Title: One address of Silk Road 2.0 stolen coins found, +/- 40,000 coins!
Post by: bitcoinlitcoinbtcltc on February 14, 2014, 05:00:33 PM
https://blockchain.info/address/1DKH2oZtrcAAoZXsNJQnKBwKYaYdx5KrVV

A total of 88,000 bitcoins were stolen in total.
Not dumped yet. Last time a hacker dumped coins, bitcoins crashed to $102 on BTC !!

And that was just a 3,000 coin sell-off.

Prepare for the worst !

So, you steal 88,000 coins and your next move is to provide all your KYC information to an exchange as soon as possible? Hmmm...

Ask 10-20 of their buddies to dump for them and they get a cut. Nobody would know who the hacker was.

By "not dumped yet" you mean "This address has a lot of BTC and my educated guess is that they are stolen".

Why don't FUD-peddlers at least try? Please make your next post funny like proudhon used to do.

Whether this is the address or not does not matter.

What matters is there is no way these guys are going to dump their coins in any public manner. They are going to do the smart thing and just hold onto the coins and wait awhile. Then after zerocoin or something similar comes along they can clear the tainted history and exit cleaning, or if that doesn't happen start to exit a little at a time with off exchange transactions.

As massive as Silk Road 2.0 had grown, I find it impossible to believe that there was 88'000, or even 40'000 coins being held in escrow awaiting online dope deals to be finalised.

What I read, was 8800 BTC. This was from the statement that DPR 2 himself made. The person who most people think is actually behind the heist.

You wouldn't have added an extra 0 onto that figure out of poetic license now would you?

That's odd.

If you trace the largest transactions sent to that address back a way you eventually come to the address 1HBa5ABXb5Yx1YcQsppqwKtaAGFPYe5xzY. Searching for that address I found this page http://bitcoinaires.com/ (http://bitcoinaires.com/) which lists the iHBa address on the 4th line down with a comment that "most bitcoins were received from BitStamp exchange wallet 12sENwECeRSmTeDwyLNqwh47JistZqFmW8". It doesn't seem likely that this would be related to Silk Road 2.0 in any way in my opinion.
