Title: [RUPL] Ranking-Up Pipe Line of Forum Members
Post by: vphasitha01 on August 07, 2018, 04:10:24 PM
I can't wait to get my PC back online to play a little with your database.
I just want to list all the users with 9 , 99, 249,... etc. merit and some other fun stats.

This is the motivation where I started to think about why we can't scraped the Merit data which iasenko (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1291828) searched, from available data in Bitcointalk Merit dashboard (https://public.tableau.com/profile/ddmrddmr#!/vizhome/BitcointalkMeritDashboard/GlobalSummary),prepared by DdmrDdmr (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1582324) (I called him as stat guru in bitcointalk forum :D). So then he guided me how should I do this work. I manually scraped those stats from "Ranking-up pipe line tab" in the Merit dashboard. This list of members were tabulated according to the latest data available as at  30th July 2018 and I will update this thread when Merit data dashboard updated by "DdmrDdmr".

Update 10 - List of Members were updated from the latest data available 19th October 2018

I've just given bob123 6 merit - which is what he needs to rank up.

I'll have a look at some of the others in a minute

This was the project I never accomplished but wanted to do.
Thanks for this. I'll check those accounts, as soon as I can :)

Isn't this list (http://loycevsbasement.privatedns.org/Merit/all_users_who_earned_Merit_2018-08-03_Fri_15.33h.txt) much easier to scrape those users?

The ones with 9 Merit got me thinking: I don't think this list is complete, right? I count 203 accounts with 9 Merit, and 1850 accounts with 10 Merit. That can't be a coincidence, does it mean 8 out of 9 Members have been trading Merit?

I couldn't resist, here's more data
(based on last Friday's Merit data dump. Note: I didn't check for Activity):
1. merit received by 5959 users
2. merit received by 2542 users
3. merit received by 1239 users
4. merit received by 815 users

7. merit received by 419 users
8. merit received by 302 users
9. merit received by 203 users

This list(which I scraped from DdmrDdmr) is complete. I think you missed the Note - 2 in my post at the bottom ;)

Yeah that's an interesting stat, I think we should analyse more before getting to any conclusion.( I am a believer of Merit trading users also to be tagged if staff can identify clear cut cases)

And also I think you missed  one part when you list down Merit transaction data. The initial Merit (airdoped Merits) also considered when I listing above members.

I didn't miss it, but I didn't interpret it correctly either.

You're right (again!). But that makes the difference even more interesting. I only checked a few accounts, but I think it's safe to say:
Most accounts that received 9 Merit are high ranking already.
Most accounts that received 10 Merit are Members.

Many accounts "earned" just enough Merit to Rank up. That can't be a coincidence.

I have a list of 2053 accounts with 9 or 10 Merit earned, it's too long to post (if anyone wants to chase this, PM me for the full list).

This was the project I never accomplished but wanted to do.
Thanks for this. I'll check those accounts, as soon as I can :)
That's what I actually wanted too, some of the members are actually worth to rank up ASAP. However some of the members didn't active recently and some of them even got tagged by DT members.

Nice to see a good derivate use of the information provided by the Dashboard. By playing around with it and filtering, I'm pretty sure we can find plenty of usefull subsets to talk about.

Edit: I’m adding merit and activity filters to the ranking-up pipeline tab, to facilitate the task. I’ll finish it tomorrow since something weird has happened tonight when adding the new filters which I still need to fix. Done.

I gave some merits to some of the members on this list, kinda randomly, but only if the posts deserved it.  There are some users on the list who consistently make shitposts, and they're shit out of luck.  I'm happy to give merits to members who need them to rank up, but only if they're worthy.

Great thread; I'm going to bookmark it and check back when I have more sMerits to give.

OK, now I've been trough the list. Gave some merit to the ones I though they deserve but big part of the list are just shiposters. I wonder how they ended up gaining 9 merit.
For the higher ranked members I have not enough merit to fill them so, I give the opportunity to the others to do it.
I really hope this thread will be stay updated like, every week or so. so we can spread some merit to those who deserve.

Thanks vphasitha01 for turning my idea into reality :)

By this post, are we encouraged to read through their posts to know if they are worthy of merit, or are we to give merit on compassion?

