Title: User YoutubeTV scammer
Post by: fulgerul46 on July 16, 2018, 04:49:52 PM
So with Amazon Prime day I thought I can buy a gift card with crypto, first I've tried with bitpanda.com, but I can't get verified in my country so I went and checked on bitcointalk if someone was selling and I found this post https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3315079.0 . ( seems pretty legit right?, wrong)
My first mistake was that I haven't even checked the trust level, I just thought that if it had some pages from people that "bought from him" everything is alright, don't do that, always check.
I've added him on telegram at the beginning he said that he only has 50 € and 100 € on amazon.de so I gave up, but he contacted me after a while and told me that he got a 75€ gift card (a bit more than the Kindle that I wanted to buy) so I was glad and I said that I will take it.
Well I should have thought more about this and how did he get a 75€ gift card, my second mistake.
He said  that 50€ (third mistake) is okay and asked me to send him 50$ at first, I told him that he may be wrong and calculated in $.
Well and that's how I got scammed, probably is not that important for everyone but at least I hope I can help someone not being scammed.
TLDR: Don't be stupid.

There is absolutely nothing legitimate going on with his sales thread. It's self moderated, it's locked to prevent comments, and there is obvious astroturfing going on with all of his shills vouching for him (pretty obvious given the repetitiveness of it all).

He's a known scammer that has ripped off countless others. Most of the people don't have a bitcointalk account, and contact him directly on Telegram for a purchase.

The reason why he locks and self moderates his thread is to limit the accusations from stopping his sales. Common scammer tactics.

Always remember to deal with a escrow, and never buy from anyone off-site if they a) have a negative reputation on the forum b) have an autobuy link/uses telegram/whatsapp instead of forum communication and c) if their thread is self moderated and locked. YoutubeTV checks all of these boxes. You're right, OP. Don't be stupid. These scammers feed off stupidity.

You mean this wasn't enough to convince you?  Why would you send this lowlife cockroach  scumbag scammer any money?  Just read his trust. Redder than his ass after his mommy spanked him for scamming.

Sorry for the loss, man.

Even if you did get the Amazon gift card from him, it's very unlikely that he obtained it from legitimate sources. If he's able to offer you such steep discounts, it certainly would mean that the sources of the cards are probably fraudulent at worst, questionable at best.

Never buy stuff without escrow, and never buy gift cards without receipts from an untrusted source. Make sure that your deals stay on forum. Also, this person is a known scammer, always do a quick search for the person's trust history and reputation before you make a deal.

Probably because OP didn't have an account, so he couldn't see the trust. That's the dangerous part of autobuy links and telegram sellers with locked threads, they primarily target newbies without an account to see their history.

I'm sorry for your loss, but I think the forum policy contributed to this scam? "Adding a warning message such as [Avoid auto-buy links, mainly locked or self-moderated. Register before dealing (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3035620.0)] or [Remember to read the instructions in the sticky topics]"
Also, blame you for your neglect because you should do in-depth research before buying to unknown people.
Buying cards involve high risks such as being scammed, stolen or illegal source "All the risk will back to you, the police will visit you," so do not buy them from an untrusted source "this includes using escrow services [trusted bitcointalk users, localbitcoin, and paxful]"
Youtube tv is a known scammer, and this is a lesson for you. Lost your money is better than buying cards and getting into legal problems.

if you want to purchase this cards using legal way try this ----> https://copay.io/ (https://copay.io/)
