Title: Hard times
Post by: stulloyd79 on August 02, 2018, 01:16:43 PM
Hi all.......need a bit of advice really.

I invested quite a bit of money in a number of ICOs back in December when bitcoin was pretty high and I initially made quite a bit of money but since the bear market started and continued I'm down a few thousand.

I can't bring my self to sell any of my coins due to an attachment I have with them. So it looks like I'm.going to be holding a bit longer.

Any advice on any coins that might be worth day trading to recoup a bit of money back as every coo  I choose to invest in seems only to go one way..

Many thanks

Invest at Bitcoin is high !!!
and now it has dropped a bit !!!
Tip: You keep track of the situation, no matter how much it should worry about it ... until some time Bitcoin will return strongly and then you will certainly earn a decent amount of investment. this !!!

The advice that you give here can lose their value in five minutes, as every minute plays a role on the market. I do not advise you to follow trade tips if it's been a while since you read them

This is a pretty hard situation you are in. But I hope the money you invested are money you can afford to lose. We can't really say how the market will go but I am pretty sure the cryptomarket has it's magic and the BULL will soon pave it's way!
I also hope you have learned your lesson, to always cut LOSS :) unless you are planning to hold for a very long time. Because BTC and CRYPTO hype is over and that unusual growth we just witnessed might be a thing of the past and we might never see it again.
But what I'm pretty sure is, Bitcoin will break it's ALL TIME HIGH in the future. That is one thing for sure because fiat money has been evolving since mankind started trading. Cryptocurrency is the next level of evolution fiat will be evolving into.

First, never get too attached to any currency or project. Profit is your ultimate goal.
The market is down now, as most are skeptical about announcements regarding Bitcoin ETF.
If the news is a possitive one, it would have a possitive effect on the market.
Day/arbitrage trading is also a way to make profits. You'd need to educate yourself before venturing in.

until now the coin has continued to fall, even until the end of the month it will continue to decline, whether at the end of the year the market will rise again

Now you have nothing to do but wait for growth. Not only did you all go away, everything is so. Some people have more, some have less. We are waiting for the good news and the growth of BTC or go out now and forget about the crypto world

I feel your pains because I am also in your shoes. All my coins have gone down in price and diminishing at a high rate. You are not the only one affected. The price will eventually grow and you will make good money. While trading would mean a better option, it is important to know it very well so that it won't look as if one has moved from fry pan to fire.

Since you have been holding your coins for quite sometimes now, i think that you should wait a little bit more for we are expecting the market to stabilize and rise when december is coming. Though this year might be different, i still dont advise you to do day trading if you are not aware with the ups and downs of crypto. Just hold and earn the rewards in the end.

Evaluate each cryptocurrency methodically. Such an assessment of investments will give you the opportunity to compare the cryptocurrencies among themselves, to consider different scenarios for the development of events on the market and to sleep peacefully, knowing that your investment decisions have a specific basis. An ideal evaluation method does not exist. The fact that it occupies me is an opportunity to invest in new projects. This is something that can really please us at the stage of the market fall. Therefore, look for projects, invest and continue to enjoy good profits.

Everyone who made investment in December and January are in the same position with you. Don't feel alone buddy, just hodl your coins and wait for the market to be bullish again.

That's what holders and traders lives, if the market goes down you're down by thousands and whales are down by millions. If you are looking for a day trading coin, try ETH.
There are many decentralized exchanges that has main crypto of ETH.
I do not advise you to go trading since you are already down in few thousands. Hold for longer time, just secure your passwords and "forget" them because price is yet to recover for gains.
If he wants to day trade while he's on loss it's okay so he can do something while waiting for his coins to be up.

I agree completely.  An early mistake I (and I'm sure many others) have made is to add emotion to the equation.  Sure, invest in like 1 or 2 projects you are passionate about and believe in no matter the price, but for any you aren't completely ride or die for, set an acceptable loss percentage and move on.

I know what you feel right now, if you start investing in December and the price of coin at that time is quite high and see price growth so far has been very sharp decline.
not only you are experiencing difficult times for now, but almost all traders also experience this. What you need to do for now is to be patient for longer, so that all can be stabilized and if you are still trying to get out of the situation like this you should not be afraid to step forward.
Come back to trading if you still have savings, to recover the losses that you experience, because this is the best time to invest when the price of coins is very low.

Don't think that you can earn money by trading follow other people suggestions or signals. If you think you can earn money by that way so I think nobody in here lost their money in trading anymore. LOL.

It's hard to explain the feelings of been through such a situation. A lot of people have suffered and are still suffering what the bear market has done to them.
Coming back to trading is a good decision but usually people don't come to trade again once when they are defeated in trade. Also it is not easy to lose your hard earned money and then again come to the market to take the risk. People are mostly risk averse, they avoid to take risk for the next time, but those  who are risk takers are happy from crypto industry.

