BAKD is an online crowdfunding community for cryptocurrency projects. Entrepreneurs who work a full time job already (or maybe not!) can list vetted, or non-vetted instant campaigns. Applying to be, and getting vetted prior to starting a campaign gives projects an instant level of credibility that anonymous, non vetted projects will not have. Whether a campaign is pre-vetted or not, all campaigns are given access to a personal dashboard as well as access to the BAKD community, allowing them to find BAK'ers, mentors, advisors, or other developers for said project -- all under one roof.

Project owners need to setup their disbursement schedules before ever starting their campaigns. These disbursements will be handled automatically by the BAKD Platform's Disbursement System, never needing any human intervention. This is key to avoid having developers and project owners end up with massive, multi-million dollar lump sums, and zero initiative left to continue on building what they set out for, in turn fostering motivation and innovation. Various contests between project owners will also foster a sense of competition between projects, hopefully intensifying the innovation and motivation.

This allows someone who isn't 100% sure they are ready to leave their current day job (like myself), a way to test the water and see if they can't reach their goal of 1, 2, 3, 6, or 12 months of runway time to get a functioning beta out the door.

All of this will be made possible using the BAKD Coin. This will give investors the ability to participate in BAKD campaigns, and it will be the currency in which all disbursements are made to project owners during the life of their BAKD campaign. Disbursements will ONLY continue on if pre-defined milestones are met.

If a project begins to lose traction, developers drop off, or the project turns out to just be a plain old scam -- whatever investor funds are left that have not been disbursed WILL BE RETURNED!

Project owners will NOT have access to the entire sum of invested funds, at ANY time, until the project has reached its final pre-defined milestone. Disbursements can be made on a weekly or monthly basis, but as noted, always in pre-defined amounts. Project milestones will need to continue to be met in order for the disbursements to continue or the platform will automatically discontinue disbursements and enter the project into a "danger zone." If the project owners do not rectify the situation fast enough the campaign is terminated, and the remaining investor funds are returned.

Votes may be called by the projects BAK'ers at any time to rescind all remaining funds for any reason. On the flip side of this, project owners may call a vote to increase their monthly/weekly disbursements, or to request lump sums for specific unexpected costs.

Absolutely. However, we don't plan to worry about where quite yet.

Main concern right this second is finalizing the whitepaper, roadmap, etc. Next would be finishing an alpha and testnet.

But, don't get me wrong, we do plan to try and get listed at as many exchanges as possible when the time is right.

We've had a handful of people ask about if, when, and where we've listed our project -- as far as ICOs go.

Just to be clear, at this point in time, there are no plans to have an ICO for BAKD.

We feel that having an ICO for BAKD would be hypocritical, seeing that we're building our platform based on the fact that we believe the ICO model is flawed.

Opportunities will still exist for early stage investors interested in becoming a part of BAKD -- just not in the form of an ICO.

Who knows. Maybe we'll run the first BAKD campaign for BAKD itself once we finish the alpha, as a proof of concept.

We're still ironing out details, so if you have any thoughts and want to have a hand in shaping the future of BAKD, join the conversation!

Also just fyi... the bakd.io branding and actual landing page is on its way. Try your best not to judge us by the horrendous one currently up. It's merely a (very short-term) placeholder.

We understand 100% how important the branding is and will be. in my experience, people tend to literally be afraid of poorly designed sites, as if they'll get a virus just from looking at it :)

Quick update on the logo contest... after 3 days and 170+ entries, we finally have a winner -- hope you guys like it!

We're also in the process of bringing at least 2, possibly 3+ of the designers who entered the contest on board. Some part time, others full time. Pretty exciting.

Current project priorities for today are:

- Finish interviewing and bringing designers onboard
- Finish and release the first version of the roadmap
- Finish and release the first version of the onepager
- Finish and release the feature list for the main application, the social networking application, and the token itself

General priorities for the next few days:

- Finish all paperwork (most importantly the whitepaper)
- Finish all website landers
- Fully spec out all proposed applications/systems
- Onboard at least 1-2 (preferably several) more developers for the main application, networking application, and token
- Onboard at least 1 legal advisor
- Onboard at least 1 crypto/blockchain advisor
- Onboard a project manager who can deal with interviewing, paperwork, and general business tasks that I would much rather delegate.
- Start to onboard at minimum 5-10 well known, respected mentors for the alpha launch

Tons more to do, but this is a quick look into the current progress and next steps for BAKD.

Interviewing new team members ran a bit longer than I had hoped yesterday, but still managed to get the text versions of the roadmap and one pager complete.

Graphic versions are being finalized now, and we'll be releasing them shortly.

