Title: What would it take to 'bump' bitcoins to each other?
Post by: paulie_w on March 21, 2011, 08:01:33 PM
technically speaking, what would be all of the steps involved in making a "bump two phones together to initiate a money transfer" platform work with bitcoin?

The recipient would give its public key to the sender, and the sender would create a transaction to that public key and send it to the recipient. Then both broadcast it on the network.

It would be like IP transactions (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/IP_Transactions).

You could just bump them together. http://bu.mp/. The phones themselves would then exchange public keys and the sender would create the bitcoin transaction.

I once saw this thing about this technology that used the human body as a conduit, so you could keep your phone or other pocktable computing device in your pocket and simply shake hands to seal the deal.