Actually you're the one who gives the original idea of this kind of thread and I just do some filtering of data from DdmrDdmr.
I will be updating the thread surely and then we don't need to start another threads for searching members posts who actually needed one or two merits to rank up. It's all here.

By this post, are we encouraged to read through their posts to know if they are worthy of merit, or are we to give merit on compassion?
It's just like 50/50 . I think we can see there post history and see wether actually they deserved to be Merited and rank up. In the other hand don't waste your sMerits for shitposters just because of only them needed one or two Merits.

You are wrong here, the initial airdrop was only for the "member" rank and above, if you can't see the merit history of some users is because the form keeps track only for the last 120 days. LoyceV has a great tool to check the merit history, also checking the bpip.org now you can find the merit history too. There are many tools like this available, just search the meta.

I've closed my thread due to no longer need to wait some of those listed here to apply for my service.
That's why I'll keep an eye on this one. :)

Great post. For Jr member, they can apply Here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4461881.0). Other member I will try to help here by maximum 2 merit if need and if deserve it. Just now I checked one his profile with shit post. So I am not interested to send merit shitposter.

Btw I will keep in eye here. If I can help some one sure I will do. I will request to OP exclude some member who isn't active long time.

As @Iasenko pointed out, Jr. Members didn’t get any Initial airdrop of Merits. The names on the list are derived from the Ranking-up pipeline tab I believe. If so, the column “Initial Merit” on the top right user list indicates the initial merit which is Zero for these users (a couple of cases are above zero, but that is due to the time difference we discussed between the TX file and the user profile scraping process).

TX details can be seen directly on the Merit Dashboard either on the User Summary Tab (filtering by Name) or the TXs tab (filtering by To User Name). The latter is a bit easier to browse due to space dedicated only to TXs.

yeah agreed, I only filtered the data. So I will add a separate column or colour for my next update to identify shitposters and members who are not active. Isn't that cool? and that will avoid wasting the time of other members who actually looking for members, truly deserved to be ranked. I am also a believer of Merits should not be given to the ANN threads or posters who post there frequently.

Note - I hope you're talking about the most of the Jr. Members who appear in the list.

I'm trying to help some of these members, but it looks like a lot of them post in sections I have blocked--namely Bitcoin Discussion, Economics, and Altcoin Discussion.  Some of the posts I am able to view are short, one-line garbage.

Going to keep looking through posts from these members to see if I can facilitate some ranking up.  Right now, though, it doesn't look like there are a lot of worthy posts to be merited.

Edit:  I have a few sMerits to give.  If there's anyone right at the borderline who's deserving of a merit or two, drop me a PM and I'll see if I agree with you.

Always good to see members are helping each others with whatever they can. OP you do know this will be a hard job to keep up with the updates  :)

Do you have plan to remove an entry once someone achieve the next rank on the list? Like I see some of them already got the merits for the next rank, will you replace them with the ones who are getting closer for the next rank? LoyceV and DdmrDdmr can provide you the up to date data.

P.S. I lead the topic Up rank in Russian locale-Congratulations! (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4570436.0) and keep track of many accounts which have recruited 75 percent or more merit for ranking up.

Yeah I will do my best to update the data. Together we can create a better forum where free less spam as much as possible. BTW I am hoping I should erase your name from my list, because you deserved to be ranked ASAP ;)

I'm also thinking about that wether I should remove the entry or not. I most probably removed the entries whose already ranked up in my next update. Is that Ok or do we have another better option?

Stat man(LoyceV) and Stat guru(DdmrDdmr) will surely help me to get those data. I scraped these data from DdmrDdmr's Merit dashboard.

I guess move the users to a new post who got promoted to the next rank, add a link on the OP saying, "Users already got promoted" or something like that. Once they get closer again for the next one then add them again on the main list. You will lose the reference of your hard work if you completely remove those entries.

Since the OP's work was inspired by me, I will give him one more idea to work on if he wants.

Can you list who gave the missing merit to rank-up to those who ranked up to Full Member and above?
I guess if you list the ones that move from jr. member to members will be quite a long list, but you can do it too if you want.

