It is because for them it is much easy to earn a profit in illegal way rather than working too hard just to earn legal...  For them it is too hard...  They didn't think that it is too unfair because we are all working here...  Hacking is everywhere that's why we need to be aware everyday...  We need to be careful and wise because if not our efforts and work will be go in vain...

this should be basic sense for people who understand how wallets work , but sadly most of airdrop users are people who are new to crypto in general and looking to make something to start with for free
hope that every site or telegram channel that spreads airdrops make this info pinned for new users in case these users wanted to join another airdrop that isn't listed by that source

This will not happen if people will just educate themselves and refrain from giving their private key to anyone even companies it's a big no-no here in cryptocurrency it's like handling everything you had, this is not paypal where you can still recover your funds with the help of the third party.

They are asking to sign a message for that address but i immediately leave that site because i know that there is something fishy on the site. Be careful everyone you will never know each hackers tactics to scam or hack people for their own benefits.

The other negative thing that mostly goes unnoticed, is how people willingly sacrifice their real identity, when they link their email address to their wallet. Once these hackers gets hold of the email address, they know a Crypto currency user is linked to that address and they can start to focus their attention on that specific user. <sending spoof links and malicious scripts to that email address>

People are willingly giving hackers a database of Crypto currency users, when they participate in these airdrops.  ::)

Yea, there are many hackers around us. We must be careful when we opened our online wallet because it can be a phishing website that we login into. Always check the security of the website, bookmark the original one because hackers always spread the phishing website to attend our private keys or password. Be careful guys.

It's nature of this filed. there may be hackers are everywhere. I feel like we must secure our wallets and private key to don't give anyone. sometime some airdrops and bounty program ask our private key when ask like that if we provide that key whether know or don't know. Our all coins and tokens will be missing as soon as possible. if you stay and work this filed you must keep your keys and secure world better place for store.

In cases where a website is always https, but one day it has an unencrypted connection error, which may be due to the following reasons:

The certificate has expired but the website has not been renewed.
Website changes the server intentionally, making the parameters on the certificate do not match.
Website is changed server is not targeted, may be hackers navigate or have taken control of the website.

The harsh and evil deeds of scammers has been rampaging the cryptocurrency atmosphere creating unbelievable and sad tales to victims. Just Last week, a friend of mine lost a wallet containing over $5k worth of tokens to the cold hands of scammers. He has been devastated the last few days. This is just one of the several cases out there. My advice is, try to be careful with the kinds of websites you put your wallet details into, double check if you are truly accessing the genuine site of your host wallet client. Try to move your valuable coins to a separate wallet and lock the wallet away. Only access it when need be. If you are trading on any DEX website, create a different wallet for such and only use that wallet for that particular purposes. Scammers could target anyone but we must try to limit our vulnerability.

Hackers are very rampant on online especially crypto is on trend now and that makes  it vulnerable by stealing coins without knowing it so just very vigilant about it. Always keep in mind that safekeeping your private key is always your responsibility and never give it to others. Mostly hackers used phishing method and they very used on Airdrops and Telegram bots asking private keys to claim earned tokens and mostly newbies always got victimized so just be safe and always check legit sites from URL above.

