Title: Nowadays, even ordinary laptops can mine bitcoins.
Post by: Tetew50 on July 28, 2018, 05:03:22 AM
Because it requires a lot of power and electrical resources are not small, the process of mining (mining) cryptocurrency is usually done with a special computer. Can be a desktop that is fitted with many graphics cards to server farm.

But lately emerged an alternative form of software that allows users with laptops or regular computers to participate in mining without needing to spend to buy expensive devices.

The Honeyminer startup software runs dynamic mining by combining the user's computer into a pool of thousands of other computers. Each computer contributes power to the cryptocurrency mining process.

The "power" donated comes from the computer GPU. If it is not in use, then the computer GPU will be used to participate in processing the mining process together with GPU kompter-other computers incorporated in the pool Honeyminer.

Thus, while the GPU capability of a computer may be small, the combined power of thousands of GPUs can generate significant resources for this collective mining process.

Nowadays, Bitcoin mining difficulty is very high and as we know that the power generated by GPU is small, mining Bitcoin using a laptop is a bad idea because it will not be profitable for participants

If one laptop with internal GPU mining  is almost not profitable even though it maybe destroy laptop but if you have the mining platform connected from many sources Yes, it's possible to make a profit.

Mining even altcoins using laptops is not advisable since it would severely damage the motherboard of laptop. If it is used for mining bitcoins as op said by combining the computing power of many computers, then the laptop would surely get damaged and so this should not be done.

Laptops can do some things efficiently without bringing your desktop every where you go, it is the same on Mobile Phones now but they can't take loads like a lot of laptops can do.

It can do your office works or your games but I don't think you need to make your Laptop a mining rig. Yes, games and applications might end up your laptop broken but they are the main uses of it not mining.

Nowadays with laptops, the processors are very weak (except for workstation laptops). Exploiting bitcoin at a constant rate will make the laptop faster to resist a scrap machine

not just laptops and computers, even today we can use some smartphones used to mine, I've seen some people using Samsung S5 for mining

because the capacity of the Samsung S5 is very large and supports mining, in addition, we can mine by using ASIC.

From the beginning, mining can be done by anymedia (laptop, PC or even Server) including just by using a laptop. but as we know of course the mining result is much different if we use a large server with high specifications. The more higher and faster of the media specifications we use for mining the more we earn. This is already realized by the mining hunter.

Yes, maybe laptops and even some smartphones have technical preconditions for mining. But what would be the final result, is it's profitable? No, it's not.
Today it's not worth to cope with mining unless you have mining farm. Expenses that you as an individual have would much exceed your earning. So, don't go for such form of mining, it's not worth the costs and efforts.

Even smartphones can be used for extraction purposes. Currently, I have eight androids, and I am using 8 of these phones to exploit ETN. But I do not think that exploiting Bitcoin with a laptop is a good idea

Although it can be mining bitcoin I'm sure you will never get a profit though. I've done that before, and make the laptop that I always use is badly damaged and I will never again do that. Mining bitcoin is very hard to do now using latpop or pc factory settings, you need a pc or laptop assemblies that support for mining.

It's a clever idea actually, kind of like the P2P network that torrents came up with. You don't handle the entire burden by yourself, but contribute to the network. Everyone does their own little part and it all adds up to one. If the network can support the assembly of data in a similar fashion to the way torrent downloading does, the speed can most certainly be fast.

But the cost effectiveness is questionable. Can you actually make enough to keep your laptop running nonstop day and night? How much would you be mining with this process? The same question for smartphones, even if the capabilities exist, are they worth the effort (at this stage)

Laptops can be used with Proof of Stake coins.  :)

But using laptops with Proof of Work coins is not a good idea as they don't distribute heat as well as a desktop ,
so odds are you'll shorten your laptop lifespan more than any PoW coins that you would earn.

Do you have links to support this findings that lap top alone can mine heavy duty transactions? As we all knows that mining will need a super computer and a huge energy source to satisfy our earnings therefore if we will just rely on lap top and cellphone about the mining process then don't expect a big income from these devices.

Yes it is a possible way to obtain a bitcoin but not that effective and beneficial. Let me tell you that it can really harm your ordinary laptops and cost you trouble. I think it is still much better to stick in using bitcoin generating machine so that you can mine bitcoin safely. In that way you can avoid breaking of ordinary laptop and at the same time you can mine effectively.

