Title: What is happening with Bitstamp- re flash problem
Post by: tiptopgemdotcom on February 09, 2014, 11:55:46 AM
I can't log in at bitstamp.  It has been a couple of days now.  I get an error that my flash player may be out of date, but I am already using the most up-to-date version for Ubuntu.  Any ideas?

What browser are you using, and do you have a flash blocker enabled? Have you tried another browser? Did you go ahead and try to update your flash player anyway?

I am using Mozilla Firefox.  No flash blocker enabled.  Yes, I have tried Chrome and get the same thing.  No, I can not upgrade since I am already using the latest version of flash.

Is there some kind of test site I can use to check my flash?

On this site do others see an animation of their logo?

My flash seems to work fine if that is the case.

I see it.

I am a little confused why you cannot log in though. I can disable Flash in my browser, and the site works just fine, with the exception of the charts. I have to wonder if maybe your copy of Flash is just conflicting with something.

If you are so inclined, try adding the Flash Block extension to Firefox, and see if the Bitstamp page starts working again.

Flash block 1.5.17 makes no difference- I still get the error.  I am more confused by the minute...

Disabling the flash plug-in doesn't help either.  The error still comes up.

Why is this also happening from Chrome?!?

I have two thoughts, and hopefully someone else will have other ideas. I think the most likely issue is that something with Flash is corrupted, or is just not happy with Bitstamp for whatever reason. That is why the problem would manifest on both browsers. Remove and reinstalling might fix that.

The thing that bothers me a little is that your Flash seems to work for other sites. If it were me, I would be inclined to run a malware scan also. I don't think it unreasonable to consider the possibility that some site specific malware might be causing issues.

I still can't figure this out.  Thanks for helping Minzie.  I am a little surprised that nobody has had this issue except me!

Probably not a helpful answer to you, but I can login my bitstamp account using either firefox or chrome.

There is no Flash content on the Bitstamp site.
