Post by: Leandro César on October 03, 2011, 11:48:09 PM

Utilizing the great opportunity that Bitcoin offers, the investment group offers up to 12% return in 30 days.

This is the very first of its kind in Brazil, it is now offered to the entire Bitcoin community.

Lets all make profits!

Original Brazilian post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=46721.0

English version:

Investment Group

The Bitcoin long become a great tool for investment and speculation.

We have almost a hundred Exchanges around the world working with dozens of different currencies.

As might be expected, there is a slight or even significant variation between these values Exchanges and always will be. Is the difference between the exchange coins or even the dynamics of supply and demand that each exchange suffers.

Several tools were developed not only to track this variation, but also to act effectively in the sign of a profit opportunity.

It followed this movement for a few months and we have managed to successfully carry out operations that represent a good profit margin.

We are creating an investment group to maximize the potential of this work that will create the following results:

- Generates profits for investors above the industry standard in traditional investments.
- Disseminate bitcoin as a reliable and secure investment.

Let's start the first group of 200 investment quotas bitcoin 1 each. You can purchase as many shares you want, until it reaches the total value of 200. What this move, will be in a queue to be called as the investment cycle is followed.

The dimensions are valid for 200 investments in 15 days minimum. You can extend your investment for 30 days at most. When choosing 15 days, means that after winning this period, that share will be available again for another investor, and you enter the queue again.

We decided to open a smaller group first in order to guarantee payments made. As the group is succeeding, others will be opened the same size of quotas.

Description of the first group:

Starting: 10/10/2011
Duration: 15 or 30 days (calendar)
Dimensions: 200 1 each BTC
15 days Yield: at least 4%, reaching around 6%
30 days Yield: at least 9%, reaching around 12%
Administrative fee: 0.60% on income

To participate:
Send an email to invest@bitcoinbrasil.com.br with:
- Number of shares that you want
- Period of investment: 15 or 30 days
- Address to receive Bitcoin

You will receive confirmation with the address Bitcoin to perform the transfer.

Will be accepted for this group committed transactions to the 0 hours of 09.10.2011 (24 hours before the start date)

Withdrawal: 3 working days after the period of investment in BTC.

Warranty: Regardless of the progress of the investment will be paid the minimum income provided within chosen.

Some questions:

As this value is applied?

As I said before, we monitor the Exchange that most have some volume and exchange rate variations, and operate when it is presented a good business opportunity.

Is to apply in money?

No. This group will operate only via Bitcoins.

How do I keep track?

Everyone in the group will receive emails every 5 days with the latest information on investment and earnings forecast for the end of the period.

What is the minimum and maximum quota I can purchase?

At least one of BTC and a maximum number of shares that are available.

It is interesting to invest in Bitcoins?

Yes, the bitcoin has reached this year to around 30 USD! You can profit from the change in the same or even on the variation of the dollar. Wink

Any questions, we are here.

Let's make money?

Hugs.

Hello investors!

Without doubt this was a turbulent week for the Bitcoin.

We are witnessing a massive devaluation of the same against the U.S. dollar.

In practice profile operations, such a move was positive,
it invested to increase the bitcoins.

All bitcoins invested to date (8 days) yielded 4.07%, until now!

Our first payment to 15 days investors, will be
now from October 25.

In another few days will bring more news as well as the dates for
next groups.

Firmly believe that this is only a temporary devaluation
natural cycle of a new currency.

Let's do bitcoins!

Any questions, we are here.

Hugs.

Leandro kept his word. I must say, i was not very optimistic based on the dive from 5 to around 2, however I received exactly 6.97% interest on what I invested with him.

So far he has kept every word and has been professional in all his communication

Has to be a Ponzi scheme.

There are already people running 'bots for Bitcoin arbitrage. That's why the remaining exchanges track each other so closely. That window has closed.

Some points to consider for anyone thinking of putting their money in this:

1. The monthly yield equals a yearly ROI of > 180% (the daily profit that was given later equals > 400% yearly ROI). These numbers are ridiculously large.
2. What would you do if you had the ability to do that kind of investing:
    A) do massive amount of work dealing with small investors, and get 0.6% of the profit, or ...
    B) invest your own or loaned money, getting all the profit for much less work?
3. There's no mention of risk, only a promise of at least 9% monthly yield.
4. Vaguely described arbitrage tools that somehow beat the market are a _classic_ Ponzi story (really, there are countless versions)

I admit it's possible that I'm just throwing away my chance to become fabulously rich here, but I think I'll still rather take my chances with the lottery.

Yeah, the way I see it:

This can't be done for some ideological reason about supporting Bitcoin, or opensource, or whatever else makes people generous.

