What do you guys think about this Gas price surge since Saturday I think. I have been monitoring gas price the whole day today and gas price is ranging from 40 gwei - 75 gwei. This will affect ICO and bounty distribution as they will get high fees in transferring tokens to other wallets. I just hope it becomes normal again like 8 gwei - 10 gwei per transaction.

Yeah and seems the network is too congested as every transactions had just failed and still even got charge. Having a 18 gwei will cost us over $2 but still failed. I just wonder what's really going on because traders will be pissed off by missing some good pump. It's now really annoying since the last weekend.

ETH network has been congested for a very long time and there is nothing anybody can do about it. and with that congestion the fees will go up and up without control until the network fails and everything is fucked for a while before the same thing is repeated again.

there isn't even a spam attack yet on ETH network like we have on bitcoin every now and then. imagine what would happen if someone did a spam attack or "stress test" on ETH network.

This will have an impact on airdrop and this could be the one that is going to stop these airdrops, I notice there are so many airdrops compare to Ico and because of this, the network has become congested and the fee becomes high, let's see if there's a fix on this in the coming weeks.

The reason why whole ETH network gas fee is so high.
FCoin GPM listing forces all candidate companies to use massive gas fee to airdrop to FCoin accounts to create that deposit vote number.
Each day top 5 gets listed, then count from 0 again.

This could be one reason why ICOs won't give airdrops anymore because of high transaction fees for a penny.

Most of the companies are likely wanted to distribute an ICO token to their investors or to distribute bounty tokens to their participants. This cause Ethereum blockchain overloaded and just want to confirm a higher gas fee.

Yes, the current GAS value is too high for me to accept.
Because such a high fee means a lot of money is needed to transfer token.

Ethereum is now experiencing same situation like Bitcoin in 2018. The network is overloaded now because many people use it in same time. Is that good? Probably right, but developers need to solve it quickly.

You dont have to wait for the Gwei to drop that below. You can always set it to the 8-9 Gwei range but only the play here is it will take few hours to get your funds transferred.
Currently there is issues going on with the Fcoin airdrops and other airdrops too who are using heavy transaction and thus network has got too much congested. Obviously in such situation the prices for Gwei per transaction rises to overcome the stressed out network. Also in between the Gwei price does drop below 10 Gwei so keep watching the Gas Station page.

There's probably someone with enough time and resources to screw up the blockchain again. This is the big and unsolvable problem that Ethereum designed upon itself: A platform in which people can develop trash like Cryptokitties to bloat up the blockchain.

Ethereum is broken by design and it will not end well. It's going to collapse someday. I hate to say that but I think it's what will happen. And im not convinced that any of these so called scaling solutions will save it as well.

Stick to Bitcoin if you want to hold crypto long term, everything else is too risky. Most likely all other systems have systemic flaws on their designs.

What you should do is to set the gas price to the value that you want it to be. You do not have to use the gas price that is pre set there. It might go through slower if you reduce the gas price but that does not mean that it will not go through. Prices are still low so you do not have to worry about your transactions not going through because of an increase in transaction volume

It is perfectly normal, and it is also a critical issue that need to be fixed in no time. High load of transactions is expected but it is still an issue since the inception of Ethereum.

I see transactions with 200 gwei which were processing about 30 minutes. With such conditions it is very difficult not only move funds between wallets but also participate in ICO.

Don’t worry about this, this is a normal situation from time to time. It happens especially when the market is recovering, but the gas fee will come back to the normal price eventually

Seemingly, there's just few miners now to help the network, in line of having many transactions then there should be more miners. Because paying high fees aren't reasonable when you have to wait for a day for a transaction to get confirmed. Good thing I tried earlier to trade and gets confirmed after an hour. I must be lucky today. ;D

yesterday, i tried to send 0.01 ETH with Gas fee: 20 gwei, and it has been confirmed after ~8 hours. lol

Someone has been spamming the network. I know the address that has already created so many spam transactions then he was wasting thousand dollars to pay the gas fees. This is totally attack to the ethereum network. Those spam transaction will increase the standard of the gas fees.

Experienced this myself earlier and this is quite irritating which is due to the reason that you specified. The last time I experienced something so irritating was during the release of the pet game which seriously messed up the network in many ways. The Ethereum developers need to focus more on improving their blockchain network since these issues are cropping up more often which is both good and bad as you stated.

The gas price is a changing value affected by the number of requested transactions. If you can wait then you can opt for a lesser accepted value and to hasten the success of your transaction then choose a bigger gwei.  Miners are using electricity to create hashpower to handle transactions while being profitable.  The miners are affected by the change in the value of fiat to buy petroleum in order to create hashpower.  The sudden increase in the price of petroleum in the market can create a surge in the eth gas fee.  

Well, this is somthing an error of ethereum wallet address transaction at this moment and it can be fixed this soon. Cause is not a normal transaction fee to be done in trading coin.

Weird. ETH gas price doesn't cost that much though. And I'm sure that it will affect a lot of bounties.


I see some spam token as well in my MEW wallet and I was surprised about it. Although ETH as a steady network, but this kind of transactions really messed up everything. It might be very well compared to network spamming in bitcoin. So its either you increased the gas price to get your ETH or just wait till everything is back to normal.

I would think the problem of gas price increase is all about network issue, I believe every thing about correction would be done very soon and the whole thing will become normal again.

