The Bank of Japan said it had nothing to add to a comment by Governor Haruhiko Kuroda that bitcoin was "very interested" in bitcoin.

Haha That's really fine "Bitcoin was very intereted in bitcoin"

From the source: "Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpeles told Reuters in an email: "We should have an official announcement ready soon-ish. We are currently at a turning point for the business. I can't tell much more for now as this also involves other parties." He did not elaborate on the details or give his location.
He is afraid of Bitcoin's community cause he really made a mess

The official announcement :

Dear MtGox Customers,

In light of recent news reports and the potential repercussions on MtGox's operations and the market, a decision was taken to close all transactions for the time being in order to protect the site and our users. We will be closely monitoring the situation and will react accordingly.

Best regards,
MtGox Team

Looks not promising  :(

By "react accordingly" I assume he means "continue hiding".

Or more probably "act only when forced to do so by law". They're just causing more damage to Bitcoin and the community by keeping everybody in the dark.

Don't worry! I'm sure they'll enable withdrawals again soon-ish™ :D

Haha I agree, they will enable withdrawals within now and 6 years or so.
The problem they have is that nobody trust them anymore and will withdraw all their money when this option comes available again. Result will be that mtgox will go bankrupt within 24 hours after this.

So they have 2 options at the moment.

- run like a motherf****, dont look back and take some cocktailes in Hawai from the stolen Btc
- or, enable withdrawals and run like a motherf**** to avoid the agry herd and go bankrupt anyway

For what crime? He's hasn't been found guilty or accused of any crime yet. Well, other than running a shoddy business, but I'm not sure if that's an arrestable offence, but maybe something will come to light soon which he will be legally accountable for.

They operate business in USA. I think it was the US restrictions that caused all the delays with getting verified etc in the first place. Also, since when does America care where you're based (see Megaupload etc).

Don't forget they invaded and destroyed Hiroshima with a nuclear bomb in WW2, they pretty much conquered the country even though they obviously like people to think otherwise.