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are becoming known as game-changers in many different and unique ways, but security isn’t yet sufficient to ensure your coins remain safe. Decentralization is great, privacy is great, but in order to take advantage of these features you’ll definitely need to remember that it also means YOU are the only one who can protect your Bitcoin from hackers, thieves and other bad actors.
Here are some tips hackers use to still bitcoins
1.      Copy/Paste Spoofing – Because the hexadecimal addresses used by cryptocurrencies are nearly impossible to remember, and prone to errors when typing directly, most people use the copy/paste feature when sending Bitcoin or other coins to a wallet address. The problem is that hackers are known to use malware such as CryptoShuffler that acts to replace the address you copied with a different address. Avoiding the theft of your coins is simple if a bit time-consuming. You simply need to check every address to verify it is correct before sending your coins. Even better, use QR codes. And install and anti-malware program on your computer and run it regularly. You can get both Bitdefender and Malwarebytes for free. Finally, don’t ever download and install any app you’re not sure is safe.
2.      Fake Mobile Apps – The selection of apps in the Google Play and iTunes stores continues growing exponentially, and because these services are run by Google and Apple we tend to trust the apps by default. This is a mistake as hackers are now known to publish fake apps that steal user data under names that appear to be authentic. The most well known is the Poloniex hack which surfaced in October 2017.  Follow these steps to remain safe from this type of hack: Make sure the service you are using really offers a mobile app – if that is the case, the app should have a link on the service’s official website. Pay attention to app ratings and reviews. Be cautious of third party apps triggering alerts and windows appearing to be connected to Google – misusing users’ trust for Google is a popular trick among cybercriminals. Use 2FA for an additional (and often crucial) layer of security.
3.      Slack Bot Hacks – Slack is an online messaging system that has becoming increasingly popular in large organizations, especially in the technology space. One interesting feature of Slack is the use of bots, automated programs that can do a myriad of tasks including finding and organizing information and even ordering ice cream. Unfortunately hackers have taken to bots on Slack as well, and now there are bots that will warn you about a security breach on your wallet, directing you to a URL that then asks for your login information or private keys. Avoid these like the plague and report them if they contact you.
4.      Dangerous Browser Extensions – Efficiency is always a good thing, and there are browser extensions that promise to increase your efficiency on certain trading sites. The problem is that these browser extensions might also be reading and storing everything you type while using them. Find another way to be efficient and avoid the browser extensions to remain safe. In fact, avoid ANY browser extension related to cryptocurrencies. (there are some exceptions like Metamask for Chrome)
5.   Free Airdrops of Coins – An airdrop is a free distribution of coins that is used either to reward existing coin holders or to bring more users in to a coin in an effort to bootstrap the service behind the coin or token. On the surface it seems great because you’re getting something for nothing, and some airdropped coins have gone on to increase in value by 1000’s percent. Of course with the possibility of stealing personal information hackers have joined in to offer airdrops when there are none by directing you to a URL where they steal your personal information or private keys. Some require you to download a wallet specifically for the airdropped coins, and that wallet includes malware. Be very careful if you want to participate in airdrops and take everything with a huge degree of skepticism.

i hope this would help you a little bit.

Nowadays there are many people who don't have money to invest in bitcoin but they want to have it. So that some of them have a bad idea on how to get bitcoin and the idea that they have is to hack people who have bitcoin. They don't know who are the people who have bitcoin, therefore they make fake bitcoin wallet and the people who will use that wallet will get their crypto currency or bitcoin. Be wise in choosing your digital wallet, and don't open your digital wallet in websites or browser.

Airdrop has been a source of so much concern to bounty hunters. Some are scams while others if when they pay will not worth more than 5$ which is not worth the gas needed to withdraw it. Then it has been another hacking method which accounts are being compromised. They will send a phishing email of which once you click the link your  private key is gone with them and your account is naked to them. the best is to avoid airdrops totally.

Some bounty requires its participants to "deposit" certain amount of ETH to be able to withdraw their rewards. And you as participants wanted to get your reward and clicked that link and requires you to enter your private key". And there are a lot of gullible people who can easily fall for this trapped. Just your your common sense, don't send anyone your private key simple as that.

People click mindlessly on all links without even wondering where they come from. By greediness, they register for crap and nothing worth airdrop, where the profit is pitifully low. Then they complain that they were robbed. It's enough to follow the basic security rules often described on the forum to avoid robbing by hackers.

Rule number one, which covers all the ground rules to avoid hackers are to never disclose any personal information while dealing in crypto. No matter what, if any identification number such as the wallet's ID is asked, just avoid it. For example some airdrops provide link to your wallets. do not proceed further with these.

many hackers prey hugely on the ignorance of many participants especially those who are new to the space, I have seen a lot of unsolicited emails masking as legitimate airdrops, they only problem is that they are either malicious links or they are requesting for my private keys

Title: Re: Beware of HACKERS!
Post by: Uyiosarugue1 on September 02, 2018, 08:35:27 PM

This was very common at some point untill people became wiser for it, they called them "self-airdrops" which often turn out to be some shitty coins, it even occur in bounties where they ask you to send gas fee. Cibus network is an example, I am still waiting for my tokens even after doing kyc and sending the gas fees

Can't avoid these people have nothing heart stealing of investment from the people working very hard to earn in the fair ways
We need to be careful because have many people in use their talent for the bad ways

I know a lot of new users think it's really easy to get hacked and lose their cryptocurrency.  But if you follow simple security tips your funds will be safe.

