Didn't catch the spike, but considering this is happening at the exact same time as DDoS attacks on the top pools -- well, I had a coin or two remaining.  Whomever was trying to manipulate the price up now has them, congratulations.

Don't you mean, manipulate the price down?

The price moved up $.50 in one sale. Then there were 3 or 4 successive pushes to $4.4, all in about 1 minute.

I caught the spike, but I had just <5 mins earlier moved my sell order from $4.42 to $4.25 (which I rarely do), so I got shafted a little.
But hey, a little profit is better than a little loss!

Usually once it raises a mere 20 cents, someone dumps all their bitcoins going "Well at least I made a small profit" and this makes the price crash.  Hopefully it won't happen this time.

We don't need it except for to talk about how dumb it is.  Hold your BTC til after the holiday then see where it's at.

Mt. Gox is at $4.07 and Tradehill is at $3.95. Usually, when there's a spread like that, an arbitrage 'bot buys on one exchange and sells on the other. This keeps the exchanges in sync.

When that doesn't happen, it's because someone has cash trapped in the wrong exchange. I suspect that one or more of the trading 'bots ran out of money, and as a result, volatility went up.  With the better funded 'bots off line, there are more spikes. Humans react too slowly to damp them.

No big deal. It's not a rally.
