Title: [ANNOUNCE] Elqnt | Arbitrage - A Bitcoin + Cryptocurrency Arbitrage Platform.
Post by: sprinkle on February 11, 2014, 04:19:13 AM
We're excited to announce Elqnt | Arbitrage (http://arbitrage.elqnt.com/)!

My partner + I have been in development on an advanced trading platform to allow those who hold cryptocurrency to automatically execute inter-exchange trades to capitalize on arbitrage opportunities.

We've just launched our Indiegogo campaign (http://igg.me/at/elqnt) today and would love to have anyone interested ask us questions below and become backers to help get this platform off the ground.

Both myself, Stephen Sprinkle (sprinkle), and Brandon Andrews (lodlock) will be around to answer any questions.

Vaughn Murphy (coinking) is also working with us on promotion for the platform -- say hi :)

2/25

We've locked functionality and are now in the testing + hardening phase ahead of going live with round 1 alpha -- this is an absolutely crucial step, as we will be allowing live transactions.

This phase is the last major segment of development ahead of going live with the alpha.

We're also removing support for Mt.Gox in light of the developments yesterday -- we truly extend our regrets to those who held their coins with Mt.Gox -- may the community of companies building in the crypto space become more resilient, open, secure, and professional.

Lastly, we're going to be beginning to do a series of short demo videos in the coming days to demo some of the functionality of the platform ahead of the alpha going live.  We're just waiting to produce these videos until the UI is up to a presentable stage, which should be fairly soon.

Feel free to send over any questions you might have via private message or appended to the thread and don't forget to share the word about the campaign (http://igg.me/at/elqnt)!

How long do you think the development should be after funding?

How long do you think the development should be after funding?

We're actively in development currently on the project and are expecting to get round 1 alpha access (only available to backers) ready sometime during the campaign.

Round 2 alpha (also available only to backers) should be ready shortly after the campaign finishes up.

The timeline for the next phases of deployment + ultimate full production release heavily depends on feedback during the early alpha stages and subsequent feature inclusions/improvements from that feedback.

What language are you using?

The core of the platform is developed in Node.js although individual clients will also be created in various languages. Once the API becomes public client access can be developed in any desired language.

Update!

It's been a little while so I figured I'd make this an actual reply instead of just an edit to the original post.

We will indeed be adding Bitstamp. In fact it's scheduled to be included today or tomorrow. All added exchanges can be enabled or disabled at the user level so ultimately it is up to the user as which exchanges they would like to perform arbitrage opportunities on.

How does the arbitrage take place? Do you need individual accounts on each external exchange?

How does the arbitrage take place? Do you need individual accounts on each external exchange?

We plug directly into the various APIs of the exchanges we integrate with and based on the triggers + strategies you've defined, we execute the arbitrage actions accordingly either automatically or we let you know via alert so you can do it manually if you so desire.

We've also done a recent Q+A where we answer where exactly the points of automation + manual intervention are with the current structure of the platform --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwvDqkOrXLw (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwvDqkOrXLw)

You do need an account with each respective exchange that you'd like to execute arbitrage with -- this allows us to focus on providing the best unified arbitrage platform possible without having to be concerned with many of the regulatory issues that come into play when you start handling the movement + holding of funds for users -- our platform simply orchestrates movements that occur directly between your existing accounts -- this doesn't mean this won't be something we might handle down the line, but to get off the ground we're keeping things as elegant as possible on our end.

Not quite yet -- but the Round 1 Alpha will be available soon.

We've been heavily focusing our development time into back-end integration with exchange APIs thus far and are now this week shifting over to getting the UI of the dashboard ready for the alpha.

As soon as it's ready, we'll be directly emailing backers with instructions and also doing a public announcement.

The idea is really nice, however, correct me if I'm wrong, to use arbitrage opportunity you need to move FIAT money too. How are you going to handle this? Does every user need to get money and sent it to another exchange? I don't like the idea to have to wait a week to get fiat and then another week to have it on another exchange to be able to do arbitrage.

Thanks!

Simply put, that's correct.  Issues like the one you've stated largely comes down to what your individual strategy for arbitrage will be.  In your scenario it makes sense (and on the broader scale also) to keep funds available at various exchanges so that you can take advantage of arbitrage possibilities -- of which our platform would watch for and capture.

In the early stages we're focused on creating a unified and simple way to watch for and conduct arbitrage against various exchanges.  As things get spun up, we have a number of possible ways to develop out additional functionality that can potentially better address concerns like yours, but to start, we've got a laser focus on making a simple, unified arbitrage platform -- early feedback from the community will be crucial as to what functionality we focus on developing after that point -- all the more reason to jump in on the indiegogo campaign (http://igg.me/at/elqnt/x/6287383) and be part of the Round 1 Alpha :)

I like where this project is going -- would you add support for MintPal as well ? Also maybe include the top 20 coins IN VOLUME as that is where some of best opportunities arise

We've been watching MintPal and will probably be looking to add it in the round 2 alpha stage, most likely.  Thanks for the suggestion!

Re: coin volumes -- definitely!  We're still working on the UI for the charting components, but once that's good to show, I'll throw up a screencap for feedback.

I am a total noob trader and did my first arb trade on flappy coin yesterday and proudly made 15 bucks profit. Yes I am a small amoeba in the ocean of whales but I am testing the waters so was looking for an arbitrage trading software tool and found you so i am going to come in at the 250 bucks level. By the way I can't afford the 500 one at the moment but is there anyway to buy a silver coin and how much would it cost? :) I am not very technical either so will this be easy for non techie girls like me? :).

I just sent 250 bucks in btc and joined the alpha life time club so hopefully now I will not be a bagholder of coins anymore. I really would be happy to execute trades and even earn 5% on a trade will feel blessed, as long as I am not a constant loser lol. I think this will be my best trading investment. ;D

If you can't flow the capitals fast enough it doesn't work because you have to wait for fiat from bank transfers. Isn't it better just to build a team around the globe who can perform arbitrage manually only at different major exchanges? What are your advantages of doing this automatically: speed, reliability, etc...?

Title: Re: [ANNOUNCE] Elqnt | Arbitrage - A Bitcoin + Cryptocurrency Arbitrage Platform.
Post by: daybyter on May 11, 2014, 02:07:08 PM
Doing it automatically ensures, that the exchanges are monitored 24/7 and the calculations are executed quickly (and are hopefully correct). Since you have to consider several fees, it's better not to do this with a pocket calculator, or so.

However a global team should be helpful to create bank accounts in various countries, so you can transfer FIAT there and deposit it in local exchanges.
