I suspect the demographic surrounding cryptocurrency is more like late 20s and early 30s, so there isn't too much of a demographic overlap for it to reach a wide audience. I doubt it would be profitable for even the largest sports betting websites to implement regular e-sports betting.

There are numerous platforms made for online Esprots gambling yet they are not very known/famous on this forum since the majority of them (if not all of them ) use fiat money as a main currency and this is a cryptocurrencies forum so talking about fiat isn't the purpose .
There are certainly gambling online bookies that accept cryptos and are covering some Esports games , and it'll probably be more bookies to cover Esports events if people demand so . It's just that the common idea is "only kids play video games" and they can't gamble , while the truth is there are adults as much as kids playing video games and who are legible for gambling, so whoever provides a good gambling platform for them that accepts cryptos will certainly make a lot of money ;) .

One of my favorite when I'm gambling is on ESPORTS like in dota 2, You can easily win if you know the performance of the team you are betting. Almost won in some betting site like buff88.com more than 0.02BTC with a little investment of 0.003 only. I will be betting again this coming The International 2018.

Yeah totally makes sense to me, the only ones who can bet in this kind of things are the ones who plays it since they're the only ones who understands it.
Like there is a person that will try betting with not enough knowledge and information and just guessing in each match.

The game that makes the most money nowadays is clearly Fortnite. I don't know what is making this game so famous, it is rather insane. I would like an explanation. I have played it myself, I find it interesting that there is a system to build ramps, floors, ceiling and putting traps and so on, this seems pretty hard to master, but other than that is a regular shooting game with rather poor movement.

The top player in Fortnite is someone called Ninja and he is making around $500,000 a month streaming it on Twitch, this is crazy. He may become the first billionaire gamer ever if Fortnite survives beyond a fad.

Ha very interesting that you noted Ninja who is making a killing streaming on Twitch.
Fascinating to learn that he is only 27 years old (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_(streamer) and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for our younger gamers down the road as e-sports become more polar worldwide.