P.S. I just turned another Full to Sr. Member, ( btw Congrats mdayonliner)  and I love it :)

I can't wait to get my PC back online to play a little with your database.
I just want to list all the users with 9 , 99, 249,... etc. merit and some other fun stats.
BTW My PC is still offline ... :(

List of Members were updated from the latest data available 9th August 2018

Members added - 01
Jr. Members added - 03

update - Members with negative trust marked by red color (However all the members with red color doesn't mean that they didn't deserved to be ranked up, so DYOR)

Quickly derived from the Dashboard, based on awarded sMerits:

Can you post this list? I expect that many of them have bought Merit, or received it for other illegitimate reasons. If that's true, my next guess is that the large majority of these accounts has exactly 10 Merit, and not more than that.

Can you post this list? I expect that many of them have bought Merit, or received it for other illegitimate reasons. If that's true, my next guess is that the large majority of these accounts has exactly 10 Merit, and not more than that.
I've just created a Google Sheet with the 311 cases and most of the variables I've got (as of last Friday): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tNoqrFKMB-xTOIAtV2N1yDpahQVsJ3wFHBH0_cINUIk/edit?usp=sharing

The deadsea33 profile seems like an ex-Hero account, de-ranked after deleting posts.

I've just created a Google Sheet with the 311 cases and most of the variables I've got (as of last Friday):
The ones with exactly 10 Merit is what I'm interested in. If they would have earned their Merit through honest means, I would expect about the same number of users with 10 Merit as with 11 Merit.
From your list:
185 users have 10 Merit
20 users have 11 Merit
13 users have 12 Merit
10 users have 13 Merit

As expected, the majority of the list has exactly 10 Merit, which makes it very likely they don't really deserve it. Comparing to the number of users with 11 Merit and more, I would expect at most 30 users with 10 Merit. That would mean 5 out of 6 bought their Merit. The suspects (from your spreadsheet):

<...>
From your list:
185 users have 10 Merit
20 users have 11 Merit
13 users have 12 Merit
10 users have 13 Merit

As expected, the majority of the list has exactly 10 Merit, which makes it very likely they don't really deserve it. Comparing to the number of users with 11 Merit and more, I would exact at most 30 users with 10 Merit. That would mean 5 out of 6 bought their Merit. <...>
Yes, the grouped distribution certainly shows the 10 Merit group as outliers of the surrounding norm, although I did somewhere post that multiples of 5 are much more likely to be given in TX than the surrounding numbers (i.e. 10 is much more likely than 8,9,11,12) , with the exception of 1,2 and 3 sMerit TXs if I recall properly what I wrote.

The issue is really using this to prove with certainty rather that probability, and then the fact that the penalty is red-tagging at most unless ties to other offences can be made or connections to fraudulent alts. I went through a couple randomly and it’s not easy to discern. A few of them had positive trust of a kind, another was awarded by a legendary also with quite a bit of trust, that awarded 10 sMerits to multiple accounts, etc.

would be interesting to see how many members have the merits and not the activity to rank up.. myself (come on theymos - give me legendary) - but I imagine there will be a few other outliers as well

Quickly derived from the Dashboard, based on awarded sMerits:

The account which gave micgossens merits have behaviour of giving repeated merits to same people again and again: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=379487
check his merit giving pattern.

See how even legendary member handling their parked account:
See this merit record: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;u=368591 , post this link as well bcoz merit record will go after 120 days: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1053293.msg12204754#msg12204754

The guy gave merit is legendary and he gave merit to a 2015 post, straight 10 merit to move up his parked account.

That parked account is also from 2014 only with 50 activities.

Now lets not pretend that merit system works, only good people are suffering.

I only picked one account from above list.

Now what action will be taken against such legendary members?

<...snip...>

I don't think you understood how Merit system works. When I looking to your profile it's full of underworld bounty reports. If you ever contribute to the forum or do you ever shared your knowledge with others? If so I'm more than happy to give you the first Merit. So post your best shot for me or other members.

