Back in January 2018, at the peak of his power, just before the bubble burst, Bitcoin was at an all-time high $20 000.

With the latest dip and bear market in 2018. things are pretty boring.


In your opinion, when do you think that bulls are going to be ready to play again?
When is it expected for Bitcoin to hit $20 000 again?

We can't tell for sure when this is going to happen for now. Many experts have speculated that it will hit $25,000 by year ending. I definitely think if ETF is approved this ATH could come sooner than expected.

My guess is that it will be a few more years before it gets back to $20,000.

The current price is $6,300...that's 31.5% of $20,000. Which means that when demand is 3.17 times what it is today, with supply nearly the same, the price will return to $20,000.

I wouldn't expect that kind of growth to happen this year.

I'm still optimistic to bitcoin that still it has a guts to surpass ATH this year. well, bitcoin not play, hodlers and traders does. The most important thing is get ready for what soon to happen  ;)

I think when the supply decrease and demand increase price of bitcoin will automatically increase.Its a volatile crypto currencies  and we have to wait until its demand increase.

the bitcoin was having a problem now. so many of the user and investor was planning to hold and the other planning to quit in this industry because they think that this industry would not rise anymore. one of my friend told me that she planned to quit in this industry because the loss of her money was big.

I would say 3 years from now.
The goal for this year would be somewhere above 8000. And then for next year 2019, we should aim for ~15k.
Lastly 2020 we can probably go to 20k. Which is a really hard mission.

I don't know for sure(as no one knows anyway), but probably years from now. Why? Bitcoin rose in price in late December last year because of the hype. Now, pretty much a good percentage of the people worldwide has already heard of bitcoin one way or another. The same kind of hype is not going to get us to increases that high, now, I think adoption is what's going to get us to prices that high.

No one can predict BTC price anymore. if any one claims that they can predict, they are telling lie.

All experts failed to predict this such a low price of $6k from $20k. Every one expected a correction but not such a drastic fall. All those expert people predicted that Bull run will come in summer and nothing happened. Every time they mention about BULL run, BTC price drops even further!

BTC is not giving any dammn to any predictions, it will doing it's own thing.  To your question, we may have to wait till next halving which is 2020 to see a $20k again unfortunately...

Every one is talking about, but it won't do any good at all. it's same as Bitcoin future, people were so hyped for it, But what it did was crashed the BTC market. BTC future destroyed the whole btcc market. I think ETF will do the same....   So basically we HOLDER will have to wait very long time. IF ETF is approved there will be a little price increase, then all the new hodler will sell with little profit and quite the market. At that time BTC price will fall again.  If ETF is denied, BTC will crash again for no reason...  so either way we BTC hodler are doomed for a while... ??? ???

Previous value is over know so we should expect future value. The current market not stable so we don't predict the future value of Bitcoin. My prediction it will cross the 20k USD in next year because ETF is not success in crypto so still many peoples are stay away in the market. All the peoples are waiting for the future hype so we must wait and see the future results.

When compared to last year market this year it should be $30k. But now it's struggling to show it's range. It's quite complicated to predict anything here. But still investors hold yourself and have patience, it still believe It will bounce back in the last quarter like it did last year. My suggestion it will few months as per the situation.

I think that the price of bitcoin will reach this level not earlier than in 6 months. Bitcoin should accumulate and accept the support of the bullish trend, and it will take time, but still bitcoin has a very good technology and idea. It will not be constantly in a downward movement.

Boring? This clearly shows that you are here for the wrong reasons. This also clearly shows that you can't benefit from a market in decline. In other words, you are out to book easy profits on the way up due to hype pumps. Just take a long break and come back somewhere in November to see if the market changed its sentiment, or start using Bitcoin as money right away (best option).

The more you use Bitcoin, the less you get bothered by how "boring" current market is. Usage is your only savior with how we won't be seeing anything close to $20,000 for a longer period of time.

Hodlers doomed? Not sure what your definition of a hodler is, but it's highly flawed. The only people suffering right now are get rich quick noobs.

I think that anything can happen this year in bitcoin it can possibly reach 20k usd this year but the percentage of it is small. Maybe next year it can hit about 20k or more we really don't know what's going to happen. All we can do now is hodl out btcs and hope that it will be going up this upcoming christmas.

It could be years before we return to that high, but crypto currency does move really fast, so it could be sooner.  I think greater effort should be made to bring shoppers to crypto.  My dogecoins rose a few times, and I sold them and bought things with the money.   

At least 2 years, from now until the end of 2018 I think the price will go down 5000$ and side way up to mid-2019. Then the market will recover gradually and if possible early in 2020 we will see the bitcoin price above 20000$

I also expected for bitcoin to make a bull run next year, This year will be bearish and considered to be a slow pace in the movement of bitcoin, Well a lot on the Crypto market will be on the same movement as bitcoin so nothing will be great at the time being, But in my opinion the price right now is considerably better than in the past value bitcoin have, And like what you have said we need to have the patient to wait and be on guard when that time comes!

my speculation bitcoin will hit 20.000$ in the middle of 2019 or sooner. The price is pretty stable right now and people are getting to know about bitcoin. Soon or later, the one who invests more is the one who gets more.

In my opinion the previous pump was unnatural and was not according to the investment cap, that’s why it collapsed. Now the price is according to the investment ratio and is on the track and will increase with the passage of time. Nobody is sure about the time because of the volatility in the price and market manipulation. But the last believe is that it will cross the limit of $20k.