It is sad for that. I think, we are in a difficult period of the market. The divergence and confusion of investors' perceptions and their beliefs are decreasing. The market is overcast from dark clouds. There are not many options for the current trend. ETF is likely to be the next move.

You can neverreally make much money in bear market because ypu can really tell when and which coins is going to raise the price, or even if it rised up the price it would not be that much or even it fall down after few days or. The best way to do is buy another alts since it bear market and wait for the bull market comes then sell all your tokens to gain profits. Roll your money and don't just stuck it where t is, never make an attachement into since you are in the business where all you want to gain and not to make any losses.

We had the same scenario but I should ride with the flow of the market. My ultimate goal is to increase my coins even the value is at lower than my buying price. This case I gamble to sell my coins before it reach the bottom and buy back at the much lower price to increase my coins. Once you increase your coins you had a higher chance that you will get much profits once the price will return to all time high. Although it's too risky but it's better than letting your coins sleep while at the bear market.

Trying to up and daytrade to recoup a loss without any real knowledge of the market seems like a bad idea.  Not to say that it cannot be done but don't go on tilt and start making wild plays.  You have endured the worst of it.  Just a little longer.  Don't be the guy who sold the day before the rally to 50k Bitcoin and a 3 trillion dollar market cap.

Looks like to the truth. But this is hard situation anyway. This is not safety to invest to one or two coins. Maybe if it was BTC and ETH that would be not so hard situation, but now he is feeling not so well, as it was in December I guess and in this way education this is the key. Everyone should learn, not just trading coins, but learn more about technology and their influence to the economy. Don't focus on price, if it's possible. Hope it was your free money.

do not stop and do not withdraw your funds what you have invested. I think it's the best choice you choose if you buy bitcoin. if you do not believe, go and leave all information about the price of coins in the market, so you are not disappointed with the difficult times like now. you check again about 3-5 years you will get extraordinary wealth at that time

I can't bring my self to sell any of my coins due to an attachment I have with them. So it looks like I'm.going to be holding a bit longer.
So you are emotionally attach with your coins which is the reason why you weren't able to sell them for the past seven months then. It seems that the market is coming back so you might as well buy more if you have the funds so that you can average down or you can just sell it and then buy back lower. The mistake you had is that you didn't establish a stop loss which would have prevented a further downfall to the value of your coins.

Any advice on any coins that might be worth day trading to recoup a bit of money back as every coo  I choose to invest in seems only to go one way..

Maybe you can consider sticking to trade those coins that are in the top since they seem to coincide with what bitcoin is doing so you know what will be the reaction of those coins when bitcoin goes up or down. You can also choose to trade those coins that has an upcoming news because those coins most likely will get the attention of traders or investors since news is a big factor in price especially if it's a significant one.

Maybe, he does not want to sell when prices are falling. So he kept them for 7 months. He said prices would increase. But the market in the past seven months has fallen continuously as his assets evaporate. Now is the hardest time for him to sell to suffer losses or keep them until the price he desires .. I hope he makes the right decision. In 5 months, btc is expected to grow at the end of 2018 as 2017 when btc reaches 20k $ / 1btc.

Unfortunately, in the current trend, it is hard to wait more than the patience to keep them.
- Psychological panic, negative perception and backwardness are pushing the market closer to control.
- try a commercial day experience with IOTA or DCC. They have sufficient and stable oscillation levels for you to make a good living.

I will advise you to sell half of your coins when the market goes up again and the prices at which you bought will grow 2 times. Thus, you will return the money you have invested and will manage only profit. And remember that there is no eternal growth, it is always followed by a fall.

That's why crypto experts advice us to have a patience before entering crypto industry because of those hard times that we may encounter that can lose our temper.

Now a lot of coins have subsided since January 2018. And many were in the same situation as you. If the projects you have invested in. continue to develop, you should save your savings there, if the project is in place, better deduce what's left and go to other, more promising coins.

For me, ICO investments are very risky. In my way of thinking, you should wait the ending of this bear season to see if you can have profit or not. I hope the bull season can come in a very close time and everybody can make good profit.

You are not the only one who do have these problem but on all investors in this market do being affected by this bear trend which most people hold up coins that have been purchased on ICO wayback is now on negatives and you don't have any choice but to hold it up or rather cut-loss but I would suggest that you should resist the temptation of selling cheap because when a bull run market starts then there would still a tendency or chance for you to have break even or profited.

2018 is looking to be not so encouraging for crypto market. It is going one step up snd two step down. It would s better to do some research before investing in new ICOs. I would suggest limiting investment to top coins only snd diversify portfolio.

