Title: post count issue
Post by: havok1998 on August 13, 2018, 07:52:06 AM
Why does my post count keeps on falling to 85? some days ago, the post count was 87 then it dropped to 85 and yesterday i made posts and the count reached till 89 and now it has again dropped to 85? Is it bug or something?

If you post in megathreads and they got deleted, all your posts there are gone without notice that's why your post count decreases.

Checking the modlog you have 1 topic removed. See here > https://bpip.org/profile.aspx?p=havok1998

If you aren't receiving a message that the posts have been deleted by a moderator then it's likely, because threads that you have posted in have been removed. Try to avoid posting in threads which are generic questions, and encourage spam, because they tend to get removed.

They don't have to be recent posts. Some times megathreads go on for a few months, and will eventually be reported, and then removed. Thus, it might not be easy for you to identify what posts were lost. I'm almost 100% certain that you posted in a thread which was later removed.

Some thread you left a post on might had been removed completely. You said that all your posts are intact. How do you remember all previous 85 posts ?

If any topic removed by topics creator or by moderator then your post will be removed too. And if your post removed then you post number will be decreased.

You won't get notified when one of your posts gets deleted if the thread where it was posted was completely removed. You will only be notified when a thread/post created by you is specifically removed by a moderator/user that manages a self-moderated thread.

Don't worry about the post count, it's not really relevant in the long run.

Most of the mega threads are trashcanned by the forum moderators. So whatever post we have made previously or making the post at the new thread which is deleted by the op also loose the post count buddy.

Not only even DT members also may get loose the post counts since that old thread they have posted. Do not take this as a big matter here.

I visited your post history and I see that there's nothing wrong with it (IMO) so I don't think that poor quality of post is the main reason why you are experiencing this.
There's a big chance that other respondents are right, the thread where you posted was deleted that's why your post count is declining. But don't worry too much because this is not an unusual case, it is normal and I'm sure that others (including me) already experienced the same thing ;D.

This kind of scenario is inevitable because cleaning the forum is a part of mod's duties but you can lessen the probability of experiencing this at least. Only post on threads which have are decent and have a sense as well, and prohibit yourself to post on spammy, shitty and mega threads.