And if it is done purely for profit, then why deal with small investments if you are truly confident.

No disrespect meant, I hope you are real and nice and will one day give me a marshmallow, but for now the burden of proof is on you. (bearing in mind I have not researched you at all too *looks at feet*)

If that's his "trick" then it's a valid strategy. IFF he also pays out if the price rises, of course…

Unless the investment manager is very up front about the risks involved and acknowledges investors can lose their entire investment at any time, it has all the hallmarks of a scam.  Any return of over 10%pa needs to be approached with special caution.

If the manager truly has a special secret way of playing the market they wouldn't be advertising it.  They would keep it quietly to themselves while raking in the USD/BTC.

He has payed me as well. 13.06% increase, and of that increase a small amount of 2.5% was removed, leaving me with about 12.73% profit.
Doesn't mean it's not a ponzi though, he might just be building trust waiting for larger investments.

Thanks for pointing this out. I am testifying against someone in court for doing just this; they said they were using forex bots when in fact they spent it on a house and horses. It's destroyed families; no one expected it. He's expected to go to jail.
He simply built trust by taking and return deposits knowing that most people wouldn't cash in at the same time much like a bank. They appeared to have a track record of 2%/month and were paying out regularly.
Like this fund it was advertised that currency was traded via statisical arbitridge (bots) but actually this wasn't happening.

What suprised me personally is how someone can do this and fool closer people like family and friends. I know where he lives, where his family lives and i can break thier legs. Plus, when real bot stategies are available for purchase so easily these days why not just do it for real? I think the answer is that he got in too deep, something like that, snowballing. My guess is that he fooled even himself

But there is somethings that speak about me:

I have a bitcoin exchange here in Brazil: www.mercadobitcoin.com.br

You can see our numbers on bitcoincharts: http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/mrcdBRL_trades.html

Some numbers of our groups:

Group 1: 12 investors
Group 2: 7 investors
Group 3: 7 investors
Group 4: 10 investors
Group 5: 6 investors (until now)

Four groups, five months of a good work!

No one says: "This guy take my money!"

I feel happy on you question about the "tools". I did think that nobody want it!

There is a lot work to do yet. I cant say right now when, but I will finish this soon.

This is all that I can give to you, sorry.

Any questions, I am here.

If I deserve your confidence, you are welcome to invest.

Lets make some bitcoins?

(Sorry about my english..)

I introduce the first Brazilian Bitcoin investment group.

Hugs.

L.

so this one is already dead right?  investors lost most of the btc sent?

Well, oddly enough, even if this round fails, I will have been happy with the the previous rounds.  It is obviously not a ponzi because every round is paid out in full.  And the activity that goes on behind the returns.

Micon might want to start looking through the securities section for more victims.

I am so sick and tired of people calling scams with no evidence, with no proof and absolutely everything based on theories and their "all knowing" about scams. I don't get pissed off a lot but for fuck sake stop attacking Leandro, you pieces of shit. Unless you have some serious evidence against him then shut up and let people make their own decision if they want to invest with him or not. Leandro, is a really nice guy and I have invested with him from the start and he has always paid back fully.

Please stop this witch hunt!

Just because I've read what the brazilian authorities are up to with BIG, I've decided to put my bitcoins in upcoming group or through your new website. Having a great return on a monthly investment is a plus.
I'm happy to see them testing bitcoin, as I believe this is a bite they just cannot chew on easily as with anything fiat or material based.
Good luck to them trying, and best wishes to Leandro and his commitment to what he's doing right now.

Unless you have some serious evidence against him then shut up and let people make their own decision if they want to invest with him or not. Leandro, is a really nice guy and I have invested with him from the start and he has always paid back fully.

Please stop this witch hunt!

Leandro "is a really nice guy" and pirateat40 has a "WoT rating". Leandro (like the rest of them) is a clear copy-cat.

And I am sick and tired of all these endless scams claiming to generate fantastical profits with no proof and zero evidence. No extraordinary evidence of their extraordinary profits, just a bunch of fanciful what-ifs and could-be's: money-laundering profits, coin-laundering profits, arbitrage profits, trading profits. Or interest paid by borrowers, but there are no borrowers! A duck is a duck and a spade is a spade.

All these "interest" and "insurance" programs are new, inspired by pirate's success, probably people who were doing e-gold and LR HYIPs jumping on the bitcoin bandwagon because that's where the growth is. These are a bunch of counter-productive scams. They aren't useful services which contribute to bitcoin and they don't increase the fundamental value, they hurt it!

Take this thread off of "Economics", start a "bitcoinhyipscam.com" forum, and go promote there!

