Title: Bitcoin Core 0.17.0 [Too many updates] Post by: hugeblack on August 21, 2018, 05:15:37 PM A while ago I read this Bitcoin Core 0.17.0 is almost ready (Release Candidates coming soon) (https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/993hno/bitcoin_core_0170_is_almost_ready_release/), I think I made a mistake with numbers, but it's a new update.
Does that wallet needs for many updates in a short time? I know there are bugs and so on, but maybe two updates a year are enough "plus an update when an important bug reported." I didn’t follow the changes in the new updates but the update "0.15.1 to 0.16.0" was necessary. As for the other updates, I do not think there are any significant changes. Bitcoin Core version history Code: 2018-07-29 Bitcoin Core version 0.16.2 released Title: Re: Bitcoin Core 0.17.0 [Too many updates] Post by: pooya87 on August 22, 2018, 03:31:29 AM As for the other updates, I do not think there are any significant changes. there weren't any significant changes in those and that is why only the patch is changing not the minor. (MAJOR.MINOR.PATCH (https://semver.org/)) like from 0.16.0 to 0.16.1. do we need these many new versions? yes we do. there are minor and major bug fixes, additional features and a lot of new changes after the SegWit release so there will be more work done on bitcoin core and any other application build on top of bitcoin protocol. |