-Never keep a large amount of coins on an exchange

-Send transactions through an airgapped computer or use a hardware wallet so your key is completely protected from the internet

-Always have backups! You never know when a flash drive or computer will fail

-Make sure to have a back up plan to transfer your crypto in case of death

In most cases, hackers break open exchanges and exchangers. If we take privately for us investors and users need to follow certain rules. When exchanging, it is necessary to type sites (original) correctly, and not to visit various sites where the virus can get.

Not enter your private of your wallet in any wrong website or anywhere if any hacker find out your private key or password then you will do nothing and they fly with your coins or in other wards fly with your investment and you can do nothing because you can do nothing.

This is not a matter of a person’s mind but of inattention and a desire to quickly receive an award. Mostly, hacking wallets occur when people lose their vigilance and go over dubious links or don't look attentively at the address of the site or the sender of the email. It is better not to click on the links in the emails at all unless you are 100% sure who sent it to you.

This is what we should be aware of HACKERS!

Often times we are bothered by Hackers, even though there is no law regarding theft on bitcoin, at least we can keep bitcoin safer and use 2FA to be safer and not use our personal emails that others can see, if you already do it all does not mean you will be safe from Hackers attacks, but you can be more careful about the fising link or a private message on an email or link link that can record your passwod ...

We need more information regarding clicking links that could lead to ones private keys, data and other information that could lead to being hacked.

It is important to avoid:
1. duplicating passwords, that is, using the same password in different platfroms,
2. not properly hiding your private keys
3. clicking on phishing sites
4. using simple passwords
6. etc.

There are millions of hackers who are in a position to do everything in our lives, and there are a lot of hacker teams and unions that have to be able to keep our passwords protected. This is why hacker teams must take our measure if we need to write software or we should write our password until we forget ourselves even if you have an account by a hacker, maybe you can lose trillions.

This means that your system is very less protected and you are visiting lot of phishing sites due to which your computer is getting hacked lot of time.

Why dont you one time delete all partition in your hard disk and reconstruct new one and install a fresh operating system and stop visiting all phishing sites so that you wont get hacked

I never visit phishing sites and i dont keep my wallets in the desktop which i use for regular purpose. This way i can keep safe of my wallets from getting hacked.

Do not easily believe in the lure of high value, never use a private key to open sites that you do not know, Keep your Main Email that you use registration exchanges in which there are lots of your assets. I hope we all avoid hackers who are not responsible.

playing with the internet, hackers are one thing that makes us lose, he is a thief who wants to get money easily. one of the avoidance of hackers in crypto is, do not store our assets in 1 wallet, for example save on myetherwallet, if you have a lot of coins that are quite expensive and in large quantities, can be divided into several wallets, so hackers are not interested in stealing our assets.

Hackers are a real problem. One time I was given a tasked to trace a hacker. The owner's wallet was probably hacked using fake or phishing  sites. It was probably the most easy method where they could access accounts. I noticed that upon tracing I learned that several accounts were also hacked and many reported being so sad about the loss of several thousands of various coins. The tracIng I did went on to find facebook accounts, telegram and bitcointalk accounts. Too many which I guess was made to cover the real hacker. I think this is not just a work of an individual as it seems they are a group. Being in a group they would be so destructive. So really use your computers safely and better do an offline transaction to make a very safety processing of transactions on your wallet accounts.

Bounty hunters should not reach to fill airdrop forms.

Most bitcoin storage vaults have ultra-high levels of security through multiple layers or features that allow users to print their wallets themselves for safekeeping. However, you absolutely must not disclose your wallet information to anyone, because if they have login information on your wallet, they can make a transaction and steal the entire number of bitcoin in your wallet. Many people with no knowledge, not enough knowledge can easily lead to fraud.