Bitcoin Rain?! Don't be fooled. I'm happy for your if you take your gains before everyone else, but when you lose all your principal it won't even make me chuckle.

have you ever heard of innocent until proven guilty?
This is something a majority of everyone in the world follows and stands for. To accuse someone of something without any proof when you only argument is you haven't proved the opposite, is wrong. Leandro has explained several times what he does and if you observe his exchange you can see that he's doing arbitrage between MTGox us price and his own exchange.

I agree scams are counter productive but so is name calling and false accusations without proof. We should support transparency and open books, but we should not accuse every single lender or investor that's offering a deposit for being a ponzi. It's insane, if you want to accuse someone get proof then present it. To scream ponzi proves nothing and achieves nothing, so just stop it.

How can this be a ponzi when each round he pays out the full amount including the interest, how does he pay the extra interest? Maybe by his profits, oh wait... not a ponzi :)
Please stop screaming scam with no proof, it's getting silly

If he pays out each round in full to members of this forum that is interesting.

We don't know if he is running any other schemes that could be used to pay this one off in full and then reinvest.  If he did that, he'd never have to pay off everyone in full at the same time.  That wouldn't make it a Ponzi but it would be a scan and unlikely to last longer than a couple years.

He has lower interest rates than Pirate - so it is likely to last longer (if it is a scam).

There is no evidence of any business model other than his undocumented claims. Combine that with very high rates of return that are always positive and you have me highly skeptical.  It's like Bernie Madoff - he never lost money even when the market was down.  I hope everyone has read the EVE story in my sig.

Finally, it is harder for us English speakers to know so much about him as he works in Brazil and is primarily active in Portuguese.

WOW, I've been offline for a couple of days traveling and I just tuned in to all the drama! I've been investing with Leandro for months now and I couldn't be happier. All this ponzi talk is just nonsense - the returns differ from month to month, they are not guaranteed and everything is paid out at the end of the month (including principal if you ask for it). ! I don't understand why so many people on this forum cry scam and ponzi anytime someone is making a profit, even though the slightest shred of evidence is never presented. Why is it so hard to believe that someone is simply making some trades, arbitraging and/or doing local currency to BTC exchanges?!

everything is paid out at the end of the month (including principal if you ask for it).

that's a conflicting statement.

you mean to say the principle is not paid out at the end of each month unless it is specifically requested.

since not everyone will withdraw at once, this does not give any defense that the investment fund still has the principal (original investment) of all investors that have no withdrawn.  i'm not suggesting that this is what is happening, but you claiming that no withdrawals have been refused as a sort of assurance is a misleading assertion.

there is more than enough history where funds paid out like clockwork until the day they didn't.

The more people who claim to arbitrage, the less likely any of them are making large profits.  It shouldn't take that many people to drive arbitrage profits down to near zero.  So I'd expect that arbitrage profits would be short-lived and in decline.

I'd expect that speculation would be zero-sum and often lose money.  If Leandro is very lucky and/or talented and doesn't lose money on it, then one of the other people speculating will.  I wouldn't expect that people who gamble, I mean speculate, with other people's money are any better at it than people who use their own money.  However it isn't funny how we don't see any of these investment groups ever lose money?  By contrast, investor genius Soros will lose money - and get a negative return for an entire year.

Now he might be able to make some money doing business in Brazil.  However, I wouldn't expect the high returns he is providing.

Hi Leandro,

1. Is Bitcoin Rain affiliated with your other business, the "Mercado Bitcoin" exchange (www.mercadobitcoin.com.br) in any way?

2. Are Bitcoin Rain investment funds co-mingled with those of Mercado Bitcoin in any way?

3. Does Bitcoin Rain trade on the Mercado Bitcoin exchange for any reason?

4. Does the CVM's closure of your Bitcoin Rain venture ("in Brazil") effect Mercado Bitcoin in any way?

5. Did the regulators give you any trouble with Mercado Bitcoin or do you expect to receive any additional scrutiny in the future?

Thanks for your answers!

I asked the same question to Leandro once via email and he stated that he does not have any Pirate exposure.

I was looking at the FAQs here:

https://www.bitcoinrain.com/investment_group/

And it seems that Leandro's profits come from arbitraging. Hopefully Leandro will confirm in this thread.

Have you stopped to think that maybe those arbitraging opportunities are his own bids/asks and that he is indeed profiting from it, while also providing liquidity to his exchange?

+1 and "already" added for emphasis.

Pirate's suckers didn't lose their coins today they lost them weeks or months ago.  A ponzi by definition is insolvent the day it pays it's first interest payment.  While Pirate's suckers got final confirmation today (and a unofficial one 12 days ago) the actual coins were lost a long long time ago.

