Title: This thread in the Fit to Talk English project earned 20 merits
Post by: Jet Cash on July 05, 2018, 02:55:28 PM
This thread about the Brazilian truckers strike is well written, and earned 20 merits for bitmover. It is probably under merited, and I think it illustrates the type of quality threads that we could have on Bitcoin Talk. It also earned merits for some other posters including 9 for vit05 for a reply.

Instead of whingeing about the paucity of merits, and what a hard life you have in this forum, put some work into creating some decent content to improve the forum as well as your reputation.

I'm brazilian, actually his post is full of misinformation.

We would like to know about this.

I appreciate that you can't post in the ivory tower, but if you post in this thread, then I'll quote you and ensure that you get the credit. Make it interesting and informative, and I'll give you some merits.

why?
Because he is only jr. member. You should be at least Member to post in Ivory Tower section.

Offcourse, this post is very well written and deserves all these Merits. But in my opinion we should focus mainly on Bitcoin/crypto related content.

But in my opinion we should focus mainly on Bitcoin/crypto related content.

I agree that we should have some special purpose boards, and that Bitcoin should be a priority. However, Bitcoin has spawned a financial revolution, and I think it is important to discuss that as well. Elements of Bitcoin have also been adopted for use in a variety of new financial instruments, and those need to be discussed.

Bitcoin Talk is in a fairly unique position, it has a number of early adopters of Bitcoin in its membership, and a global mix of new members with a genuine interest in the emerging financial systems. There is also a number of statisticians who are able to provide us with some interesting financial analyses. Ivory Tower provides a venue to discuss geo-political issues without the problems of the TwitBook spammers. I think it is important to understand Bitcoin's place in the emerging world order.

It would be very interesting to see more discussions about Bitcoin's place in the world order.

For now we have very few examples of countries where bitcoin has played a relevant role.

I think Venezuela and Zimbabwe are examples of destroyed economy, where bitcoin is making a few people's life easier... even through this forum (with bounties)

Japan and South Korea are countries where we saw a nice adoption and governments are trying to embrace bitcoin with good regulations.

There is also China, where most of miners come from.... The government (and communist party) is probably somehow involved. I would like to hear about this from Chinese.

However, I don't see many members from these 4 countries in the forum. I wish they could comment this bitcoin situation there.

I brought a Venezuelan girl onto Fit to Talk, she came from outside the world of Bitcoin, and she has just managed to obtin an IT degree in Venezuela, that can't have been an easy task given the state of their political turmoil. She is a bit cautious about posting on public boards, as i believe that the government monitors internet comments. They probably do that in the UK as well, hence the Tommy Robinson issue.

Good job JC. Merit does not mean that you agree, only that a post is of quality.

Agree its great example author of this topic given how to quality post or how to get merit for your posts.
Its very important to not only take from others but to give something back at least sometimes.

So what point does this your thread illustrates that it has got merit from two people , as I always say, this merit is for family and friends given it to themselves and only occasional a stranger can give out merit base on the content. So you mean writing a long story like a thesis book is the only basis one can advance on this forum? if it is so, then most senior members here who for the purpose of be here long got the rank they occupied now don't deserve to be in their current rank's.

yeah...or leave. Work harder at getting merit or if it bothers you so much you should leave.

The whining only confirms that you're probably not ready for any merit.

To Jet Cash, was this a 'one off' comment by you or have you been trying to highlight great example posts for the youngsters on this forum to learn from?

I've been away for awhile.