I see where you are coming from. I see that you're coming from that "combination of small things will make a huge thing" and I totally get that. On the other hand, how is it different from mining using your laptop only and not have some third party software called "Honeyminer" to accumulate their user's computing power. At the end of the day, you're going to be paid for the amount of computing power your computer has contributed to the pool. It makes no sense if it allows you to get other people's contribution since that would mean other people will be able to get yours too. So how is it different? I think the idea is absurd or at least the information handed to us by OP is incomplete. I see that this Honeyminer is just new (yes, I just did some research). I suggest that you guys wait for reviews before you try it out.

Personally though, I would NEVER use it regardless if it was proven that it's paying or that the software has no malware. Why? Because your laptop wasn't setup to mine bitcoins. There's a reason why people use a different GPU for their computer and for mining. It's because mining stresses out your GPU and it shortens its life span. It's partially "okay" to mine bitcoins with your desktop computer because you can easily replace the GPU of it. But the GPU of a laptop? Not really.

Please consider the electricity cost as well. You might invest yourself too much on this not knowing that you're paying more for electricity bills, while damaging your laptop overall, than your earnings from mining bitcoin. With the amount of big-time bitcoin miners, it will require more computing power before you can earn a decent amount of money and your laptop GPU probably isn't enough for that.

This only means crypto world continually improve in order to satisfy the requirements of the users. This is a good news for poor people, actually even a phone can use to mine but it is more slowly than the other gadgets. But it is indeed a great news for the users who can not afford to buy expensive gadgets. A good news that proves how bitcoin can be flexible and can adopt to what people need.

Forget about profit with cloud, browser, CPU or any other mining - this is just for naive users who think that money falls from the sky and they only need to take a basket and collect it. If this is a case all those mining farms with expensive devices would not make any sense.

Laptops, smart phones or maybe even microwave can mine bitcoins, but only thing you will get from that process is broken device and increased electricity bills. Time when BTC mining was profitable on PC is the distant past, this was possible in the beginning when mining difficulty was very low.

Just check this chart and some things should be a bit clearer : https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/bitcoin-difficulty.html

Do not ever try to mine crypto on an expensive laptop if you are not prepared to throw it in the bin after a while. Laptops have low thermal limits because of the tight enclosures they are in and can't dissipate heat very well. You are likely going to kill the GPU very soon and these can't be replaced/repaired if soldered onto the motherboard and the whole thing needs to be scrapped after a melted GPU. If you really want to try your hand at mining crypto at home it's way better to just build a desktop PC and start from there, because it would be cheaper to fix any problems that may arise.

Although ordinary computers can also mine bitcoin, I don't recommend it, because the average computer has very little computing power, so it finds very little bitcoin, and it actually costs a lot to the computer.

A computer unit is different from laptop which is, it is portable and it's circuit is small and mining have to work 24/7 it is not suitable for mining, laptop has a battery  small GPU and small processor that causes heat (even though it has heatsink or fan).Lots of generation of computer/laptop have been developed, processor have been improved but don't try to do it. Even Autocad can ruin your laptop if it's specification of GPU was not suitable for it.

Yeah you can mine with ordinary laptop but not with bitcoin.

When your friend asks you if you are mining, you can finally say yes and but the question is, is it worth it to mine with your laptop? you are just exhausting it.

You can't mine with bitcoin but with worthless altcoins.

if you are rich enough and you want to have an experiment to mine with laptop, good luck.

You could actually mine using your laptop back in 2009-2010/11 but then difficulty levels started raising, and so did the power consumption. Mining bitcoin is almost useless you own a huge fucking rig. A mere software won't make things easier, although there are now cloud based GPUs like GeForce Now, but that is not worth it. And this honeyminer is just like cloud mining ponzi scheme from the looks of it, I wouldn't use it nor would a sane person.

In addition also the profit that you can get in mining is not enough  to pay your electricity expense.

Think of hashing as lottery tickets. The more robust your hardware the more lottery tickets you get.  So you can play the lottery by buying one ticket, but your chances are very small compared with someone who's mine effectively produces hundreds of tickets a day. Bigger mine, greater odds.

