Title: Blatant Merit Abuse
Post by: Dig Bicks on August 07, 2018, 05:35:55 PM
Account that has been woken up just happens to give multiple accounts the exact amount of merit to be ranked up to member level.

When we see the time gap between each post got merited then this is clearly a merit abuse but don't know this is alt accounts or not,we need to have more solid proofs for accusing as altaccounts but still we can tag them for the merit abuse anyway. :D

Edit:Maybe the account Kashif009 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=356755) was bought recently because I can see that the user changed his email and passwrod recently and also wokeup from long inactivity just to send the sMerits available since this is a high ranked account

Seriously.  There's not much more that can be done to that account, trust-wise, that's going to have any more of an effect.  It's already been negged to hades.

What I'm wondering is how many of these accounts have been hacked or purchased.  This particular account seems to have been pretty shady for years now, but there are other older accounts waking up, handing out merits, and/or trying to join signature campaigns.  If someone has a hacked account with a high rank, they have those airdropped sMerits which they could easily give to an alt account.

One account (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=339978) I just tagged for being bought or hacked gave out a merit for a post made in 2016 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1456332.msg14720309#msg14720309), seemingly randomly.  I have a very hard time believing this is legit, though I could be wrong--the member he gave the merit to isn't exactly active here anymore.

Anyway even if this crap is happening, airdropped sMerits are going to run out eventually if they haven't already.  I do still wonder about sMerits still sitting in inactive accounts that have yet to be hacked or sold.
