Title: Mining with Non-Admin Rights
Post by: bnshrdr on October 27, 2011, 04:06:46 AM
I have recently dabbled in mining and find it very interesting.  In fact, I will try to write a proof-of-concept mining application just because I enjoy that kind of thing, but that is beside the point.

I frequently have access to many PCs at my university that I would like to utilize for mining.  They all have decent video cards, however OpenCL isn't installed onto any of the machines.  I don't have administrative rights to these machines so I can't install OpenCL.  This means I can only do CPU mining .... bleh.

Is there a way to utilize the GPU even though I only have user rights?  I suspect not but I figure I would ask here to see if anyone has any type of experience with this sort of thing.

Thanks!

What you want to do is illegal. Ask for permission, you probably won't get it but who knows.

The university admins have all the services locked up.  It is near impossible to do any such mining.  Not worth the risk, they may take away your access rights if you do that.