Even smartphones or laptops can mine bitcoin or whatever it is.. but the important is I eager to learn more better in mining. Bitcoin mining is a key part of the security of the Bitcoin system. The idea is that Bitcoin miners group a bunch of Bitcoin transactions into a block, then repeatedly perform a cryptographic operation called hashing zillions of times until someone finds a special extremely rare hash value.

Stop spreading rumour! The mining difficulty is so high, that a normal computer won't be able to handle it even after connecting to the biggest pool mining on earth. Also you will end up destroying your computer/laptop in thr process!

The need for specialized mining rigs is unquestionable and then also you will have to join a pool to remain profitable. In a nutshell, solo mining is not at all profitable now. You may try your luck in some shitcoins though!

Truly, with advancement in mining processes, nearly any device that could do calculations can be used for mining. But as many asserted, is it worth it?

There was this one study i came across with wherein they setup a a good configuration laptop with nicehash and let it run 24/7.  The good thing is that it did gained results, it actually mined. Great isn't it?

The sad part? The mining merely resulted in a 9 cents incentive a day.  Take that average for a year and you end up with around $328.50 in a year. I think that is very less for the price of the laptop and consumption of electricity.

Yes you can, but you'll lose a ton of money on electricity and you will also cause severe damage to your laptop.  BTC mining currently is extremely competitive. There are special microchips called ASICs(application-specific-integrated circuits) that are designed to mine bitcoin and nothing else. They are at least 100x better at mining bitcoin than even the best GPUs.

because the capacity of the Samsung S5 is very large and supports mining, in addition, we can mine by using ASIC.
Technology has change faster and eventually even smartphones can be used for mining of some people because they are developed to have a high capacity processors to load up what computer has though it is slower and risky than desktop computers. We can mine and monitor it whenever we are using smartphones. Not only laptops are being upgraded but also smartphones which supports mining.

but as we know of course the mining result is much different if we use a large server with high specifications.

The more higher and faster of the media specifications we use for mining the more we earn. This is already realized by the mining hunter.

Is this bizzaro world? This post has gotten everything wrong.

It used to be that mining bitcoin with ordinary laptops was possible, when the difficulty was low.

The last time mining Bitcoin with laptops was profitable was 2012.

You'd get nothing out of it, you'd overheat your laptop for long periods of time, eventually you might even do damage (by subjecting all the components to high heat).

The only way you'd mine on your laptop would be to connect a small enough miner to it.

Also mining pools are as old as dirt in this space. You don't need any special company or software to do this.

I don't think that is true. Ordinary laptops can't handle mining Bitcoins. Where did you get that information? Do you know what power it must have to mine Bitcoins. Laptop, ordinary laptop can't handle it. I don't recommend it for sure. Be careful what you hear before you ruin your laptop.

It doesn't make sense mining Bitcoin with Ordinary PC. It will just amount to sheer waste of time and resources. Bitcoin mining is way too complex, combining even a thousand PC may not be profitable. I will rather leave mining to those who are professional and with the right equipments. Not trying to damage my PC in the name of mining

I don't think that's possible.. Coz of the low performance could be harm your laptop..So better to make a mining rig instead of  a daily use laptop..But nowadays mining also not that much profitable due to bad market condition..so it's a total waste of time and resources..

so true. not just laptops that can mine bitcoin but cellphones can also mine bitcoin like the Samsung cellphone brand. because now Samsung is willing to accept payment via bitcoin and the cellphone has also been converted into mining equipment
Its just burning your cellphone dude, doing mining must use a computer with high specifications so that the profits and income that you get will be proportional to the risk, if you do mining on a cellphone, you will only destroy your phone without earning that worthed

That is one of the best advancement in Technology being developed. We can now mine on at least every technology that has a processing unit. Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrency is adapting to every technology we have and it is all because of Blockchain Technology. As long as we keep developing Blockchain then we can adapt it to more and more technology and we can create more platforms and use it as technology advances. We just need to learn and self study about these advancing technologies if we really want to use them.

