Title: Bitcoin to hit < 100$
Post by: Cryptogirl82 on February 10, 2014, 11:11:40 AM
I myself hold a small amount of bitcoins. I heard the price will be dropping to below 100$ by end of February because of the huge MtGox scam. So is it better to sell the bitcoins and take the money to another alt coin? Or is it better to hold on to the bitcoins?

It's hard to predict. Only hold bitcoins you can afford to lose.

Either hold, or sell them to me please :)

1. There is no MtGox scam. They have some technical issues (mainly due to their own way of processing transactions, instead of sticking to the default) but nothing critical.

2. They claim there is a vulnerability in Bitcoin, but it's just a mistake on their eind. They verify transactions by awaiting confirmation for a specific tx ID, rather than just waiting for a confirmation of the address receiving the coins (no matter through what tx).

My philosophy is: buy low, sell high.  It's low now, so my only question is exactly WHEN to buy.  I'm trying to catch a great price.

However, I have no problem if you want to panic sell when it is low.  Let me know when you sell, because that will probably be the bottom.  When the masses sell in a panic, that's the time to buy.

Well that's not really a philosophy but just logical. And I think you missed the perfect time to buy. Seems to be crawling back up now.

Yeah it's amazing how mt GOX is trying to get away with things blaming everything on the bitcoin protocol. Mt GOX is the real enemy of BTC...not apple...apple is just scared...

Well the price probably isn't going under $100 right now, but seems like the Mt Gox case can have a good effect on the btc price in the long run. A lot of people (investors) have been waiting for the price to drop, so it's a good time to start buying again.

With positive news about new merchants accepting bitcoin, the price is sure to rise with new investors coming into the game with every positive article published all around the web and media.

I think bitcoin has shown remarkable resilience in the face of China stomping on BTC China, Apple removing all bitcoin related apps and banks cracking down on customers using bitcoin. I can see it recovering back to mid-800s again. My 2 cents obviously.

A bunch of us got together last night, conferenced in Janet and Ben (Yellen and Bernanke) and decided that the price "will be dropping to below 100$ by end of February". Damn Ben, we told him not to tell yet, that must be where you "heard" it.

Seriously, if you don't want the risk, you should sell.

If you dont want to take the risk you should sell your coins.
And if BTC crashes, the alt-coins will crash even more.

Here is my speculation: crash below 450 will trigger further crash to 250$ in best case, and 100$ or further in worst case

They just want cheap coins, many of these guys probably own less than 5-10 coins and are desperate to increase their stash (which tells you how they really feel). Sad that many will end up with less than they started with.

Very true.  The same things were said in 2011 when the price was going between 3 and 30 and last year when Gox had issues and it was going between 50 and 266.  People panic and then regret it.

I myself hold a small amount of bitcoins. I heard the price will be dropping to below 100$ by end of February because of the huge MtGox scam. So is it better to sell the bitcoins and take the money to another alt coin? Or is it better to hold on to the bitcoins?

Needs more foreign sources and a point that can be confirmed. I'm afraid I can only award you 4 poots for this effort.

Oh come on, she nailed it before the $102 on btc-e.  She needs more poots than that.

Why are you people saying that bitcoin is dead and over? You do realize that Mt Gox is just a criminally incompetent bunch of fucktards attempting to hide their fraud, right? Bitcoin isn't dead, so stop with the FUD already.

They just want cheap coins, many of these guys probably own less than 5-10 coins and are desperate to increase their stash (which tells you how they really feel). Sad that many will end up with less than they started with.

no one longer wants any coin by any price, game is over.

LOL. So you really are being serious? People are still buying in, the price seems somewhat more stable than it was, Gox made clear that they are thieves, and the world is still turning.

just look, every day the price is lower, starting from decembar 2013 year.  ;)
Gosh, a whole 6 weeks ago? holy crap you're right, game over - close the windows and turn on the gas.  ::)

you are wrong, not 6 weeks, its 11 weeks constantly fall, and it continues
