I was reading godlikeproductions in 2011 and there a man from UK posted a thread saying he is selling his house and buying £450,000 worth of bitcoins

After 6 months to 18 months, he posted there, he has earned some $20,000,000 from Bitcoins.   :o

Often I dream, go back in time to invest all the money in bitcoin and sell it when it costs 20k.
Apparently this guy is a psychic or a traveler in time

In 2010, Bitcoin was $100 or $200. Now at $5000 also, Bitcoin is high risk.

I wish I  was mad like this man when I first knew about bitcoin, it could have been a different story for me today, even at the present price bitcoin is still producing millionaires in dollars crypto currency will rule the world of money.

how do you say? luck helps the brave. I would never have the courage to do such a thing (unless I have 4/5 houses). I hope now enjoy life doing what he dreamed when he did that madness

 One has its own story to tell about Bitcoin investment, i heard this story, The time Bitcoin or crypto currency market open its door to the public very few who took it seriously, "He ask his family member for an amount for investment for Bitcoin about two years ago, it was declined since he has a previous failure in investment in other project, yet he was able to invest on the little amount he has during that time, then as days goes by Bitcoin hit the roof, Bang..Bang.. he had a significant profit and now enjoying to have stable financial earnings.", Gain or pain for the risk taker.

Although the thread has no link to confirm the story but that does not say that things like that can't happen or has not been happened. He definitely had a good analysis of the market in that six months for him to have taken such grab on the market. Lucky him, that is how riches come sometimes without much pressure or stress.

On the other hand, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies may have gone out like a fad like what the naysayers have been saying back in 2014 as it was crashing from ATH to $160 (Bitcoin). So, this man must be sweating a lot in 2014 or probably sold some to ease the pain.

Well, that man done a very risky things because it's given the fact that there is no assurance when it comes for making investments in cryptos but he disregarded the risk and conquered all the difficulties and challenges in this system so probably he is a lucky one and maybe a brilliant one. There's a minimal number of people that can risk there own house just to invest in btc because that was really doubtful things to do. Like what mostly here said that invest money that you can afford to loose.

That was too risky. Selling your house to invest the money in bitcoin is not laudable. Where would you live? Did he think about his family at all? Probably, he had more than a house. I do not think I would try such a blunder. He was just lucky.

This looks like a fairytale, and does not even seem real. Anyway if it is real, how will call that? He is so lucky that such a gamble payed off in his favour. I would not go in such risky business. He could have lost too.

Yes that was really risky. Selling a house for bitcoin is not advisable by some expert that was verry risky type of investment and we cannot really assure a return from it specially when it invested in the crypto feild. Crypto is an unstable type of investment so then the earning or maybe the profit is no assurance at all, so then I believe that was too risky.

The man is certainly a great risk taker. I don't think I would have gone to the extent of selling my house in order to invest into bitcoin in 2011. I am sure that so many people will do some astonishing things for bitcoin if they could turn back the hand of the clock. I am happy for him.

I think this proves that some decisions in investing in Bitcoin may be risky but totally worth it, not all people have the guts to risk things that are very important to them. In the crypto world, in order to success, you must risky profit or things. Good luck to this guy! :)

Back then, the exchange rates were like $0.1 per coin. Within 3 years, it increased by 10,000x. But then the Mt Gox scandal happened and the prices tumbled down once again. Anyway, in case the ETF proposal gets approved, then we may find ourselves in five-digit very soon.

Lucky were the ones who believed in Bitcoin/Blockchain in the starting and started mining Bitcoin way back in 2009-2010 and brave were the ones who invested their hard earned money in it because it was not popular, they did not know whether they'll even get their investment amount back, but they invested anyway. So big rewards are for those who think big and take big risks. Fortune favors the bold.

Its shitty situation for sure! but I doubt that its true event. but I do feel sad for those people who get in during bull run and bought ATH. at the same time, I sold at ATH so I am happy for myself (that kinda makes me a hypocrite)

I think it was real good story of man earned some 20,000,000 only from Bitcoin investment. He was then had the courage to do it, when He sold his house for investing Bitcoin. He knew that at the time he bought Bitcoin as his investment , the value Will be  getting higher for a long period of time. As He bought it a lower price  and when the Year came , that all currencies been with great value including Bitcoin He was then lucky  of having them. Selling at peak price as what is happening for these days.

Good for him. But hindsight is 20/20, and though we all wish we could have done something similar, he actually took a big risk and did something most experts would not have recommended. In his case, it turned out well. I believe there is more potential for big gains among those who buy and hold with patience.