Friends,

I have secured an investigator to examine this operation, and now you all should simply face the facts:

No current depositor is ever going to receive any money from Bitcoin Rain.

Leandro has been desperately stalling & telling lies about "drawings for repayments" (really Leandro? a "lottery?") hoping that everyone here will simply give up, and move on.

If it makes it any easier to stomach; understand that your funds did not disappear in these recent weeks: They were simply consumed long ago (in a classic Ponzi scheme) to repay early investors their interest and withdrawals (of course other than what Leandro skimmed off for his personal use)

There never was a hacker, a theft, or anyone else at fault other than Leandro's creation of a Ponzi scheme (just like pirateat40)

You can shout at Leandro until the end of time (or until he shrinks off into the shadows) but you won't get any money from him - there is no more money left to further this Ponzi scheme.

It's over -- learn from it.

Sorry friend, but it is only your THEORY.

Shadows?? I am always here!

What you win with the posts like this??

I can confirm that Leandro is a scammer and should have a scammer tag. This should, to be honest, be referred to the Scammer forum on bitcointalk.

I have business dealings in Brazil. My partner is ThiagoCMC, who is a moderator on the Portuguese forums. He unfortunately had to deal with Leandro last year, as a customer of "Mercado Bitcoin". Unforunately, Leandro stole his bitcoins and then claimed they were lost in a "theft". My partner lost 2,000 BTC.

Feel free to message ThiagoCMC about it. He speaks some English.

It is for this reason Thiago decided to set up Bitfication, which is a completely legitimate and honest - NON Ponzy Scheme - Bitcoin Exchange in Brazil.

I strongly recommend you to avoid dealing with Leandro or any of his associated businesses in the future. He is a known scammer and my client is *still* pursuing him for his money (now worth a lot more than it was last year).

I very much prefer to taunt the scammer(you). I have no obligations to moderate anything, you moron. I do what I can, when I can, if I feel like it, and that's all the forum asks from me. Only disgusting motherfuckers like you think that Moderators should just keep their mouth shut and have no opinions. It doesn't work like that over here.
If you have any complaints about my moderation, start a thread on the Meta section. If not, well... just shut the fuck up about me being a moderator once and for all.

Hello Bitcoinrain users! Please if you had some amount of investiments at Bitcoinrain, we are in the Portuguese Forum trying to find more transparency to this issue as you can see on these topics: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=327848.0 and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=160150.0

I would like to know how many investments do you hold by Bitcoinrain and if you had any investment payed since the hack. (you don't need to specify values i just need the ammount of investments). We are gathering information to try to find more transparency in the process of getting our money back. Lots of people had investments there and need to be repaid. And getting together to make a more efficient action in regarding to this.

I thank for your cooperation,

Mark

You are getting closer and closer to become the next person with a HUGE scammer tag here, on this forum.

WHERE ARE MY ~2400.00 BITCOINS ???  -  That you "lost" at MercadoBitcoin.com.br? You presented no evidence at all. No logs, no blockchain tracking, nothing... Only lies.

Oh! I know, you are selling my Bitcoins at your site, mercadobitcoin.com.br, everybody knows.

So, or you'll end up in jail or get killed (not by me, because I don't believe that killing you, will solve this situation, it will make it worse, in the end). Please, return my Bitcoins BEFORE you wake up with your mouth full of ants.

This is your last warning, return my Bitcoins, or face the consequences.

Without further ado,
Thiago

I take all you 3 live in the same country, yes ? This has been running for so long I would image you got a lot of information from him, what's stopping you to fill proper reports regarding the situation, contacting authorities, ... ? Please, don't give a fuck about getting him a scammer tag because that will solve no problems.

Leandro,

Cadê os meus ~2200 Bitcoins que "sumiram" no Mercado Bitcoin e que até agora você não me devolveu? E nem apresentou nenhum evidência deste suposto roubo...
Leandro,

WHERE ARE MY ~2400.00 BITCOINS ???  -  That you "lost" at MercadoBitcoin.com.br? You presented no evidence at all. No logs, no blockchain tracking, nothing... Only lies.

Which number is correct?

Is that an attempt to defend the scammer ? I'm failing to see any relevance there, one of them could've made a typo but so what ?

No. I am not defending Léandro in any way. Just curious.

I have deposited there: 2.260,7811916 Bitcoins - MtGox / Blockchain / E-Mails can confirm everything.

But Leandro "froze" the Bitcoins value at 82.50 USD and he is still accounting an "interest rate" on top of a new debt in USD (how crazy is he?).

Today, the value in USD that Leandro "reports" by e-mail, is about ~2,400.00 Bitcoins @ 82.50 USD, rounding it up.

Best,
Thiago

L.

???

Man, are you crazy?