A Teenager who has been pressuring me about learning bitcoin hit my office 3 days ago that he may not need to learn from me anymore that his friend was using a software to mine bitcoin in his laptop. I just told him that his friend's laptop will soon pack up and at the end, he will never dare that in the future. As a novice, I tried using my laptop to mining bitcoin due to some bad counsel from a distant friend. My laptop almost crashed, I had to uninstall all the software he had installed for me.

Cpu, gpu mining bitcoin is somehow an obsolete approach.

I have seen sites that encourage their viewers to mine bitcoin through their site but little that we know that it is possible that they are using our units to mine another low difficulty coin and sell it to BTC and give us share from it.

I would like to say that using  our gpu and cpu to mine bitcoin  had long been ineffective to get rewards. So i guess, OP had been mislead by this kind of advertisement from some sites.

good at the beginning it was very profitable to mine with the gpu of our PC now the degree of difficulty to upload so we must study how much we leave having connected our lapto or any other device that provide a bit for a large community of several computers through these software because I would not know their performance and the electric cost better to use the miners that are designed for more mining power and have their electric fans and their materials to withstand more heat to the equipment and can be left connected all day doing their job and there are many brands dating every day that improve their mining capacity if you can mine from the gpu and graphics cards but it is not highly recommended

Have you considered the hardware temperature? Mining produces a lot of heat and regular laptops aren’t designed to take a lot of heat in a long time. Talking about the design and the use ordinary laptops aren’t designed for looping processes as mining works causes regular laptops are not effective for mining, moreover there are many devices attached to these laptops that don’t provide any advantages for the mining process.

Still depends on the capacity of the unit. Me and my friends do mine on ordinary computers that are used in our school computer laboratory. We have a 3 hour session in that subject and we use that time to secretly mine without the need of paying the bills. That computer is not high end,it was just like used for study purposes.

It is just a waste of time if you mine bitcoin with a laptop. You will end up destroying the laptop and you will waste additional money to get a new one. It will be better if you build a pc purposely for mining bitcoin or other cryptocurrency.

It will be a horror if you mine by every kind of laptop! Day by day technology will be easier than thought, but don't misuse it. Mining is not so easy task, it takes a high volume of electricity, Gopu tools, high graphics, and some other things. But if you are talking about some mining website or apps then you are taken the wrong path. Because you will get nothing by those types of activity.

No, it will kill your laptop, yes you can mine it but laptop was designed for light work only . I suggest you to don't do that. I strongly suggest ypu to by mining tools so you will not destroy your laptop.
Current technology is highly developed even from all fields ranging from the internet, cellphones, PCs, to laptops, we all know bitcoin mining activities require very large specifications because it is very difficult to hack a network, but behind it laptop hardware is getting higher and more for the main capital to mine bitcoin, even though the amount is very minimal but if done continuously it will be more and more.

As Bitcoin mining ages, it becomes more difficult and sophisticated to mine the Bitcoins. Currently, a lot of energy and high level computers with great GPUs are required for mining Bitcoins if you want to yield a quite tangible amount of Bitcoin for some period of time. Ordinary laptops are just used to register some for softwares which mimics the Bitcoin mining.

People can try to mine bitcoin with a laptop if that is what they want, but they are never going to get any positive results out of this, if they are lucky they are just going to waste their time, but as you say if they are not they run the chance of destroying their computers by running them by too long, I do not know why people think like this, no one has been able to earn profits out of bitcoin mining with a laptop for a very long time.

Yes, because it is not good idea for the miners to do that.  The laptop can be damage by overheating, you cannot gain profit but your laptop can be broke and the money that you have cannot buy a new laptop.  That's the logic, the laptop brands can be profitable and not you.

Yes that's true, bitcoin is very easy so anyone can use it. The most important thing in using bitcoin is an internet connection that helps us manage the bitcoin. Bitcoin can also be used anywhere, can be used via cellphone or used via a laptop. So we can all use bitcoin easily. For now the most important thing in bitcoin is a smooth internet connection and an adequate cellphone or laptop to use.

Yes it can mine bitcoin but you should consider the heat and power consumption it took from the laptops and it might damage your laptops in the long run. Laptops are not advisable to do mining because it can heat up the components and in the worst scenario it could blow up your laptops. If you wanna do mining maybe you use recommended rigs to mine bitcoin, less heat and less maintenance than laptops.

