Title: This is how the weak are protected in a free society.
Post by: I.Goldstein on October 22, 2011, 01:48:45 PM

If the desire to end filth is strong enough, it will be ended. The means are not limited to governments and organized structures of law. People will organize whatever means to accomplish their task. They can be as decentralized and voluntary as the act above: Anonymous dismantling an online pedophile ring.

Exactly. With the power of the internet changing organizational pardigms and allowing many to many media, it's only a matter of time before technotarianism will become a relevant philosophy on the world scale.

The change is coming, believe it.

Well done Anonymous and Thank you

Sweet...so how many pedo's were arrested?

Oh...none.

So what you're celebrating is Anonymous giving them the tipoff that they'd been compromised before any actual police agency could investigate.  Wow, fantastic.  Please extrapolate on how this protects anyone besides the perpetrators.

In reality, this probably will result in the abortion of several investigations that could have put cuffs on wrists, which even someone like you would have to agree is more important than crashing a webserver.  At least if you're concerned about protecting children more than trumpeting your retarded viewpoint of the world.

There should be arrests if the police bother to investigate the leaked information. Anonymous has done more work than our police force has ever done regarding this case. If our current regime and police force works so hard to protect us, then they should be putting pedophiles to justice any second now.

What leaked information?  Usernames?  Please explain how someone is supposed to investigate "littlelover".

There were claims of there being relevant information associated with the usernames. They could of left enough clues to lead to an actual individual.

Well, you looked at the pastebins right?  Those contain all the leaked info.  So please tell us how you'd begin the investigation.

How many of these people were actually abusing or aiding in the abuse of children? Few, if any, I bet.

It'd be hilarious if "Lolita City" was a honeypot op set up by one federal agency, only to be largely populated by undercover CP investigators busilly trading in CP already captured in previous cases, while desperately trying to make a case against each other.

In fact, "Lolita City" does seem kind of rediculously obvious, and Tor itself was developed by Navy Intelligence.

That would make a great plotline to Hackers 2.

i mean really, how would anyone know how much work the police force has done regarding this case? since unlike Anonymous, they don't go around putting stuff on pastebin.

If you are right, there are 13 innocent men probably in fear of their lives as they have had their names published linked to child abuse.  That's a scary thought.

Everyone signing up at the next federal honey pot should use the name of their congressman.

Actually anonymous is only doing this because it's funny to pick on stupid people. Frankly if they thought bitcoin and it's users were stupid enough they would most likely ddos this site too.

Is that right?  So the "cyber" defense contractor that they humiliated to the point of the CEO publicly asking for their mercy just a couple of months ago, they were just a bunch of stupid contractors working for an even more stupid federal government willing to pay them?

The "Hidden Wiki" that they refer to is on Tor, which means that they able to identify the actual servers that host the Hidden Wiki, as well as the servers that host the CP sites noted.  This is supposed to be so difficult as to be practially impossible to do, and according to the author, this feat took only a few minutes.

I'm in your camp here.  Yeah, viewing CP is wrong, but let's say one of the usernames links to the person--I think ruining that guy's life is worse than him viewing kiddie pictures.  OTOH the best way to stop the guys who make CP is to destroy the market for it...  still, while I approve of the site attack, I think releasing usernames was not a good thing.

Can you really destroy the market for it?

By "destroy the market" I meant aggressively go after people who view CP to such an extent that many who would try to get it are now afraid to.  I was countering my own opinion from the previous sentence.

Isn't that like saying that you'll destroy the market for movies by getting rid of The Pirate Bay?

Or destroy real violence by going after violent video games and movies.

It's on tor, there IS no IP to look at, at least not one that leads to somewhere besides a dozen tor nodes in Russia, Cuala Lumpur, the moon and Planet X.

It was novel to hear that there's a Bitcoin mining virus for Mac that also apparently scans people's hard drives for child porn.

Presumably, whoever is in central command of the virus could poke around elsewhere on any computer found to have child porn, looking for files to identify the owner, and then blow the whistle on them.

If that gets popular, that might be way more effective at busting CP than anything that could be done to a server.
