Title: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: Gyrsur on August 15, 2018, 03:31:31 PM As the title mentioned it. A thread where everyone can post its Ignore List to the public.

(Second try) Post by: bitart on August 15, 2018, 06:57:49 PM I'll wait for JetCash's ignore list, but I'm not sure he will release it to the public :)
But I know that other legendaries has also huge ignore lists, so after a while we could try to combine these ignore lists into a big one (or everybody can put together his very own ignore lists based on these lists here) Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: Welsh on August 15, 2018, 07:03:18 PM I've tried in the past to ignore users, but honestly I could never do it, and had to take them off the list. Just because I was intrigued about what they had to say. Even though the majority of the time it resulted in me pulling out my hair...
Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: TheBeardedBaby on August 15, 2018, 07:30:03 PM I stated researching some time ago the public ignore lists and I wanted to make a database but.. had no time to complete it.
If you are really curious you can check here : [<list>Ignore list database, add yours if you want. Experimental thread. (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4453143.0) My list is empty as I don't worry about spam and I want to hear/read what everyone has to say (and often report it) Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: vphasitha01 on August 15, 2018, 07:32:11 PM Great idea OP and this is what I have suggested few days back. I'm not a tech guy, but i know there are so many of them in this forum alone. So can I know my idea is viable or not?
We need a list so that I can ignore them. :) Hey "JC" can I get your ignore list? I think you have the longest ;) How about getting a ignore list of a well-established member and restore that file to ours like copying contacts from a sim card to another phone. Isn't that great? (just my thought only) Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: atrocityx on August 15, 2018, 07:41:56 PM There's at least 20 or so people I really don't like anything they have to say pretty much ever, but I can't put them on ignore because then I can't see all the infuriating things they're saying. It's really a love/hate relationship that's actually a great waste of time and petty... but it is what it is... it's like reading about people you disagree with in politics.
I'll give a clue though.. 10 or so are probably because of that flat earth thread that's been going on for years. Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: vlad230 on August 15, 2018, 08:20:10 PM If you ask me, I think it's a waste of time & energy to ignore people. Not to mention that you'll be losing valuable information in the end or miss out on new opportunities.
I know you may think person X is an idiot or does not have anything valuable to say right now, but keep in mind that this may change in the near future and you'll be missing out. Remember, everyone was saying Steve Jobs was always an arrogant idiot (even when he wasn't rich). Information has always been King, isolation yourself from it is never a good idea ;) Going back to your question, as you might have guessed it, I haven't ignored anyone here. Although, I have crossed paths with some idiots here ::) Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: LTU_btc on August 15, 2018, 11:12:51 PM My ignore list is empty because I just don't put users to it. I'll explain why. I think it's just waste of time. I can put 15, 30 or 50 users on ignore per day, but what's the point to do that on such huge forum?, there are just too many spammers and everything is getting worse day by day. Ignoring spammers can't beat problem.
About trolls, scammers and similar bastards - I never ignore users just because I don't agree with their views. I just don't want to live in bubble and imagine that everything is perfect in this world. I only noticed that sometimes I put users to my ignore list accidentally while browsing forum on my smartphone. Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? Just because I was intrigued about what they had to say. Even though the majority of the time it resulted in me pulling out my hair... Lol I was going to write exactly that. I used too out some on my ignore list in t he past. Then when I saw"this user is being ignored" I just removed him so I could read (i am curious lol) Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: InvoKing on August 15, 2018, 11:34:03 PM This is my "list", apart from some politics closed minded spammers, i don't know who are the others and if i mistakenly added them to my list!
I rarely put people on ignore BTW. Code: af_newbie Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? I check them from time to time and if they have something useful to say I remove them. It's impossible to read large fast moving threads without filtering out the noise. Hah, and even then it's impossible to keep up with this site! :D Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? I agree with what you said as well, plus if it ever happen there is an interesting thread and you are trying to follow it, having people in ignore, become impossible to understand what is going on. :-\ So empty ignore list for me as well, for anything else there is the trust indicator. Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: Jet Cash on August 20, 2018, 07:45:23 AM I'll wait for JetCash's ignore list, but I'm not sure he will release it to the public :) But I know that other legendaries has also huge ignore lists, so after a while we could try to combine these ignore lists into a big one (or everybody can put together his very own ignore lists based on these lists here) I haven't posted mine yet, because I was going to have a go at categorising it. Recently I've become fairly militant, and I'm adding people for things like starting threads with all caps titles. I actually created an appeal process, and I set up a support ticket system here - https://talkmerit.com/support/ I've been looking into starting my own ERC20 coin to sell domain names at a discount, and that has taken a bit of time. I registered a name for it - XEEcoin.com , but all I've done with that site is to put a holding page on it. I'm on the netbook at the moment, but maybe I should post my ignore list later when I;m on the Notebook, it probably needs a good cleanup. 4 of my reasons for ignoring members are - Including long quotes of original or recent posts. Including large images in threads other than social threads. ( doesn't include stats graphs) All caps thread titles. Begging for merits Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: The Cryptovator on August 20, 2018, 08:09:33 AM I expect we can see most biggest ignore list from Jet Cash ;) , Btw , I have only few members on my ignore list & I don't want to post it publically. Because I don't want to belittle anyone. If I ignore some one that means I don't like to see his/her post. It's totally my personal reason, I don't think it should publish on public place.

Agreed - threads like this do nothing but ask for trouble. :/ Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: Jet Cash on August 20, 2018, 08:42:40 AM Are you going to launch ICO? Perhaps yesterday you register domain name, Yes - that was me. You can't keep any secrets here on Bitcoin Talk. :) I don't believe in ICOs, so there won't be an offering. The idea is to help to sell domain names, and to offer them at a discount for using the coin as payment. I'll start a project when I know what I'm doing. Apologies if this is derailing a useful thread, if anyone want to discuss XEE, then I'll start another thread. I don't think I have the largest ignore list, but I may be the noisiest user of the ignore feature. I hoped that it would help to improve posting behaviour. To have any effect, it needs to be possible for posters to come off the list should they modify their behaviour here. This means that I need to do more to improve my appeal process. Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: NavI_027 on August 20, 2018, 11:06:33 AM As the title mentioned it. A thread where everyone can post its Ignore List to the public. After I've read this thread, I also went to my profile info to check my ignore list though I'm confident that no one is in there. But then I get shocked when I found out that there's someone in my ignore list ;D. Hmm, I never ignore users before as far as I remember so maybe what happened is just an accident, maybe I accidentally clicked the ignore button on his account from one of his posts (by the way, his name is joinfree). Well, I fixed the problem already, I now removed his name on my list.https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=%userID%;sa=ignprefs Actually I'm not into ignoring co-members here in the forum even how bad his posting habits because it such a waste of my time and besides I believe that there is always a room for improvement. If I feel bad on someone's post in terms of it's grammar, thought or attitude then I just scroll down and go back into my business, as simple as that. I am just primarily concern with shittyposters and not with poor quality posters. Title: Re: [Survey] Who has who on its Ignore List? (Second try) Post by: InvoKing on August 20, 2018, 12:36:25 PM Agreed - threads like this do nothing but ask for trouble. :/ Sometimes it is good for (some of) them to know that they are ignored, this may let them revise their ideology (prefer to say idiology). Of course, the majority will keep repeating same idiotic ideas over and over but at least we made a point here. |
