CoinATMRadar (the site you mentioned) have all the statistics you need. It's currently 3450 ATMs. I'm pretty sure there are more but this is as accurate as you can get.

If you we see the charts (https://coinatmradar.com/charts/#growth), you can notice that the ATMs business is growing and more are being implemented each year so It's definitely exciting.

I know bitcoin ATMs probably has higher price cuts compared to buying off an exchange, but how bad are the fees actually? Haven't personally seen a bitcoin ATM personally.

EDIT: woops. Should have checked the link you provided first. 9.15% average fee. I'm definitely not using those. I'd only go for as high as 5% for convenience sake. Welp, publicity is publicity I guess.

Heh, Bitcoin debit cards used to go (*) to at least 2-3% conversion fee and 2-3% more to get to national currency. And those are not anonymous.
ATMs are considered anonymous and they have bigger operational costs too. So your 5% expectations are not realistic. (Of course, that doesn't mean that those fees are not way too big.)

(*) I wrote "used to go" since lately (after the Wavecrest issue) there are not too many card providers, they just started coming back and most don't have updated fees either, so it's hard to tell the current numbers.

Havent seen btc ATM yet, but I guess its working pretty good since these kind of business are growing progressively.
I am also surprised by the number of ATM units in my country, probably because it didnt get my interest since I dont have a plan on using these ATM's. Well, I didnt expect we have those so far.

The sad thing is that most of them are just one way ATM's where you can buy Bitcoins. I feel all of the ATM's apart from USA and UK are one sided where you can only buy.

When I first see this thread, I look for the country I belong, and see if we have available Bitcoin ATM. And fortunately, I was surprise that we have 9 locations that Bitcoin ATM is available in our country. I also have never been able to see a Bitcoin ATM personally but I hope that sooner or later I'll be able to find and use of it.

I happened to use these machines once in Makati (in the Phils.) out of curiosity and after doing ins and outs, I managed to get a net gain of 430 out of the 500-peso bill initial deposit, which hints that the machine takes 7% service or 'convenience' fee which I think isn't that bad when you only do small deposits and withdrawals. It's still better than exchanges when it comes to convenience but AFAIK, these machines can only dispense a certain amount of cash every day, so the question of effectivity and feasibility still stands. Nevertheless, these ATMs make the curious mind dig deeper, thus creating some form of interest from the unknowing Joes and I think that's good.

Quite lucky here in Australia, probably around 30% of them allow you to sell as well as buy: https://www.findbitcoinatm.com.au (https://www.findbitcoinatm.com.au) (Australia only site)

Haven't used one yet though

I haven't tried cashing out on any bitcoin atm but I love to see one day doing it, it's going to be a great feeling if I can do it, its like Bitcoin has finally come mainstream, but its a part of bitcoin adoption, we now have to work on making countries install many atm so it would make easy for everybody to buy and cashout bitcoin.

Woow..that is a huge list to be honest and i never knew bitcoin had grown to such extent that there are so many bitcoin ATM outlets around the world. This is really a sign of victory to the crypto community since at least there is a hope that bitcoin is being accepted by the masses of people in and even some governments these days are granting the use of cryptocurrencies in their country.

i dont know but i prefer withdrawing on a remittance provider than on atm because their fees are insanely high i save more using remittance provider than atm. having a atm for a specific thing doesnt mean its mainstream.

Bitcoin debit cards provide a different service though. You use bitcoin debit cards to be able to shop in person and online without the use of cash. Unfortunately BTC payments are simply just not that widespread in most countries currently(especially 3rd world countries).

On bitcoin ATMs, you could use other services(LocalBitcoins, other exchanges) as an alternative to save money from the fees in sacrifice of the convenience. I agree though that 5% on bitcoin ATMs are quite unrealistic unfortunately. I'm just implying that I personally am not willing to pay more than 5% for purchasing bitcoin.

Great find indeed. In my country there is only one Bitcoin ATM at the moment. Some Asian countries like Japan has a large number of bitcoin ATMs. It's indeed good for the whole cryptocurrency industry as a whole. The fees they charge are a bit high though. But as more and more users get involved in crypto, there will be more and more ATMs and fees will probably reduce. Government regulations are a good thing for mass adoption I believe.

Same thing with me, I didn't saw this kind of ATM machine yet but I think if the charging fee for this one is reasonable for sure I will use it. Happy to see that a lot of Bitcoin ATM's around the world, this only means that the world is getting ready for the adoption of this technology, I hope for more bitcoin atm machines in my place.

If it is one sided, it means it is deficient somehow because the fiat ATM is dual purpose. Anyway, it is very good to know that the number of ATM for btc is increasing daily.

Yeah. I think that having a Bitcoin ATM will ables you to be proud of being a Bitcoin earner as well as Bitcoin user. In the past many years, bitcoin is just a piece of shit in the society but as of now, it is treated already as one of the legitimate cryptocurrency in many countries that can exchange into money. This is very good  for us.

Not necessarily. ATMs have a certain limit and some of them will ask you for passport (there is a camera in the ATM). There is of course a workaround, which is using another phone number.

This defeats the purpose in my opinion. The only reason I would personally actually buy or sell bitcoin with 9%-10% fees is for anonymity reasons(as it's almost impossible to find a local buyer/seller in my country). Requiring a passport on an ATM is probably overkill.

Never had I expected of such good statistics of BTC ATMs worldwide. hope to see some in my country India soon. But before that I really hope we get to make India a bitcoin friendly nation soon  :P

Right now the situation in the country is really bad, RBI has released a statement banning the trading and investing in crypto coins. Even the leading Indian wallet Zebpay has announced discontinuation of its some of the prominent services of the bitcoin.

P.S.: BTC ATMs seem to be a dream for India right now.

It's been a while since I've checked those stats, didn't realize there were so many, last time I check there were only like 1500 or so.
Would never use them myself though, the fees are way too high and it's a hassle as opposed to some of the local online exchanges we have here.

Anyway, I'm also interest on how bitcoin ATM works since the distance between my home and ATM location is too far !

Outside of silicone valley, tel aviv, and perhaps a few other unusual locations around the world, I really don't think there is much of a demand for Bitcoin atms at the moment. I suspect it will be a long time before you can expect a Bitcoin ATM to receive any degree of major usage in most city centres.

The charges and the price these ATMs offer is much higher than the average rate of bitcoins in any online exchange. I once used a bitcoin ATM in Brussels and the rate I got for withdrawal was about 5 percent less than the amount I would have convert my bitcoins to fiat on an exchange.

The number of ATMs around the world continues to grow and today it has already exceeded 3,000. On average, 6 new cryptoautomatic machines are appearing every day in the world.Taking into account that a milestone of 1000 units was reached only 15 months ago, it can be concluded that during the entire 2017 and the first half of the current, 2018, the network was deployed at an accelerated pace, which indicates an unprecedented increase in the popularity of virtual currencies.
In this case, operators of similar machines remain in the clear advantage, even despite the high volatility of digital coins. Their fees for the transaction are on average 8-8,5%.

Basically an ATM whereas you can buy or sell bitcoin. You insert the fiat money, they the machine sends you BTC to your wallet; and vice versa.
