In any ecosystem, be it in nature or business, there is always a competition. And most often than not, the best always rises to the top. And here in our crypto ecosystem, a competition do also exist. Between Bitcoin and Altcoin. We all very well known that bitcoin, being the first and most proven cryptocurrency already took the center stage in crypto market. Now that altcoins came into the picture, where does it really stands? What will be the selling point of altcoin that will eventually led the bitcoin enthusiasts to finally switch places?

Altcoins would be as important but it would take time.
Cryptocurrencies is still a new thing to the world and their applications sectors and indefinite at the moment only halted by the speed of adaption as by nature the world resists any sudden change. Bitcoin is the mother of all but she can't always lead the new emerging technologies.

I really think Altcoins already have an important in the community, Because of the introduction of Altcoins there are now trading between bitcoin and other coins, And because of the introduction of Altcoins there are introductions of ICO and tokens that are now very hype with investors, speculators, traders, And bounty hunters most of the time, Well there are some Altcoins that are really shining the brightest and may become a real competitor for bitcoin in the future.

I don't think it's possible at the moment, because the United States and many other countries only recognize bitcoin.

Bitcoin and Altcoins are important in the same way because they are somehow interconnected with each other. For example, the price of Altcoins is dictated by the price of Bitcoin. We can say that it Bitcoin is important to Altcoin. And for the Altcoins, it is important because it has the possibility to earn a x10 or bigger profits, to buy those Altcoins, we need Bitcoins.

I honestly think some may be just as important, if not more important depending on adoption. 95% or more of the current coins will be gone in 2-5 years but the ones that actually succeed will be valued.

Not all Altcoin is important, and certainly not all altcoin good and potential to have. but is this altcoin as important as Bitcoin ?! the answer is yes, Altcoin is very important, because the presence of altcoin is also greatly affect the price of Bitcoin.

First of all, you talk about altcoins as if they were one single thing and that's not the case. There are more than a thousand altcoins, counting tokens. In my opinion, altcoins are already as important as bitcoin, they make up a bigger part of the market right now and people are more inclined to invest in altcoins because they stand to get more ROI from investing in altcoins now than they would if they invested in just bitcoin alone. Even though the price of altcoins is not as high than bitcoin, I think some of them have proven their importance in the crypto industry. Look at ethereum, the most supported altcoin in terms of ICO projects. Some projects even only accepts buying token through eth only.

Some altcoins are really important. There are many subculture altcoins such as quick money dispatch, improvement of health services, easy betting. But none can be as important and valuable as bitcoin :)

It is very natural for competition to exist in a market, the same goes for the market of crypto currency. Competition will exist between bitcoin and ALT coin. But it cannot be said which will dominate in the future. If the alt coins provides better facility then it will be successful. But even this will take time as most people only recognizes Bitcoin.

I believe that of all the altcoins only Ethereum can compete with bitcoin.

Who said Altcoin is not important? Altcoin has popular and potential coins like Ethereum, EOS, Ripple etc. Maybe it didn't reach the level of bitcoin in terms of volume and popularity. Altcoins will always be essential cryptos besides Bitcoins because if they lack altcoins, the cryptocurrency market will be very bleak. Hence altcoins are unlikely to be replaced or removed from the market although there are currently a lot of altcoins as well as scam ICO projects. It really depends on what altcoins are you referring to. There are lots of altcoins that are left underdeveloped and unnoticed. Some are just shitcoins spamming the crypto market. Others are only used for pump and dumps. For me, no one can surpass or even level up the same as what bitcoin have experienced in the past few years of performance in the market.

I believe that there are altkoins not inferior to bitcoin. Many undervalued coins, which are no worse than the bitcoin itself. And generally it's always good when there is an alternative. Therefore, the more good coins, the better.

I don't agree that "the best always rises to the top". There are many examples where the inferior solution wins out over the more technically superior. VHS vs Betamax being just one example. Often the effect of having an established network is able to insulate the technically inferior like Bitcoin from more technologically impressive coins. Right now Bitcoins dominance is reflected by the high correlation of prices between Bitcoin and the Altcoins. When the Altcoins begin trading more on their own merits it will be a sign that Bitcoins dominance is ending.

Altcoin is important but will not like bitcoin, only for alternative. I'm not lucky with bitcoin but when I try use altcoin for trade I get profit and helping me send received payment. If bitcoin alone is available in the market this could have never gained such an importance as well it could have never grown high. When there is competence automatically each asset will try to grow above the other. This will let each asset progress as well it gets technology wise advanced over the other.

Bitcoin is currently the most reliable coin in my opinion. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about altcoins. That's when they become as reliable, then people will switch from bitcoin.

Most of investorts consider that BTC will be on the throne forever. I cannot agree with this people, but in the same time I cannot name the token that would become new king.

This is a very interesting and difficult question. So far, bitcoin takes the lead. But it is unknown in what direction this innovation will go as a blockchain. The situation can go either way. And it is unknown what criteria will be important in the future.

Bitcoin isn't the best coin, it's not the fastest or cheapest in terms of fees. So, I think it will be just a matter of time when another coin takes over the number 1 spot. It won't happen in next couple of years, but it will happen. Right now Bitcoin is just too popular and famous, it was the first and changes in peoples' minds will take time.
