Lately I have realized couple of newbies complain about vulnerability of the market because of the dips
But truth is we seem to have forgotten that

Whereas Bitcoin is the first and largest decentralised digital currency used as a store of value and a means of payment, Ethereum is the largest decentralised application network.

In my opinion, BTC still dominates over ETH because of its large consumer/investor base which originates from it being the first crypto coin and people like it also because there's nothing else succeeding it.

Basically wrong. Bitcoin is not a mean of payment, it is intended as a store of value. BCH is intended as a mean of payment and thus much more prone to ups & downs.

I think it has everything to do with being first.  The media also talks about Bitcoin almost solely which gives me the indication big money is behind it.  Another fact is Bitcoin has been around the longest and has had no issues so people trust it. 

Bitcoin is the ultimate cryptocurrency as a currency- for medium of exchange, store of value, and unit of account. No other crypto rivals Bitcoin in terms of use as a currency.

However, there are numerous utility currencies that can do many amazing things that Bitcoin currently cannot. If these utilities begin to see massive adoption than BTC dominance my fall.

It seems like your explanation is incomplete. Almost all people know that bitcoin is the first and biggest decentralized digital currency used as a store of value and means of payment. But why is it still the biggest and dominating the market? While being the first does not guarantee that a product will still exist. Hopefully, someone can answer this clearly.

Not sure about that but in fact those people are using bitcoin to store their value rather than use it to create a payment. a lot of people right now are considering the bitcoin as the best place to store their value and they can get the advantage at the same time.

for me bitcoin will always be superior in the crypto market, the pioneer is the main reason he is superior and we agree that bitcoin is the king of crypto. there has been a lot of time given to crypto and other alts, but until now it cannot defeat the dominance of bitcoin, even crypto who claim genuine bitcoin cannot do anything.

I will compare bitcoin with computer where it has motherboard and every hardware is very dependent with the motherboard. All of it parts are connected with motherboard just like the memory, the storage, the lan card, the sound card, the usb slot and everything. It just means that all of those previously mentioned will not function unless you connect it to the motherboard. So motherboard is literally the mother and those other hardware parts are are the children wherein they are all dependent with their mother. So bitcoin will be the mother of all cryptocurrency and all other altcoins will be its children where they are all dependent with bitcoin as well.

Bitcoin was the first breakthrough in cryptocurrency origination so it's no surprise as to why it is superior. Back to 2014 btc traded for 1usd but now it's above 5000usd and the next coin to it is at about 350usd, the superiority of btc lies in its flexibility and it's value as it has kept improving and increasing in the past years.

Because bitcoin has strongest value than alts, that makes it seems as superior. Others are based on it, if this value are down, other coins automatically will be down. We should be  welcome with the market situation because it is very fluctuative and unpredictable.

because bitcoin is the oldest and the bitcoin community is very large. This bitcoin has become a ruler in crypto so it's very superior and no one can match it. even many people know bitcoin but don't know about crypto.

yeah sure i agree with you, countries like Japan have also legalized bitcoin to serve as a means of payment and there are some companies in Japan that pay their workers salaries in bitcoin, when you mention crypto currency or digital currency, bitcoin comes to mind, all these makes it superior.

Bitcoin has over 50% of the market now so it is undeniably the king, but I think the future will be brighter for Altcoins. Bitcoin right now is clearly the leader for adoption but as more coins enter the market and people develop a better understanding of cryptocurrency I wager that newer more innovative Altcoins will thrive in the post-bitcoin era.

why does Bitcoin dominate market prices because Bitcoin is the basis of crypto so that Ethereum or other altcoins are difficult to rival or other reasons you can read on the forum. this is only my view why Bitcoin is difficult to resist as you see it in this thread.
