I would also recommend looking through this old forum posts and digging up the Press section to see news that made it to the site, and also serves as evidence for the facts. Similarly you could go through archives of some of the old news sites to look for important events that happened.
I see the date for Nakamoto's last post. Maybe also a date for the first and last known correspondence for him? Emails. Also, the message attached to the genesis block is quite important for historians... about the bailout. Title: Re: Bitcoin history, a fact for each day! Post by: buwaytress on July 27, 2018, 01:17:59 PM There's this timeline that was started on http://historyofbitcoin.org/, quite a lot of useful dates to make note of, for me particularly, the dates Bitcoin value was first established on an exchange (October 5 2009) and quote:

The history of the bitcoin and its inventor is quite amazing, however it is wiser and smarter to keep things simple.

Even if timelines and history are really just for posterity, even if they have no value to take from going forward, there's still a lot of human interest in the past. @OP: I neglect to ask, out of curiosity, what's your stake in all this? Title: Re: Bitcoin history, a fact for each day! Post by: oksgvardukraine2018 on August 07, 2018, 12:26:22 PM There Are Now More Than 3,500 Bitcoin ATMs Worldwide
While not as widely used as those made for fiat currency, cryptocurrency ATMs remain a popular medium for buying and selling cryptocurrency such as bitcoin. Today marks a milestone, as there are now over 3,500 bitcoin ATMs installed and operational around the world. ATM Count Breaks the 3,500 Mark The latest data from Coinatmradar — a leading authority that tracks bitcoin ATM locations — shows the slump in bitcoin prices hasn’t had much impact in the rate at which crypto ATMs are being installed and used across the world. The data shows there are currently 3,503 bitcoin ATMs across the globe, as of press time. Out of these installed ATMs, 1,846 (about 52.7 percent) support altcoins with 49 percent and 32.1 percent of these ATMs supporting litecoin and ether, respectively. This new milestone comes 17 months after the total number of bitcoin ATMs surpassed the 1,000 installation mark in early 2017. America Keeps its Spot The data from Coinatmradar reports that North America has the largest concentration of ATMs globally, with a whopping 2,594 bitcoin ATMs installed, which translates to 74.05% of the total spread of ATMs installed across the world. Following North America, albeit still far away, is Europe — where the United Kingdom and Austria, dominate, followed closely by Russia and the Czech Republic. https://www.ccn.com/there-are-now-more-than-3500-bitcoin-atms-worldwide/ Title: Re: Bitcoin history, a fact for each day! From that, we can sense that it's really going a good direction, contrary to what others say that it's nearly dying. From its very humble beginning (particularly in 2009 when it was first mined to 2013 when it reached $1B market cap), we can see that bitcoin had developed greatly, and even though it's hardly dumped now, I still believe that there's more to it. The best of bitcoin is yet to come, and it's just starting to make its history.

The development of bitcoin in my opinion is very extraordinary, considering that ten years ago when it was created the price was only enough to buy pizza, now it costs thousands of dollars for one bitcoin. So do not see the development of bitcoin prices every day, but must be in a certain period of time, for example every year. The history of bitcoin is good enough to predict, but don't worry It is certainly not fair to link the decline in bitcoin prices lately with the destruction that seems to be going on with this digital currency, even though this in my opinion is only a price cycle that is sure to overwrite any business field. So be patient and believe that bitcoin will be successful again. Title: Re: Bitcoin history, a fact for each day! Post by: xWolfx on March 22, 2019, 12:48:47 AM not quite true, satoshi first registered bitcoin.org not bitcoin.com as it was already taken, later some bitcoin cash fan bought out the bitcoin.com and since all the bitcoin cash supporters call bitcoin cash the true "bitcoin" this guy falsely sells bitcoin cash as bitcoin Ok this is funny. Something that came from Bitcoin is the "true" Bitcoin? Yeah makes sense. Seems like the logical thought process of a certain group of people i sadly know. That is an interesting fact since i'm sure a lot of people inside the community not really know that, especially since the sites are pretty much alike. That is precisely the way how phishing works, making an alike site and done. Person deceived. Title: Re: Bitcoin history, a fact for each day! Because with such high prices, it has been proven that bitcoin is the most expensive currency in the world. Although the price is slowly decreasing, bitcoin as a digital currency has shown tremendous potential for the future, especially blockchain technology and the implementation of peer to peer transactions. Title: Re: Bitcoin history, a fact for each day! Post by: Bitcoinwalks on April 13, 2019, 07:46:53 AM This thread is helpful to study the history of bitcoin, the only one topic that capture my interest is the pizza man. Lol. Furthere more it is interesting topic to follow, even theres a lot of event missing. Thank for creating this thread, i can now back in time. The time that i was really missed the ride. There's this timeline that was started on http://historyofbitcoin.org/, quite a lot of useful dates to make note of, for me particularly, the dates Bitcoin value was first established on an exchange (October 5 2009) and quote: Quote New Liberty Standard publishes a Bitcoin exchange rate that establishes the value of a Bitcoin at US$1 = 1,309.03 BTC, using an equation that includes the cost of electricity to run a computer that generated Bitcoins. Also when it reached parity with the US dollar, if price tracking is important (it's not, but significant). The timeline ends abruptly in 2014, but it was resurrected here, all the way to March 2017: http://www.therevolutionwillnotbecentralized.com/timeline/ This shows bigger picture: https://timelines.issarice.com/wiki/Timeline_of_Bitcoin And also thanks for this additional info. It can help me to undertand the whole missing things on my research about the history of bitcoin. I just want to ask you about the history of bitcoin. is it true that blackmarket is the reason behind the creation of bitcoin? I heard this news somewhere! Perhaps useful information for fixing for some historical moments of the Bitcoin community. Title: Re: Bitcoin history, a fact for each day!