One thing to keep in mind is that ICOs are not for long-term investment. So investing in Token ICOs then hold is a completely false thing as you will surely lose money in the future. If the investment is long-term, invest in BTC and ETH only!  ;D

The market seems fluctuating even when the entire cryptocurrency market is surrounded by good news. If there is everything negative, then one can accept the ongoing price fall. Right now we're in need of mass adoption as well support from large scale firms taking the price go higher as the past. August month provides good growth which has happened almost every year.

Nano, lisk, Zilliqa is just perfect coins for day trading and profit making, which will slightly reduce losses and will enable to invest in top coins. I do not see any other strategy in this market.

Many thanks
op, you really need patience as if you view the historical data you will understand that bitcoin and some altcoins has been going up and down and you need to sell when the market is up.  Now that the market is down you only needs to be patience and wait until the price recover and go above were you buy.
In days trading you can make good profits just that it is too risky for me and you need sounds knowledge on how it works.

I don't think anybody can give you specific advice as to what to do with your money. In the end, each person has to take responsibilities for their own investments. You talk about an attachment you have to your coins. This sounds like emotion. You should work to remove emotion from your trading. Set specific rules for yourself, so you know what you will do when something happens. Make some if-then rules for yourself. For example, "if this coin drop by this much, I'll trade it for another". There's no point in keeping coins that constantly depreciate in value, for example.

Now, market is very bad and look like market will be worse and worse. We have to keep hold our coins nothing else. We should wait the rising after this waiting like 5-6 months ı guess we will earn a lot of money. If you will be patient you will be the winners. Market will give money to you if you hold your coins.

That's the real scenario of those investors who buy bitcoin at the peak price...you should cut your losses by selling your bitcoin and buyback once it goes dip. Yeah investing in cheap altcoins will be a good option but be careful in choosing, some of them are only have hype but no product. Research first before investing.

first, remember to invest the amount you are not afraid to lose!!! In this market growth is not expected. Study carefully the projects you have invested in. If you do not see the potential and do not believe in the project, then sell tokens.

Don't worry. Keep on waiting because the year hasn't ended yet. I am pretty sure bitcoin will make a comeback in the next few months. And if not, I think it will go up again anytime soon. Just don't lose hope and just keep on hodling your coins. You haven't took the lost unless you dump the things you have here so don't give up and just find other things you can do while the market is down.

better you trade your coins,, sell it when the price in the TOP, then buyback when the price in the bottom
so, in this red market you still make a profit.

The market is not getting worse, just so happen that we are experiencing this correction because of some profit takers after a big pump, let’s wait for the coming months and we will see great trend again.

One thing is certain in this market: there are ups and downs. So definitely, alts will crash.
But the coupling with BTC is what kills it the most. But this will definitely change. We are already seeing this somewhat with ETH: when you look at coin charts with ETH pairings they show less coupling with BTC.
We still have a long way to go, however. But one thing that you can do is invest with coins that show promise in utility, and not just profit.. like Eterbase. With that assurance, you can weather the storms with much more comfort.

Bear with the dump market now with in some days you may find the price spike up again. Instant profit as expected it will not be possible with the trading will not work. Short profit may be easy to earn with it.

Some of the ICO's will disappear during this bear market trend due to its low volume and the fact that the coin is worthless to sustain its position is the proof, some of them will regain its price to its former ICO amount, I hope you got those good coins that can sustain or survive this negative trend, if you know they are genuine to deliver and redeem their project then take this advantage to accumulate more tokens while it is cheap you may not be going to see this price on the future.

You could do 2 things now: 1. Hold in very long term, I'm not able to tell you how long, because noone knows the situation in few months. 2. You could buy some more Bitcoin to be sure that you are not in loss when Bitcoin will go up only by a little bit, and that's very certain it'll go up.

As far as I understood from the question, you participated in several ICO in December and have already recovered some of your money. Now you just want to earn more?
Now the market is in a difficult situation. And if you do'nt have the experience of daily trading, then you will simply lose all your money. The best option for you will be to invest in bitcoin and ether. After some time they will definitely grow. About the other coins I can't say anything definite. Most likely you are not a very experienced trader, so it will be difficult for you to choose other coins for investment and properly dispose of them. So just buy bitcoin and ether.

Crypto currencies investment is really risky because of the prices are really unpredictable therefore if we join this investment then there should be no regretting in the end specially in time like this which is the market is in difficult so better we only choose the coins that are already proven their worth like ETH, XRP and EOS then stay away from crap coins to avoid future losses of your investments.

I think there are many who are in a situation like yours, it is very tiring, we endure a situation that forces us to survive like this, the market is full of manipulation, very difficult to guess, very difficult to observe and research, I think surviving is the most effective way to face a situation like this.

