Title: [Exchange] Coin-Swap.net | A very different exchange
Post by: masterkiller on February 21, 2014, 09:30:29 PM
Don't want to deposit all your coins into an exchange to buy and sell?
https://coin-swap.net/assets/img/eimage.jpg
Coin-Swap.net (https://coin-swap.net)
Coin-Swap allows you to exchange coins without an account of any kind, safely.
Over 1,080 coin pairings!

How does it work?
One person starts by creating a trade and setting up the trade conditions. You select what coin you are selling along with a price, much like you would at any other exchange. Once the trade is setup you deposit those coins to a unique deposit address created for that trade. The trade is posted in the market where anyone can browse and accept the trade. You are also provided with a public link to your trade that you can post anywhere you like. Here is an example: https://coin-swap.net/trade/publickey/zJQsLGUS

You can post this link here on Bitcointalk, reddit, twitter, irc channel, wherever you like! Anyone that goes to the trade can accept the trade if they like the conditions. Once someone accepts the trade, no one else can accept the trade. The person that accepted the trade is given a deposit address to send their coins. Once both deposits have been confirmed, the trade is executed and both parties receive their coins in THEIR wallets!

What is the best feature of Coin-Swap?
It is EASY and very friendly to new traders. You also don't have to deposit hundreds or thousands of dollars of coins into an exchange and hope they keep it safe. It is also very mobile friendly. Trade right out of your device's wallet program!

I don't have to deposit and keep my coins in an exchange wallet?
No way! Keep your coins on your device in your wallet! You only send in the amount of coins to complete the trade.

Is it an an exchange?
Yes. Coin-Swap has THE MOST market pairings of any exchange with over 1,080 pairings! You want to trade Vertcoin for Potcoin? You can! You want to trade Mintcoin for Reddcoin? You can! You can trade any coin for any other coin on the site.

Is it an escrow?
Yes. Do you have a pre-arranged trade but are stuck with "you send first" scenario? Coin-Swap can also act as an escrow service for private trades. Simply select the trade as Private when you set it up and provide the other person with a link provided after the trade is completed. They click on the link and complete the trade. It's that simple!

What are people saying about Coin-Swap?
Quote
Your site rocks, just traded some leftover coins I had on a mobile phone for MINTcoins with some stranger...  this rocks!

greetings from Belgium
Manu

Hello there, my name is Craig, and I've just been checking out your site.

Being totally blind I use a screen reader on my computer, which reads everything out to me. out of all the exchanges, your site seems by far the most accessible, and uncluttered!

A word from the developer
Hello, my name is Ian. I got the idea of Coin-Swap the day after I started mining DOGE, which was DOGE day 1. For those that remember, people were trying to trade DOGE through a Google docs spreadsheet maintained by a single person (you were a hero). For the next 6 1/2 weeks I worked to put together Coin-Swap. I learned a tremendous amount and pre-launching the site on January 28 was a reward in itself. Since then we have been in alpha testing and have had tremendous support from the community and a great deal of feedback. I'm sure many of you will recognize some of the features that have been added because many were your ideas! What we have now is a very unique type of exchange that is social and easy to use. If you are interested, take a look and if you have any suggestions, feature requests or even criticism I would love to hear it. Please email me at the email address listed at the site.

Definitely recommend using this service!

So easy to setup a trade! I am a complete noob and just really don't understand much of this trading stuff, but this site made it very easy for me. A trained monkey could do it. Hell, I did and my wife would consider me a trained monkey! Try it, you'll be glad you did! I posted this same thing on Reddit to get the word out. I love simple.

When I got in contact with this site, I had a small error with a purchase (I had omitted to include enough btc for the transfer fee, foolishly) I received immediate feedback, the situation was instantly resolved and upon discussion with Ian, I was able to communicate that I was also interested in trading benjamins on his site. After a brief discourse on allaboutthebenjamins thread I checked my email and he was already working on listing the coin THE SAME DAY.  I have done trades for 42, 21, benjamins and bitcoin on this site all executed flawlessly (excepting the first trade which was an error on my part)  I highly recommend this site and would like to see the volume increase, it is a great format and you can sell or buy coins using forums/chats/emails/facebook etc, with no need to register. This site is not just good competition for existing exchanges, it offers a freedom in trades that is unique and of value. Imho.     +1

Coin Swap works great if you have agreed to trade with someone and need an escrow service.

It also works with a ton of pairs, it doesn't have to be just btc.

For example, you can agree with someone on the forum to trade ReddCoin for BeeCoin and work out the deal on CoinSwap without having to worry about converting to btc and do it safely in a neutral environment.

The customer service response is quick too!

I think that coin-swap is smart in the way it tackles many of our concerns as users - keeping BTC/coins at an exchange and hope they don't get hacked. you don't keep anything at the site - just complete your desired trade and keep it moving. no registration. no email address getting leaked, or passwords getting exposed and re-used to steal your email/coins.

