Title: I wish there was somewhere to discuss new crypto projects.
Post by: Jet Cash on August 19, 2018, 12:00:15 PM
I keep having ideas about new crypto projects. Some of them are viable, but most probably aren't It would be great if it was possible to discuss some of the ideas in this forum, but every time I try, the discussion doesn't seem to go anywhere. Maybe all my ideas are crap, and that;s the problem. :)

How about starting a moderated thread then? Anything you deem irrelevant should be deleted immediately so that the topic isn't diverted from the original concept. :)

What is Service Discussion (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=85.0) for? I thought it is the board for discussing new/old projects relating anyhow to Bitcoin. Can't someone use that board for discussing a new project idea with the community?

Exactly. Start with a moderated thread in the Service Discussion section and keep it the way you want it. Don't let it go anywhere outside the boundries of your idea.

Is anyone likely to visit it there. One thing I was thinking of doing is to start an ERC20 token, but I'm not sure that counts as a service.

Don't worry too much about the section, Even if you Post it in the wrong section, A mod will move it to the right one.

You know there is a whole world outside of "Meta" :P You will find plenty of "Experts" out there  ;D

You could probably do this in project discussion, or alt discussion if it's mostly alt coin related. Anything that requires any sort of thought put into a discussion probably won't get many comments by sig spammers here though. They just want somewhere to write their one/two-liner as fast as possible then move on to the next thread. You could self-mod it to keep them out or away as well.

I think people do visit that board quite often if not usually, but you can get your audience if the thing you start discussing is interesting.

Just a token? Or a project backed up by its own token like the most of them these days? I'm not that much knowledgeable about these stuff but I think people creating ERC20 tokens mostly do it with a project to attract real world investors for their token. And they get quite the attention if what their projects offers is unique and is a thing in demand for the public.

It's part of a much broader initiative. The token would be a means to discount the purchase of virtual assets such as domain names. It does require a fair bit of thought to turn it into a viable project though.

Thanks guys. It's a long time since I visited project development, and it looks as if that's the place to go.

It will be interesting to see if we can get some projects going with Bitcoin Talk members.

[postscript]

It looks as if project development is for Bitcoin related projects, althoughit seems to be mainly ICOs. Thereis even some pratt called Dibbs who is posting in all caps - real kindergarten stuff. Is the forum moderated these days.

Maybe serious discussion would be a better bet. ANN wouldn't be any good, because I don't want to create a scam site, or to run a bounty programme.

That would be the right place to post about crypto-making inquiries and talks. Because doing it in altcoin discussion wont get you anywhere, because if you post it there in just a minute your thread will be dump real quick. Anyway looking forward on what you plan to make in the future.

Well the basic idea is to learn about creating coins, and ERC20 seems the easiest way to go. The purpose of the coin is to sell some of my domain names that are close to expiry at a low price, and if it works, then others could use the service. You would only need coins if you want a domain name, so no airdrops I'm afraid. It's only a mini-project, so no serious money to be made.

I've got the domain name - XEE coin.com (http://xeecoin.com/), but that has only got a holding page on it.