(Also fyi, we have zero affiliation with Bakkt, nor have we ever claimed to. Aside from the similar names -- which itself is just a coincidence -- completely different ideas and platforms.)

Hey there. At what date does the ICO of this platform start?

Hi Kevala,

At this point, I'm doing everything possible to try and avoid an ICO. Researching other avenues of funding, considering running BAKD as the first actual BAKD crowdfunding campaign when I get the alpha running, or even just continuing my daytime programming job until we launch.

If I can't continue to fund things on my own, or find a small investment -- a small pre-sale or ICO may be unavoidable. Who knows, we'll see.

Quick update on future document releases... Docs will no long contain version info in the filename itself.

Only the document type, and the language it is written in.

Version info, as well as last edit dates will be added to the front page of each official BAKD document.

Side Note:

After discussing potential marketing deals with various members of the forum, it's pretty clear that we're going to need to do some kind of small pre-sale to gather enough funds for the first 2-3 months of runway. Most would like a small amount of BTC upfront to get started, along with equity, which is understandable. But just not feasible at this point in time, especially with me covering the cost of development for the foreseeable future.

Sorry for the lack of updates today, wasnt feeling well.

Wanted to clarify one thing that has been asked by new teammates.

I'm based in the US, the company itself will not be. For obvious legal reasons.

Quick update, contracts are officially signed with Suyoga and Franklin, and soon we'll be announcing who will be taking over as CEO so I can focus on development. I'll be moving to the role of CTO.

Hoping to have the new landing pages done by the end of today, along with the updated docs.

The landing page and infographic designs are coming along beautifully, can't wait to release them. The designers were so eager to get going that they started early, over the weekend.

Side note, have been working with our new CEO to nail down the initial protocol and app specs so we can release them ASAP for you guys, not much longer.

Updated website lander is live  (bakd.io), still optimizing and tweaking a few things -- but far better than the original one. Nothing fancy, just a landing page. Most of our effort from this point forward will be going into the docs, features, specs, and the alpha.

I'm giving the infographics one last text/copy update quickly right now, and then those will be deployed as well (if I don't fall asleep at my desk that is, getting late).

I think this is a very successful project with strategic BAKD.io disrupts funding strategy old electronic money, ICO, by giving control back to the investors. I hope people will welcome the positive projects and register to join the project soon.

Just another quick update...

Since BAKD.me is where the main application is going to 'live' -- the plan is now to leave it live from start to finish. You are all free to check out and follow along with the progress live, directly on the site itself (Although, not much to look at just yet, but check back often! The authentication system is mostly there, and registered users will not be getting deleted -- so if you want to reserve your username, best to do it now).

By all means, PLEASE free to throw out any ideas or feature requests that you may have now -- we're building this for YOU guys, and we want it to be something you really feel as though you were a part of the process.

For a "worthy" alpha, we were thinking that at minimum we would need the following features to be (mostly) functional:
- Basic version of the overall theme/layout
- Basic static pages (contact, privacy policy, terms & conditions, help, etc)
- All of the basic authentication pages - including social auth
         - Possibly 2FA
- The real time 'sentiment wall'
         - This is the social aspect of the site, which would be tied in to active, past, and future campaigns -- among other things
- The searchable directory for professionals and projects/campaigns
- The company & member profile pages plus the vanity url subdomain system
- A handful of mock campaigns and a functioning campaign owner admin dashboard with mock disbursement mechanism
- Mock investments, mock investment dashboard panel with transaction history, privacy settings, etc.
- Most likely much, MUCH more will be available

Only on day ~30, and originally I started this (and announced) alone. The team has grown exponentially since then. Even still, I'm a developer with 10+ years experience, I plan to take this project to the finish line regardless of how big our team gets, or how much funding we may or may not get.

We're in the process of bringing an extremely talented, experienced PM on board to help whip things into shape, literally finalizing signatures and contracts now.

As far as current investments, we have none other than our time and personal money invested so far (Thats how much we believe in this project). Everything is, has been, and will continue to be funded by myself and Matt until further notice.

The pre-mine info will be up today most likely, along with allocation and further breakdowns.

This will not be your typical pump, dump and jump ICO-only type project.

We're in this for the long haul.

I do agree however, more team info -- including pictures, bio's, and social media accounts -- are being added ASAP.

Web App & Network Protocol Development News
We have some new features being deployed this weekend for the web app alpha/proof of concept. So be on the lookout for that.

The ROIcoin codebase rebrand and testnet setup is going well, and should be live within the next 2 weeks at most. From there, new features will begin to be added, on our way towards the mainnet release.

Bug bounties, etc will be setup along the way to ensure all is safe and secure.