It's fast, the guys behind the site are great support. I had an issue where I setup a trade and sent my coins to the trade wallet but while the coins are getting confirmed I accidentally canceled the trade. I thought all the coins were lost. A quick email later and I had my coins back in my wallet. Thanks guys!

So, to conclude, coin-swap is going places. and I'm glad we have FOX up on there. Happy swapping! :)

It's developer is very attentive to questions and provides fast and easy support, but i have been unable to make a trade at this site yet.
I don't know why nor the developer, when i try, i get an error message all the time "THE TX AMNT MUST BE A NUMBER" and "THE RCV AMOUNT MUST BE A NUMBER"

I have had mixed results with coin-swap. On multiple occasions orders have been canceled by the other party (seller) after I had already confirmed the transaction and sent relative payment.  Moreover, I have had issues with losing coins coming out of coin-swap or 'kicking-back' after a failed transaction. On the later issue I do not know if this is the fault of coin-swap or the wallet client that I was using at the time, which I have since ceased using-- I should say though that this is the only time I have ever lost crypto in cyberspace. A third, is that in trying to scoop up coins that were obviously mispriced by the seller, as they were incredibly inexpensive compared to the trade value on other exchanges, they were held by 'coin-ex' and not cleared-- when I inquired I was told that the order was obviously in error and that they had canceled it. Some might like this feature, and it is a representation that they are trying to steward honest 'handshake-cointrades', but it kinda grinds my gears nonetheless. My general take away is that I don't hate coin-swap, nor do I think they are fraudsters. The site clearly fills a much needed niche within the crypto-world, and I will surely continue to use coin-swap infrequently as their is no operable substitute.  Anytime I have emailed them they are quick to respond and eager to help-- surely the biggest positive around.

I had not considered that, it is essential for altcoins to survive that they not be exclusively tacked to btc or ltc prices. As they are traded among each other, many more markets will start to emerge and be strengthened without forcing prices to reflect bitcoins market cap or relative value vs fiat currency.

Should become a standard in the crypto community. Site works well, the fees are small and it  feels safer than using any exchange since you can keep your coins safe in your wallet. 10/10

Definitely recommended, and it's great to have the option to set a price away from the margins, and still have it sometimes get a bite from an investor!

Exchange not trusted, 14.08.2014 i sent 0.2BTC to add tittiecoin TTC to exchange in 24-48h and they still did not added, even TTC was in their ready to add coin,

evidence of payment:

https://blockchain.info/tx/4743f2e478762c456cb420c5a5a572635dd6e70433fb51f5fab71fa0bc42a462

no answer for email or no payment back 0.2BTC, i call it stealing

maybe here other will see how they care, but if they do what they promised and were paid for i will delete it and will think it was hard misunderstanding

I don't trust this site and its order pricing. They seem to know how far to go on the bid side. Only to robot's orders but not yours. They will drop prices when your coins are listed for sale.

There is nothing legit here, and no support, worst exchange ever >:(

We absolutely have support and a very active community. Please join us on Freenode IRC https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#coin-swap (https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/#coin-swap)

Agree... this exchange is crazy and has left all customers at the dark for too long

They do have "very active" IRC but all are robots and no human there. And honestly where is lan? Does he reply to emails anymore?  ???

As an exchange, you seriously need someone replying all emails everyday instead of ignoring most of them

Up until recently Ian has been running this exchange all on his own. I know at one point he had some trouble with his support email. That is probably why you never got a reply from him. Now there are a few of us that are able to help with support. Our IRC channel does have vote bots that allow for users to vote for a coin they would like to see added to the exchange as well as vote for a Coin of the Day (0 buy fees for that coin's market). Those are likely the bots you are seeing, but we are absolutely active in the channel and are offering support. If you change your mind I'm happy to still help out. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

RD965,

You are absolutely correct, we dropped the ball on this request. If you would give us one more opportunity to correct your problem, even if it is simply to withdrawal immediately and walk away, I would be more than happy to assist you. Please email me at my personal email which can be found at our about page (not posting here because bots). https://coin-swap.net/about

i believe more than 70% of mined XPY are with them and a good number of BTC. Estimated value to be USD250k to USD500k. So if they do run away indeed it is a good payday.

I just notice the message was not for coin-swap but for others sites.. now I am also starting to get worried

Currency with 100% premine, trying to cheat volumes.
I do not know why coin-swap takes a frank scam?
100% - this is not a coin, it's homemade stock. Why they traded with honest coin? I do not know.

Again, I replied to you. I'm trying to help here, I really am. The screenshots of your VMC wallet showed 0 confirms, which means that the blockchain hasn't even seen your transactions.

You provided me with a username, but I need your email address used at coin-swap.net in order to access your account and look at transactions. Please feel free to reply to my email and we'll get this sorted out.

