Do OP realize that bitcoin is 5 years old. And it costs more than 100$ just from about 1 year.

So your charts are not realy showing why Bitcoin days destroyed ...

Any news like that came out well before this crash so to say that is the cause is misrepresentation of actual events.

Does everyone seem to forget that last week we were at the fulcrum when gox shit the bed, took no responsibility and continues to try to point the finger at bitcoin while doing nothing themselves.

The large number of bitcoin days destroyed on 2013-12-21 can be seen mostly in block 276158, and on 2014-02-05 can be seen mostly in block 284349.  In both cases, the coins were last moved around 2011-03-01, and the coins seem to be controlled by the same entity.

For example, if you start with the 45592.95 BTC in address 1Kq6sr5A9bM82u1vRTByjCvvixm5dxwQuV, you can see that they are split into outputs of less than 5000 BTC on 2011-03-01.  Some of those outputs are redeemed on 2013-12-21 and others are redeemed on 2014-02-05.  The same is true of the 150000 BTC in address 1LYJHSep7gAtvePMPVdsXvnKeNM7ifHkEK.

As far as I can tell, the coins were just moved to a different storage location, and there is no connection to recent market activity or the issues with Mt. Gox.

There is always the posibility of a Over-The-Counter selling. Most thinking people would prefer to sell their >50k coins at a discount to reduce the friction of trading on an exchange.

When has "banning" anything make it go away?

Which countries?  Please provide a list.

Majority means most of the world, which is false.  Major countries implies countries with significant clout (high GDP, population, some other metric), which is also false.

Just popped in to say the UK is deeming bitcoin private money like the Germans.  I highly doubt we will see BTC banned in any legit democracy.

Nah it won't be banned, but I do think other things will replace it. Apple filed a patent for iMoney a long time ago. With the removal of the blockchain app, it looks like they're gearing up. They can reach the masses and not so technical people in a heartbeat.

iMoney may be able to build more streamlined means of utilizing existing financial infrastructure, but they will never be able to beat bitcoin's combination of a decentralized, inflation/corruption proof store of value and means of exchange. I don't expect them or governments to go down without a fight- the printing press resulted in centuries of wars that resulted in the Protestant/Catholic division of Europe along north south lines.