Ethereum network seems overloaded now and cause this reason. It's likely people now are converting their assets to eth or eth to other coins/tokens that cause this congestion.

But in ethereum it's much worse. The impact on the ecosystem translates into all the ERC tokens, so it's a mess that spreads across a bunch of other investments. The Ethereum blockchain also keeps growing in a stupid rate, meanwhile Bitcoin is capped to 1MB and this keeps the blockchain size from becoming a problem to both store and validate. I can't wait for september to see the Bcash attack and see how a 32 blocksize copes with a spamfest.

Recently, the transfer of token from Mew purse to exchange is very difficult.

There used to be a system blockage in view of the cryptokitties thing, now this high charge and another system clog, this will happen over and over as a result of the ico and airdrop, the main positive side is there will be no more airdrop, well hopfully.

There's still plenty of airdrop out there even if they paid for an expensive gas for fee they still doing it anyway. But as I heard that vitalik is trying to solve this scalability issue in his twitter is such a relief, if the system could overcome this then Im pretty sure that in the future ETH will be the most scalable coin out there.

The gas price hike has taken its toll on bounty distributions, there had been several complaints of non distribution of tokens citing problems from the network congestions by the companies, a bounty distribution had been prosponed till August I think high gas price is attributed to the non compliance to scheduled date of the distribution.

I had a transaction worth about 4k stuck for 4 days.  I was sweating bullets.  Transaction not found.  As the price came down in the gas station my transaction finally went through.  Even if the network clogs from time to time Ethereum is an awesome technology.

From yesterday until now, the fees have returned to normal. I sent the token and traded very quickly.

I think it is due to the increase in transactions. Since the price of coins are recovering now, more people are carrying out transactions which normally leads to increase in gas price if you want your transactions to go through quicker. I think that the gas prices will stabilize again pretty soon. Also you really don't have to increase the gas, just leave it normal, it will just take a bit longer to confirm than it did before.

What is causing Ethereum network congestion again? Even in the height of a bear market. It's absurd. Vitalik should declare a state of emergency on the issue of scalability. Nah, major ICOs no longer have that effect on the network. Or should I say, there are no more major ICOs that sell out in 5 seconds or whatever. If you check the last month since OP posted, there are 2 major things stressing Ethereum. The first is all those dapps as usual, gaming as usual when they hype is still fresh, especially the new fomo games (exitscam games). The second is those new exchanges with so called pay to vote systems. All kinds of different schemes now to attract new traders and spend money to get their useless ERC20 tokens listed. And everyone's rushing, so the miners are the happiest.

I don't think that is a problem. because the higher the gas installed is also very influential with the delivery of a token to the wallet or market.
if the gas is lacking with what has been determined, the transaction will usually fail or slow.

It all depends not on the price of Ethereum, but on the load on the network. Gas is responsible only for how fast your transaction will be processed; if the network is overloaded, then low gas transactions will be processed last.

The high gas price of ethereum gas price is super scary.  My last transaction was about 1.4usd and I have to reduce the gwei to 6 to give me $0.84 and took about 1hour or more to get transaction confirmed. Is there no way to the high gas price?

Your threat is made when ETH prices are still high and ETH traffic flows are still solid,
if you try to look back today, eth gas only requires very little, which is less than 5 gwei,
so don't worry because everything will return to normal if the ETH traffic flow is no longer congested.

This post is almost a year ago but I just see this today. As of now, ethereum gas price is not high as those days. Most of us traders know that the ether fee before is so high that we can't sometimes request transactions because of insufficient amount of ether in our compatible wallet. The transaction range of time for now is so fast as the old days, even if we lower the gwei.

Recently, as in BTC. I paid 150x fee to send bitcoin.

if traffic were crowded the gas price transfer fee increases. however gas prices are still quite affordable cheap. if make a large number of transactions, the gas price amount is definitely becoming large. recently on one ico bounty i meet wants to share the paid tokens because of the large number of participants, the participants finally had to bear each transfer fee to get their token. the dev say if they pay for the whole transfer gas price it costs around $3000.

But now the fees for the gas in ethereum is back to normal. If you are here at cryptoworld in the year 2017 when market is high the transaction fees is very high and the people do once they transact they need keep their token or altcoins to save some of their coins because of the high fees. But now fees is back to normal and it's cheap now and still waiting to down more the gas.

not too large it looks like, because the fee charged will also be proportional to the velocity and density of traffic network transaction ethereum. because usually the more solid a transaction that occurred then we should set up fee that is large enough to be able to speed up the transactions that we do.

Eth gas is super high some days ago but am happy it has been fixed now, Ethereum is a very large community with many people doing transactions on the network daily, so such cannot but happens.

Actually, after updating Constantinople, I, on the contrary, noticed a decrease in the price per transaction. for some reason it seemed to me that even the speed of transactions became much higher. Although I understand that each user of cryptocurrencies differently relates to ETH and have individual opinions about the activities of the platform.

It seems that we are back to the same problem with ETH ? With fees , lots of transactions per second and the network itself moves slowly. Why did I belived that Constantinopole will solve this problem or it will be solved in time , anything is posible.

Gas price could changing in one day many times, try to check in different period, also I know that in evening by forum time it a little cheaper

That's true, gas fee is high now than when the price was dropped and the network is so congested  which I believe that is base on sellers that want to use the opportunity of the price increase to dispose their coin. I don't think that the increase in gas fee has any effect on ICO .