However you better to "read" sticky notes in the boards and always try to use "search" function before posting.

i can see how smartly my comments were ignored here, when you dont have counter, ignore.
Because truth is little bitter who wants to take steps to improve system, everyone is busy getting merits afterall, thats why i hate this merit system bcoz people planning actions which can give them merits.

This include write more about merit itself, making new thread, doing analysis about merit, interact on meta threads.

I've been struggling to get ranked up. Pls who can help me as I feel frustrated already.
It's no wonder you haven't gotten any merits, as all of your posts are of nearly the same short length and aren't any good.  It's obvious you're posting with an eye on the number of characters--obviously for your campaign minimum.  Don't you think you ought to improve your writing instead of whining about not ranking up?  Put a little more effort into your posts and somebody might give you some merits, but what you're doing now is obviously not working.

Also, when you're quoting a post, reply underneath it.  That's the forum standard and I'm not sure why you haven't picked up on that.

~

Yes I've found a lot of them abused with friends or even their main account, some cases are still reported here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2896910.200 but since we have have a small number of cases where DT put a red tag on abusers, I've simply stopped to report those "small" merit abuses, it takes hours to find all of them and basically for nothing.

You can do the same with 100 and 250 merits, you will probably find the same % where the x00 number is dominant, and not is not a coincidence.

Out of sMerit for now. I'll come back again when I can give to those who deserve.

Still not possible to decide if a hero is waiting only for the merits to come, when his/her activity is somewhere in the middle between the min/max range of the required to become a Legendary?
I know it doesn't make any difference if that hero is waiting for the merits or the activity, but anyway :)

Actually, I created this thread only to help the users who deserved to be ranked up, But now I can see some of the members still retained at the same merit level where I include them in the first place. Sometimes it is surprised to see how they got that merits too. You are right and I think now we can identify the cheaters too.

as I have said a few times people need to stop fucking bitching and learn some shit..

1) that whole thread is a totally different world to the rest of the forum, its like a clique within a clique within a world of its own.. I suggest reading about it and either integrating there or shutting the fuck up.
2) read the fucking rules spaztard, 3 posts in a row isn't allowed - even newbies do not do this
c) you are a joke - Merit is life.
f) better yourself instead of worrying about others, who gives a fuck if you have time to check into the largest thread on the forum
12) I dislike you and your attitude
z) did I tell you to read the rules yet?

I checked fine99 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=917021)'s merit history (http://loycevsbasement.privatedns.org/Merit/history/917021.html), and I wouldn't be surprised if he bought his 245 Merits. I don't think this post for example (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2097334.msg22839881#msg22839881) deserves 50 Merit. He's already tagged by Staff member dbshck (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=153634) for merit abuse.
He's also on my ignore list, which most likely means he's been spamming one of my giveaway campaigns with invalid entries and/or multiple accounts (about 2 years ago). The plot thickens: the post under his post with 50 Merit, which was made less than 3 minutes later, is also on my ignore list.
So my question is: should users with likely merit abuse be on the RUPL?

I also think it's clear cut case and he should be red tagged by DT member. So I think it's better to remove those Merit abuse users and inactive users(not active last 3 months) from my list since it will save the time of other members who willing to spend their sMerits.

This thread is not a place where you beg for Merits, but for giving little help for members who actually deserved to be ranked up and I think you're one of them. I'm hoping that you will be ranked up sooner(you deserved it). Sometimes gaining the last few Merits to ranked up is the toughest and in my case LoyceV ease that path for me.

I think Zapo (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2015835) deserve full member rank. His current merit status 97. More 3 merit need to become Full member as well he have enough activity. Perhaps you can update your list. Eventually I can say he is doing good job to prevent signeture spam.

For reference  ;)
Regardless of who you are I want to thank you for actually doing your job on this campaign. You're pretty much one of the only new campaign managers that is doing what they should and vetting users beforehand. If everyone did this then the forum wouldn't be in such the state it is. Keep up the good work.

Zapo reached his Merits limit after I updated the thread(after the latest merit data dump at last Friday). @Zapo really deserved to be ranked up due to the way he is doing his campaign job and how about this way? I will give him two sMerits and you can give the last one.

This is a good initiative OP, I have noticed a sharp decrease in merit awarding too.

