Title: I have been toying with the idea of an open marketplace, input wanted
Post by: ByronP on February 25, 2014, 03:40:53 PM
I have been toying with the idea of an open marketplace that uses alts as the payment method. Like ebay but without paypal and alts instead. What are your thoughts???

It's a good idea. There are a few of these sites floating around, though none have managed to fill the gap that Bitmit once had.

It will take a lot of work. Not to get the website up and running but to get it to a stage where you are above the competition. That said, it is something our community needs and when the right marketplace comes along we will support it.

If you manage to get another bitmit up, that's awesome. If you can even get close, that's great. Any effort is good, there really isn't an ebay-like crypto site out there anymore.

If you are launching a open marketplace soon you will have to outline a step by step on how to take the right actions, and file the appropriate complaints for buyer and seller and you need to offer a sort of helping hand with anyone needing to file complaints, and keeping a record of everything filed as a community so if anything does ever end up in a court room there will be thousands of documented reports ready at everyone disposal.

OK all good ideas and dispute resolution is a problem but as a community i think the best route would be as previously mentions a transparent resolution process where the documents can be reviewed and the community as a whole has a level of input into the outcome instead of the sites staff being the judge jury and executioner.

The funds for any purchase must be available in the users account before bidding and after the auction closes the amounts go into escrow until both parties agree or it is escalated for remediation.

That's my plan on that so far... The actual site implementation is fairly straightforward.

Any other suggestions/points/questions?