Many ico have the potential for success. all can be analyzed and also examined. we can use it as an example of a rating site to be able to analyze and make us sure whether the ico has the potential to succeed or not. because with this, we understand ico and the concept.

Its hard to give a good advice right now. Because the market is truly struggling. And many cryptos had the hard times recovering. I think you just wait a little bit more.

Indeed, at that time the last month of December was bitcoin really soaring and you must be able to read charts and techniques in market development. You can still be patient for more profit. Continue to monitor the market charts to make decisions wisely.

Well hard times often produce better people so you'd likely learn a lot and be a better trader or investor if you don't budge in times like these. Weaklings crumble under hard times. Strong hands take advantage.

As for your case, it's too late to advise. And for the future: before investing, it is useful to make a plan of your behavior for all cases that you can foresee. It will perfectly help to avoid a hard time.

Although this is a very hard time for crypto and if you want to invest in any coin I will suggest you do a very good research about the altcoin and you will be able to find the potential one. You can buy coin and try day trading with it. If you have good understanding of it, you will make profit.

Why not  invest in diversified way of portfolio? It may sound a very risky than having just a pair or a couple of cryptocurrencies in their digital currency wallet. The more its market value plunges down, the more anxious you will become and will lose hope and forget that bitcoin will always come back.

Yes, it is really a difficult time recently. The ico I bought has also fallen a lot, i figured that the current price is only 10% of the cost price. I have no suggestion, but just one, that is holding. Dont lose your belief of your coins.

the most important thing in such a situation is not to panic but just keep waiting and only then you can get a good profit!

What we are experiencing is a test of endurance in crypto market. The manipulators are making you feel this way that might result to panic selling. Your loss will become their gain if you will let your emotions affect your strategy. My advice is to learn trading, there are free trials out there in the web, you can also read books about technical analysis. Try it for at least 30-60 days and evaluate yourself before doing actual trade.

We are already on point to analyze whether we can manage to accept the cons of being in cryptocurrency, we can say that its not always a bright day we can experience dark sometimes and what we need to seek is how to survive or run from it.

Now, market may be very awful and appear like market can be worse and worse. We ought to keep keep our cash nothing else. We need to wait the growing after this ready like five-6 months ı guess we will earn lots of money. If you'll be affected person you may be the winners. market will deliver money to you if you maintain your coins.

Many thanks

Advice you one breath. if you have invested in altcoins, then you can only wait. I do not know who recommended you to put all the money only in altcoins, but you did wrong. I understand that you've learned a great lesson, but always try to spread your money in different places.

Not only you are experiencing a difficult period, but all crypto traders may feel the darkness of the crypto currency trading price continues to decline continuously. How do we deal with this? Only one word is, remain patient and confident, that the storm will soon pass

There are so many crypto investors around having the same story like you. It's inevitable and it's normal because nobody really knows how bitcoin and alt coin behaves in the next couple of days or months. Just hold whatever cryptos you have in your wallet man. I believe that everything's going to be alright because i am still optimistic of bitcoin reaching another new all time high.

there are so many people in same situation with you. this bear trend period is really very long and nobody knows how long it will take. all i can advise is hold as long as you can. because it will end sooner or later.
Definitely experience matters. That is the reason why old players give better performance in the field than the new ones because they have knowledge about those parts that a common man or a newbie can’t. Survival techniques can only be learnt by surviving which means spending time in a particular profession. For being patient, one needs to have trust first.

I have someone i know who invested in ICO's way back december to february too, most of the coins are in 80-90% correction.
If you bought a great coin with potential, you should double down or average down.

A lot of investors who invested last December are frustrated with their situation but then when you have a chance to buy more now to average down then it would be a good chance to accumulate. You can also think of trading and earning a little because it would be accumulated anyway. If you lose, then take it as a lesson and think of a more effective strategy to profit from the market. All of us will start from scratch and only those who would be able to conquer their fears and move on would be successful eventually.

Yes, just hold it for the time comes that market will go back and pump then waiting long is paid off. If you are not in financial problem and you can afford to buy some coins while market is in dump then grab the opportunity. For it will gain profit soon for its the worth the wait!

That's right and I think it's true that the market is now starting to have a hard time pumping prices. so it's better to respond to the market right now enough we are patient until the price stabilizes

in any case, we do not lose anything, Because if you sell today, it's a complete disaster for us. Well, if we wait, the profit for us will be significant.

It would be wonderful if you could clarify which coins do you have and in which ICOs you invested money. Coz it’s impossible to suggest anything without the info about your portfolio. I mean, some projects have strong potential and they may rise even after significant falls. Others are trash and you should get rid of them ASAP. Overall, I’d advise you to keep your crypto and wait for better times because you already missed the moment. Now just watch for prices, read news and try to catch new growth. Remember the main rule: you lost nothing, until you sold your coins.