I've created a thread about it here: Has the Merit faucet dried up? Solutions? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4502448.0).

I was a Jr. Member when the merit system was implemented so, I got 0 merit from the start but I was able to gain all of my current merit and managed to rank up to Full Member before having the necessary activity. Not sure what happened all of a sudden, now I have the necessary activity but I'm lacking merit...

I believe I am posting the same way I did it in the past, but it seems my posts go unnoticed. If you guys have time, take a look at my post history and let me know if I'm doing anything wrong.

Just to note here, that this is a list of people who need 1-5 merit to rank up / depending on the rank of course/. In your case you gonna need to wait until you reach 245 merit. I hope you don't need to wait to long as I'm familiar with your posting habits.Looking forward to give you the missing merit to rank up ;)

Aaa.... ok :) I missed that "small" detail.

I though OP was just creating a list of people who are missing merits to ran-up, didn't check their current merit rankings.

Thanks for the encouragement but from the looks of it, it's going to take some time for me to gather the extra 80 or so, merits...
I have been trying to make my posts more visible these days, let's see how this works out.

Don't know why, but since I gained the necessary activity, I'm seeing getting the required merit as a challenge.  :)

Well, since you were not so active the last months the lack of merit is completely understandable. If I remember correctly you stated with 0 merit, right? So more than 170 is quite an achievement and 80 more should't be so big barrier. I'm pretty sure that i'm gonna see you on this list soon.

Back to the OP, You need to update the merit scores. BTW How often you do that? I have some merit left but I cant find anyone deserving.

Don't know why, but since I gained the necessary activity, I'm seeing getting the required merit as a challenge.  :)

Merits given away in the first few months after the implementation of the system were way more than the latter months till now. The distribution has since been decreasing, and a possible reason for that is that Merits are cut into half when given away, because the receiver only gets to give away 1 sMerit after receiving 2 Merits which have probably caused the existing sMerits to shrink somehow. As soon as more Merit Sources are chosen, that amount would gradually increase, hopefully. Other than that, the posts that are constructive or even mildly constructive are unnoticed because of the spam that is posted after them which covers them up, and a person carrying sMerits to give away don't get to see them unless they care to surf multiple pages in search of a post worth Meriting. And that is very big reason why some people being constructive enough are lacking Merits.

To @OP,
A little shameless self-promotion-- Is it possible for a person to get a place in the list if he lacks more than 10 Merits to rank up?  :P

Thank you for adding me to the list. I was hoping to get listed in this list (where we are posting right now) because I thought it has more active members which may help me a little bit to get the required Merits to rank up. I think my posts are good enough for that, but maybe others don't think so and I don't always meet their criteria for a quality post.

Back to the OP, You need to update the merit scores. BTW How often you do that? I have some merit left but I cant find anyone deserving.
Sorry for the late replies. I have been busy with my family for the last few days and now I'm back. BTW I have decided to update the merit score and the member's list in fortnightly because I'm somewhat busy with my workplace in these days.

Don't bother to look at merit score If I'm already updated the remarks column ;)

You are doing great and you will be surely added to my next update if you are able to get those 2 merits to be eligible :P

Don't press too hard mate and just do what you have done previously to gain 88 Merits. I also felt sometimes that we don't get merited even though our posts are good enough to be merited. Then I realize there are way better posts/posters also still not getting merited and sometimes those posts are hidden between the spammer's posts or getting unnoticed by other members. But don't be demotivated and always try to see what you have achieved.

There are 200 000 recently demoted newbies that need 1 merit to rank up. Work on that list..

Sorry for spamming your thread, i just couldn't help myself.  ;) ;D

You can easily find few of them (actually it's becoming a trend now) by looking at threads recently created in Meta (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=24.0) ;D .

Don't be surprised to see if first few pages will surely be clogged with Newbies Prayer Massages in the next few days. @theymos can we have a separate sub-forum for those who got demoted recently?

nice work and helpful. I think we need more idea like this one to promote people effort otherwise people will hesitate to make useful threads because some people think even if they post good thread, they wont get anything back.

You will be added surely tomorrow when I update the list.