Just keep in mind that no amount of security is too much. You worked hard for your money and investments, so take as much precaution you need to ensure security.
Make your passwords accessible to only yourself. The safest wallet in my opinion, is a locally hosted one on your own hardware (on a password-protected computer). And never talk about your transactions on social media. Sounds like a lot of hard work, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

There are many hackers around us. We must be careful when we opened our online wallet because it can be a phishing website that we login into. Always check the security of the website, bookmark the original one because hackers always spread the phishing website to attend our private keys or password. Be careful guys.

The security issue for us in the crypto market is a very difficult one. I feel that just opening up a new path can be hackers attack and steal information. Even if you trade on ineffective exchanges, it's easy to leave undue consequences. No matter how i follow the security layer 2 lock still more secure.

I still can't understand people who follow links from e-mail and send their private keys to unknown places. I personally know a man who has three times asked the managers of the bounty of the companies to change purses, because the old one was stolen. The private key is the kind of thing that needs to be hidden is safer than a pin code of the credit card. But every time they step on the same rake.

many ways that hackers do to steal and make money easily. as you explained, I've also experienced this, I registered airdrop, and the web bring me to a fake myetherwallet link, which requires me to enter a private key, because I realize that if it's scam and dangerous, I immediately cancel the airdrop.
for the Hunter airdrop must beware, check the website airdrop before join.

Hackers always observe and look for opportunities to steal the bitcoin we have, they will use various ways to trap us in their traps. So we should always be vigilant and do not get caught in the trap of hackers which can ultimately harm us. Do not carelessly provide passwords for the bitcoin wallets that we have, and carefully look at the various sites that we will follow, because it might be a fake site created by hackers to trap us so they can know the password of the bitcoin wallet we have.

This happens in following situations:

1) You are ignorant of the importance of keys.

2) You know the value of keys but were asked about it at a time when you were busy with some other work. In such a situation the mind gets confused and you might end up giving crucial details.

At the same time, I am sure that this is not even 1/4 of the protection of my wallet ...For 2 months my friend was hacked by 2 eth wallet. Regarding the first case, she suggested that she could get on a phishing site. But the second address of the wallet did not show anywhere, except for Google-form bounty. Now I understand that even for bounty hunters to have a wallet on the website MEW - this is not enough.

Because of the huge amount of money in crypto, hackers and scammers are working tirelessly every time to steal from crypto users and investors. Remember, crypto is decentralized hence the total security of tokens lies largely in the care of the wallet holder. It is therefore very necessary to treat login details meticulously in order to avoid being phished, hacked or scammed.

I prefer a wallet that has secure backup, the back up should be encrypted to avoid hacker on having access of the account. This will allow the user to restore a wallet without having to type in your seed – the password will be enough, and the QR code of the seed doesn’t even need to be displayed on the screen of your device. This can provide defense against malicious software trying to capture the screen of your computer or smartphone. Wallet such as HODLER possess this feature and it really an effective way to keep from any act of hackers.

For me,it's best to write your private key and any valuable information regarding to your wallet in a very safe place, also not to input your password in any Google form and above all just be careful while online. Hackers are always smart using their IQ. Let your crypto information be known only to yourself.

this should be basic sense for people who understand how wallets work , but sadly most of airdrop users are people who are new to crypto in general and looking to make something to start with for free
hope that every site or telegram channel that spreads airdrops make this info pinned for new users in case these users wanted to join another airdrop that isn't listed by that source

Exactly newbies rush towards airdrops in order to earn and get scammed and whine about crypto is useless or something. There are numerous post on scams almost everyday someone post's about it. It's better to get some knowledge first and then try airdrops.

All these lazy hacker,  I wonder why they can't use their smartness to achieve something better in a legit way rather than stealing
Actually they are not lazy because they are doing well in hacking or scamming other users. They are very motivated to do it because their efforts will be paid depending on the portfolios they will get after hacking. These hackers nowadays are doing their best and probably now they are taking much from other users. So they are not lazy instead they are really hard working to hack other user's portfolio.

it is just common sense for all of us here. We know that because of anonymity feature many are encourage to scam others. Just take the altcoins and bounties sections. There are many fraud and scam projects there. Just include also some hackers that will let you join a group and download a link or a malware that will lead them to hack your accounts.