Yes, I also saw this. It is just a pity that there are no followup story on what happened with them after that and if they are still living on a campsite. OP's story sounds a bit far fetched, because  there is no evidence to back up his story and it would have been a huge risk back then, because bitcoins was "enemy #1" in those days and nobody in their right mind, would have done that with the lack of regulations.

Well, we can tell that man was crazy for doing but hey as saying goes "no guts, no glory" in investing so must be a risk taker from the beginning. He had a high spirit and truly believes bitcoin just by doing that so congrats to the guy who enjoyed life now more than before and his risked had payed off.

It is possible to earn this amount as profit or even more than this amount of money. You can earn such profit  not only in investing in bitcoin but also in investing in any other promising alternative coin.

if we see the success of the person maybe we all want to turn back the time so we can invest when bitcoin price is so low but if we understand maybe this is the fate of someone to get so many bitcoin and I think now that person has become a miliader .

Wow, this was actually a huge risk that the man took and it paid off. I won't advice such risk for other folks because, what worked for the man might not work for someone else. He was lucky to invest into bitcoins and when the bull market came, it grew his investment.

Good timing, because he bought at a bargain price of bitcoin. But if we do this today, it's a big sacrifice because we can not afford the bitcoin price and it's a big chance to fall. His investment was timely because the price of bitcoin was low.

You can play / trade / invest with btc but it also has a pretty big risk because playing in the world crypto it's not all right maybe you have to be careful we have a market that offers btc sell at a very large price whereas in all market prices btc not so much so we must be careful because it could be a scam and all your money just gone...

Lucky for him but I know for sure I won't ever put all my money in one investment especially crypto when it can be so risky with the uncertainty of the market, but sometimes some people just take a leap of faith- and that's what this guy did.

That is what a risk taker guy can accomplish. Imagine selling your house never knowing what will happen to bitcoin at that time may leads you to being homeless. is this news true? we also have to be smart in choosing news. I doubt this news because logically maybe only some very brave people to sell their assets for something uncertain, given the bitcoin at the time was new born and not yet popular.

That was a very risky investments so far I've ever hear in my entire life, because you might not able to handle the situations if market falls like what's happening right now. If that man used to survive with bitcoin after selling his house, then it's a huge struggles for him. Though he manages to control his fears, but I don't think he's been doing well before that $20m profit was earned. Panic and anxiety attacks might be able to occur depending on how he managed himself.

I think it was a very risky move. I would not risk doing that. I believe in cryptocurrencies, but cryptocurrencies are a long-term investment and this can drag on for several years or longer.

Maybe it is a little bit lucky but it is great. We can be happy for him. He understood the big potential of BTC and played a risky game, and he became a winner in it.

If it was not like that, then it just a fabricated story without some solid proof. If it was true, then maybe he has a crystal ball.  ::)

The possibility to have $20,000,000 is very possible because bitcoin was low then. But taking such risk now is very difficult for some people. When you are having extra income from somewhere is not too difficult to do. But those not having such opportunity should not think of doing such a risk. The future is hard to predict. But not withstanding everything will be fine soon. We see recently bitcoin jump from $6000 to $8300 but again has come down to $7300 at of when I check last. I really appreciate that the man has great courage in the bitcoin business. He was able to risk his home only for the bitcoin business. Praise God, the person managed to get a very multiplier profit from bitcoin. If the person fails then the person will be very disadvantaged and poor. Im not that person that is really risk taker because i do tend to withdraw later on my investment on a thing also im not good in holding coins because i do keep selling it though it havent reach its peak. Just for last year I have friends of mine who bought Bitcoin for $14,000.00 who would have thought that it will sky rocket @ $19,978.60. Had they decided to sell it @ even $18,000.00 that's a whopping $4,000.00 per Bitcoin. But now at it's current price of $7,438.30 they have decided to take the risk now need to bear with it a little longer.

I think selling your house to invest in cryptocurrency is so crazy eventhough it has a higher possibility to gain more or get million dollars. But for me if you would like to invest in cryptocurrency maybe you should try other ways to earn in investing not to sacrifice your greatest primary needs such as your home.

sometimes the name of regret does come later, but if we continue to regret what has happened is wrong, we follow what they have done that has been successful as long as there is still a chance why we did not and hope that what happened to them can happen to us, because the wrong thing is just silent and just talking.

If he really did that it means he gambled with crazy high stakes. What I don't understand is why he said that he was selling his home for british pounds and then gave the profit in dollars. Any normal person would turn the money immediately to USD being scared of the market crashing but he decided to hold and sell with a huge profit. It's like going to a casino and putting 100k on black right away. He got lucky, things like that happen.