I think the type of mining that only uses laptop devices or ordinary computers will not be able to get maximum results. because mining activities must certainly have strong processor power. and laptop is designed only for a job with standard processor power. so if you want to do mining you should buy a device to do mining activities and it looks like you have to spend a lot of money.

Yes, you are right. Bitcoin mining is not so easy as you thinking. For bitcoin mining you need to use high powerful technology. Otherwise there have not so much benfits on mining. Laptop GPU capability is very low. That's it will be wrong decision, if you want to start bitcoin mining with your laptop.

No, it will kill your laptop, yes you can mine it but laptop was designed for light work only . I suggest you to don't do that. I strongly suggest ypu to by mining tools so you will not destroy your laptop.
Definitely true that Laptop is useful for normal work. You can't use it on some hard work like bitcoin mining. It may can damage your Laptop. That's why if you interested on Bitcoin mining, then you can buy some tools for Bitcoin mining.

not just laptops and computers, even today we can use some smartphones used to mine, I've seen some people using Samsung S5 for mining

because the capacity of the Samsung S5 is very large and supports mining, in addition, we can mine by using ASIC.
Yeah, I also heard about it that we can mine with our smart phone. But I didn't try it and I heard from some people that when they start mining Eletroneium Coin on their smart phone, their phone become very slow and sometimes get hang. So I recommend don't use smart phone for mining.

Previously I used laptops for the purpose of exploiting Bitcoin and altcoin. But after I tried Bitcoin exploit for a month and my computer was broken. I think the laptop will never be able to exploit Bitcoin and altcoin

Exactly what I want to say about Bitcoin or altcoin mining on laptop. It may damage your laptop and you faced it very badly. Cause laptop can't take much pressure. That's why while you trying to mining it broken.

Yes- you are correct. The difficulty on bitcoin is too high to mine it on a laptop. You need to use a dedicated ASIC miner - otherwise it is a waste of time.

Yeah, I also heard about it that we can mine with our smart phone. But I didn't try it and I heard from some people that when they start mining Eletroneium Coin on their smart phone, their phone become very slow and sometimes get hang. So I recommend don't use smart phone for mining.

Electroneum is "simulated mining". It doesn't actually mine coins - it just simulates it and you get rewarded from the premine. It is a gimmick. But you do get a reward and yes it can cause your phone to hang or lag.

Some coins like monero are mined via websites using (malware) coinhive.  It uses your CPU cycles while you visit the site as a "donation" to the website owner.

There are still some coins you can mine via CPU like Gapcoin https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/gapcoin/

Everything can become Bitcoin exploiters, Bitcoin is currently the most popular cryptocurrency, so there will be a lot of people using desktops and laptops to exploit Bitcoin. But I think people should not exploit Bitcoin with a laptop

Everything can happen with good efforts, skills and hard work. Even computers or laptop you may actually do the mining, trading or even investments. Everything may happen if you just do your part not just dependin on the hardwares but your mind and thoughts as well works as a software.

Good for you. Don't do it because worst case you'll be breaking your laptop for no reason. The money is not worth your time and trouble. You'll be risking a computer that can be worth $1000 to possibly get $50 in cryptocurrency after months of looking after it. Mining isn't a self sustaining process. You need to be around and monitor everything because if you happen to lose connection the computer will be on and wasting energy for nothing.

Nowadays? (http://renovasi-rumah.net) People were using Intel Pentium 4 for mining! Why? Because the level of difficulty is still appropriate, and now when the price of Bitcoin is too expensive, the level of difficulty is also increasing, as well as the electricity costs. I think many people who choose to go mining have to wait until they have big capital. Don’t let yourself fooled by a pool that promises profit with a regular laptop, if you are smart you should be able to calculate how much you will get and then reduce it with the funds you have spent so far, and you can finally say that you profitable or just promised a sweet promise.

it's true that crypto mining requires very high power, and I think a sophisticated laptop can also be used today.

Lol even the most sophisticated laptop can't met the mining requirements. If this thing can do mining then we shouldn't need to spend thousand dollars for antminer and rigs.

Yeah maybe at least try it out and let's see how many hours it will long. Goodbye lappy.
Sure, our common sense needed here.