There is nothing stolen and nothing lied about. If there are bots "playing games" around your prices they are owned by outside traders, which is normal at any exchange.

You guys are running a crooked exchange. I just done a test... I recorded it on camera and will make a video on youtube shortly. There was this coin that sat at .00000024 40k coins for 14 days. A few hrs ago I checked it nothing had changed. So I sent a total 50k of that coin to the site. While waiting for the pending confirmation. The bid of that coin went from 40k to 25k and when I was confirmed it went to 1.2k

PEOPLE REMOVE YOUR COINS FROM THIS SITE AND TRADE THEM ELSEWHERE. THIS SITE IS CROOKED.

So I did a test with KING coin on your site. Placing a bid above the highest bid. A few seconds later my bid was topped. I just kept doing it to see if it would keep happening. Sure enough it did...

THIS SITE IS A SCAM AVOID AND STAY AWAY!!!!

Yes, verified by several sources. Josh bought it, no need to wonder they are nearly a XPY-only exchange. This guarantees GAW at least one exchange that always provides a Paycoins market.

Dear Fellow Industry Leaders,

Many of you charge your customers needless fees.

Bottom line, you need better models.

You need to innovate and figure out how to add real value, not just how to take advantage of the fact that "no one else" is doing what you're doing.

So I am going to help you.........We will continue buying companies in every sector of this industry.

Once I have acquired the company, I will make their service free to use.

That's it.

Think of how hard it's going to be to compete with free.

It's time to start innovating. I have been at this for a while.

Personally, I liked coin-swap before.
But since they were bought by GAW and mr.Garza I don't want to touch them even with the stick any more.
Josh Garza has the power to turn everything he touch into shit  :P

Just my opinion ...

i have been having the exact same problem for six days now , and dont know what to do. ive sent e mail and been on irc channel to no avail. any suggestions?  :-\ :( im a newby and just getting started , now i dont know if i can even withdraw the rest of my little stuff from the site
and not lose it or what.

Email support and contact the IRC chat and see if they are still working on it...don't give up.

The IRC topic states:  "If anyone is getting a transaction ID of 0 when attempting withdraws please send a PM to coinswap-Jared. Make sure you include your user email address and the coin you are trying to withdraw. You might not get an immediate response from him, but he will submit a ticket for your issue."

Coin-swap closing down. Disappointing, have been using it since last summer with not really any complaints to speak of. But since GAW took it over volume seems to have pretty much dried up and with Paycoin in the dumps and no fees there´s probably no point in keeping it going. Thanks for everything and good luck, g

I read somewhere that Ian and his team in Asia are developing another exchange.
Poor Ian and others have caught so much crap after sales to GAW. I just hope guys got a sweet deal out of it (and didn't end up accepting payment in Paycoin :P )

As for some other acquisitions by GAW, this is also interesting news:

Gentlemen, where is my money?

We are trying to bring Bitcoin and get zero! txid = 0!

If you do not return our money, you will be fraudsters! (as the creator of the exchange, who had been silent for two months for the sale and "GAW")

You should contact them via email and IRC.  You must make some effort to get it fixed yourself by contacting them.

Hi people, about coinswap exchange, iv'e tried to get my few coins from them since feb 22 with no resolution  to this day. I have sent them several e-mails to support, have been to the irc support channel numerous times and even talked there to some of the support people who stated that they were working on the problem and would get it fixed, but i still hav'nt gotten my coins. I am going to send them another e-mail today, but it seems pointless. I dont want to believe that they would wantonly take peoples coins and money and keep them for themselves, but its begining to appear that way. I hope i can get my coins back, but if not then i will have taken a lesson from this experience. I hope the rest of you have better luck getting your coins than i have so far.

I got everything no problems. Except left some shitcoin dust not worth transferring. No complaints here.

Good luck, g

I have received all except Monero (XMR) and Boolberry (BBR). Have sent both currencies with payment id the same day when I have withdraw all other currencies. Also, tried to reach them via support and chat, but there were no reply. The same thing was with depositing Moneros to this exchange, they arrived few days after, but haven't received their reply to my support ticket.

Been waiting over a month and one week now , and have not had a response to numerous e-mails and irc requests. guess my few clams are gone as well. Its really kind of sad because it just makes you loose confidence in the crypto establishment. Who can you trust. >:( >:( :( :-\

Yep, looks like their new project may be up soon. I´ll certainly check that out. As far as I´m concerned and based on my experience on coin-swap these are trustworthy people. The odds of catching that in the utterly scam-ridden and amoral BTC marketplace are probably better than finding diamonds in cat litter boxes but not by much.

The Coin-Swap.net staff want to thank everyone for their support. We had a great 2014 and successfully sold the exchange in December. The Coin-Swap team is working on a new project which will provide very cheap remittance to Southeast Asia. Look for https://exgeo.com to launch early April. Once again, thank you for your support!
