Title: which coins have proof of stake?
Post by: dogechode on February 08, 2014, 08:03:05 PM
Which coins currently have proof of stake, and thus could be held indefinitely to produce a form of interest... and what does one have to do to get the reward?

Hobonickels. I think you just have to have them in your wallet.

Too many to list. Go to http://mapofcoins.com/ and look at everything that branches off from PPC (Peercoin) There is also NXT.

PPC, NVC and YAC are the ones that have up-to-date PoS schemas to avoid certain block orphaning issues.

PPC, NVC, YAC, CGB, PHS, HBN, TAG, NEC, APC are a few PoW/PoS hybrids

Nxt is pure PoS but not really profitable at the moment until there are more transaction fees per block.

I never knew tagcoin was proof of stake so that's an interesting one as I belong to a tag forum but I never knew that. Strange I was looking around also for a proof of stake list. I got 208 battlecoins they are also proof of stake as well and I like where they are heading. ;D

The best PoS coin to hoard right now is MintCoin. In 5 weeks, it will become only PoS when the block reward for PoW goes to zero. Until that time, the block reward will halve every week.

The coin was just launched a few days ago, check my sig for the wallet, ANN page and a giveaway, I have some to spare!  :D

I have had good results with hobonickels and mint. HBN has steadily increased in value, mint is still pretty new but hasn't started value growth as yet so far. Blackcoin... I would stay the hell away from. Obvious signs of internal price manipulation by a tight knit group.

And here come all the blackcoin fanboys out to lynch me. How exactly do you figure that HBN is dead? HBN has the best dev of any coin that I have seen, period. Their community is great and they don't spend all their time in other coins' threads talking trash, or sitting around making deals with each other not to sell below X price. HBN's price has been growing steadily. BC has been dropping steadily like a dead bird for over a week now.

Seriously, go look at a price graph for hobonickels, it is pretty much the poster child of beautiful steady, stable growth. BC's graph reveals it to be another pump and dump shitcoin like 1000 others.

They normally have to be in your own wallet for you to be able to stake the coins.

Our coin HYPER offers 5% monthly proof of stake interest, which is calculated and added daily. We are also developing a space based MMO game :)

I am amazed the best POS coin is not listed here! Tekcoin pays the highest intereset by far.
TEKcoin PoS/Pow 40% Stake Interest every 30 days!

I have been staking coin for my second month now and its incredible the amount of coin I staked last month over 6000 Tekcoins. I think this is the coin of the future because you don't need to mine it after awhile just leave your wallet on and it stakes your coin in 30 days like clockwork.

From experience I've tested PoS in with the following coins: LAT(Minting), PND, RDD and now Asia Coin.

In each wallet I have a certain amount of coins in LAT 25, PND 20k, RDD(well PosV) 200k and Asia Coin 13k.

1. LAT. In LAT I first left my laptop on for 8 hours because the official website stated it. So I did and 25 LAT amount got bigger but didn't pass 25 LAT.

2. PND. In PND I allow it to sync with its network and the 20k PND grew to over 20k. It still says PoS will be finished in 5000 years.

3. RDD. In RDD I allow it to sync(which took forever) finally after 10 hours interest accumulated and now over 200k

4. Asia Coin. In Asia Coin I did same thing like other three but this one gave me about 50% interest. They stated on their website 100% PoSV and after that it dwindles down.

I haven't tired BC, NXT or other PoS coins I will continue with my experiment.

There are two type of POS coins, which have interest , which don't have interest.
The former is perpetual motion which against the natural rule, such as PPC and BC.

Even better than earning interest is the Bitshares social consensus: just for holding Bitshares PTS you get an at least 10% sharedrop in all future Bitshares DACs (decentralized autonomous companies). PTS just hard forked to use Delegated Proof of Stake (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=878059.0), which means that in addition to being the original sharedrop instrument, PTS is the first DPoS coin with 100% PoW distribution, no premine, and no inflation. Coinmarketcap will be updated shortly. Poloniex has resumed trading on the new chain and Bter will transition and resume trading soon.

I'm the tech manager for a new crypto building on POS, ours is a variable proof of stake (VPOS) with a daily cap to force big holders to spread amongst multiple wallets and strengthen the network and blockchain.

I am doing some market research on other POS altcoins and came across this thread

Would appreciate any/all criticism, harsh or not ;)

CLAM is pure PoS with 1 block per minute creating 1 new CLAM per minute.

The initial distribution gave 4.6 CLAM to all BTC, LTC, and DOGE addresses that were funded on a particular date in May 2014. That's 3.2 million sets of 4.6 CLAM for a total of around 15 million CLAM. Since then another 270k CLAM has been staked.

The 1440 CLAM added per day represents 3.5% growth per year in the total money supply.

Currently only 66k of the initial 3.2 million distribution packets have ever moved, meaning that the total *active* supply is just 574k, and so the staking represents 91% growth per year in the active money supply.

Quote
20:57:33 INFO: 66,137 of 3,208,032 sets of 4.60545574 CLAM were dug up so far from the initial distribution
20:57:33 INFO: 304,591 CLAM were dug up and 269,213 CLAM were staked for a total of 573,804 CLAM
20:57:33 INFO: Just-Dice's onsite bankroll of 409,943 CLAM represents 71.44% of that amount
20:57:33 INFO: if all the distributed CLAMs were dug up, the total money supply would be 15,043,614 CLAM
20:57:33 INFO: the total bankroll of 17,613,165 CLAM is made up of 409,943 CLAM onsite and 17,203,222 CLAM offsite
20:57:33 INFO: the average multiplier (total / onsite) is 42.96x

Lots of coins have proof of stake, but not all of them can get interest.
The interest is totally wrong, it like follow from sky, no one pay it.
And the coins with interest has infinite coins.

I don't see a problem with it if everyone gets the same rate of interest. It means that nobody's percentage share of the money supply is getting diluted, and encourages everyone to stake their coins in order to "keep up".

Hobonickels has inflation control and great implementation of the distribution, coin control, multi-wallet support, stake splitting, etc. It also has one of the most talented developers around. It is a great coin.

NXT is another great POS coin, but stake comes from the transaction fees of others there. You can also buy valuable assets with dividends or even hedge at the NXT asset exchange.

Hybrid coins (POW+POS) have some advantages over pure POS in mining costs, because price moves around production costs as Satoshi said.