Can you guess the rank?? It's my own creation and I called it Elite Legendary

I'm more than happy to ranked up you with my sMerit. I may think sometimes you will catch the theymos with Merits If others will stop giving away Thanksgiving Merits to theymos :D

I'd be proud if I overtake satoshi :D Even though satoshi did it without posting for 8 years.
I'll never reach theymos-levels, he earned 1391 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=merit;stats=toptopicsat) Merit just by announcing the Merit system :D

I don't press hard, nor I've ever did. I believe in myself, and I know that I will get what I deserve today or tomorrow. I'm not in a hurry to rank up, because I know I will, eventually.

Totally. I usually get motivated by what I have achieved, to be honest. I'm among The Top 400 Most Merited Users (https://bpip.org/report.aspx?r=mostmerited) in the forum, which is quite an achievement for an ordinary user like Me, who has no much technical knowledge or stuff like that.

Legendary added - 01
Hero Members added - 01
Full Members added - 01
Members added - 03
Jr. Members added - 06

Members Ranked up fortnightly

5 Member ranked up to Full Member
3 Jr. Members ranked up to Member

Note - Added hypothetical rank of "Self-Made Legendary" and LoyceV (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=459836) would be the 2nd member when he achieved the landmark of 2000 Merits (earned 1000 Merits):D

Until the last merit decision, I started to learn something in the forum. Obviously I felt sorry for my late start. After this last decision, of course, my enthusiasm was broken. I spend time in the forum again, but I can't adapt as much as before. Merit is not very easy to win, unfortunately.

It's a tad bit off-topic here, but 2000 merits is nothing to sneeze at.  This is why Theymos ought to create ranks higher than Legendary--or at least do something to commemorate X number of merits or X number of activity.

I used to think it was going to be a major problem when the influx of newbies started to rank up based solely on activity.  That would have allowed anyone to reach Legendary rank simply by meeting an activity quota.  Now, however, the chances of the average newbie ever reaching even Hero status seem infinitesimal.

On-topic:  I'll take a look through the list of members who are close to ranking up.  I'm glad such a list exists, because just randomly going through threads and members' post history is a huge waste of time.

You already posted the same post in the Turkish board with your Türkçe language after 2 minutes you have posted in this thread. The thing I didn't get is why you used the google translator to translate the English content into Turkish. I assume you're a Turkic.

Link - Google translated content (https://imgur.com/iO2BkFy)

If you are here to learn, you are not holding back by anyone even the new merit requirement. Speaking about learning we all are not too late to learn. We all are learning from womb-to-tomb. Merit is not something you win, but the appreciation that you get from others for the contribution you have made. It doesn't need to be a marvellous one, but posting quality stuff will eventually gain merits.

Alone055 is now a Full Member. There is increase in current Merits of BTCHadzija and kaisa.

I think it is better if you remove the Members from the list after they reach that rank, instead of updating "Now ------ Member". It will cause list to be short and to the point.

Just to note here, that this is a list of people who need 1-5 merit to rank up / depending on the rank of course [...]

OP, how about now? :) Can I get added to your main post?

Seems like I was a bit skeptical on getting ~80 merits two weeks ago but it seems I managed to round em' up  :D

Would appreciate any chance to get more exposure of my post history.

You're a good example for demoted newbies. When you put extra effort before starting a thread merits will come eventually and no need for begging or complaining.

Like I said earlier, I don't know why but once I was lacking merit to rank up, I saw it like a challenge and put in more time into my posts. Looks like it paid off.

Yes, I think the best thing anyone who wants to rank-up should follow is to never give up and be involved in everything.

Just a suggestion but, can you archive those that have ranked up and have in the OP only the active ones ? If it's not too much work for you, of course.
Most of the profiles had surpassed the required merit and are no longer needed in the OP.

I usually write in Turkish Local board but I need only 1 merit to be member. Can anyone help me? At least can you add my name the table?

Yes -> Bitcointalk Ranking-up pipeline- Those close to their next rank (lacking Merits) (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5206035.0)
Since you do not meet the requirements, you will not be listed on the list. Only when you are in the 20%-missing-group will you be listed.