Consider that this year is going to be the year for the bear but we can't also deny that the next years will come for the bull to get in.

Don't expect bitcoin to jump to 20k in the near future, because the market can't make it happen. The market is very bad and requires a lot of time for recovery, it might take 2 years to get back to stability.

Wild guess, it would be near the next halving. There will be another hype that the price will jump because of the halving, just like what happened last time.

I think this process will take lot of time because the price of Bitcoin is very low and the demand of Bitcoin is also not rising from a very long time now.In 2017 it had almost hit $20,000 and had created new record.So we can say that it has the capability and potential to reach up to this mark and even higher.We should not underestimate Bitcoin.Bitcoin is the father of all the cryptocurrencies and is the most expensive and valuable one.It has the largest number of users in the market.

Well I don't want to expect to much because I don't hurt myself because of always expecting much better to go in the flow of the market instead of expecting anything. But I believe that bitcoin will be hit a highest again just believe and be patience.

This is really hard to expect price to cross at a peak price. Expect it will takes time to hit $20k with no good news occur in the market to uplift the value. So by holding and wait for the time to increase I can sense we can gains good profit.

The price of bitcoin is very down from a very long time now and it is unable to recover.The investors too are suffering from losses from a very long time now.People are selling their bitcoins at lower prices only which is leading to the fall in price.Bitcoin is also getting banned in many nations due to its volatile nature and it is also very risky as it can also get hacked.Bitcoin can be said a bubble of all the times.People are using fiat currency only.

There are some chance in late Feb 2019 if SEC will approve btc ETf if not we will have to wait until halving

I do not know if that could happen again in this unpredictable market, because you have to take into account various factors that play against that possibility.

a) the issue of bitcoin and cryptocurrency is no longer a novelty, speculators have already learned on the fly about the pros and cons of this market and will be much more cautious before being carried away again by a new speculative wave.

b) the time factor can also play against bitcoin, since the possibility of new technologies evolving to solve the problems that bitcoin has not been able to, increase as time passes.

c) the forecasts of important leaders in cryptospace (like Vitalik Buterin) seem to warn that possibly the market has reached its maximum speculative level and we should no longer expect a new bull run in the future, so we could expect a very stable market in the next few years, although with bearish prospects for many.

Therefore, I very much doubt that bitcoin could reach $20,000 soon, and if that happens, I do not think it will take less than 2 years.

Honestly I not  sure if bitcoin can reach 20k again but I still hope bitcoin can repeat its history. I expect bitcoin reach 20k again in the next year because in my opinion it not possible to happen in this year. We can only speculate without knowing what will happen in the future but I know time will proof.

With the current market situations right now, possibly the price hits at $20k by December and if there's a huge demand that could arise we'll able to see it by October or November. That's only an opinion, but hopefully this can turn to reality in the next few months to go. We've been always there to the struggling time, and let the rewards begin in sooner time.

No one can say exactly one date. In my opinion i expect Bitcoin reach again 20000$ this year but only if ETF is approved. The best we can do is wait and hold bitcoin until we think it grow or when we need cash, or we just can trade and get more until price grow.

I think it will take long time because the gap is big and to cover this gap bitcoin will have long way to go. Nobody tells the exact time when will the price reach to $20k, but it is clear that in the future the price will grow more and investors will make huge profits against their investment in bitcoin. Now the price is increasing normally and it is the reason that it will take long time.

You must know that the value of bitcoin cannot predict exactly, and I know that the value of bitcoin will always rise every year, I better trade now to benefit from the crypto currency

I expect bitcoin to hit $20k level again, maybe in the 2nd quarter of 2019.
We have experience dumps this year, and maybe that is already enough for us to gain momentum to go higher next year. Hopefully more investors will come, even if the news is not in favor with cryptocurrency. There is still a chance for bitcoin to hit $10k this year, let's keep our hope with us.

Honestly no one can predict the status of the market these days. Sometimes pumps and dump it's quite unpredictable, yes there is lot of hope that the value of Bitcoin will hit again atleast till 15k. Lets believe in this.

Exactly the price of bitcoin increases each year and in September 2017 the bitcoin price reaches 3500$ and now the bitcoin price is 6700$ higher than that of 2017. So target 20000$ is really easy if the bull market started and it will quickly create a new record

Yeah I agree with you, there are no chances for bitcoin to jump to $20k in the near future. Now there are no huge bumps in the price and the reason is that people are not so interested as they were in the last year. Due to low investment cap and low demand the price will not grow fast and $20k is a big price for bitcoin. Due to the current situation of the market it is clear that it will take long time to hit this level.

Yes, there is that possibility that bitcoin would rise at the end of the year just like what happen last year. Bitcoin always surprises us when it comes to its price increase. We know that when there is a hype, an increase of 2x or 3x is achievable in just a week but I hope that bitcoin would have an organic growth and not just a temporary hype because when that happens, the drop is fatal. If there is a regular small fluctuation but the trend is up then it would be better.

Why are you all so obsessed with price of 20000$? Don't live in past, that was at the end of the last year but currently we have different situation on the market and at the moment it's not very likely that this year Bitcoin will reach 20000$.
But instead of waiting for your "magic" price get focused on current situation and what could you get best to use all possible opportunities and make profit.

Well, that depends on how near the future you are talking about is like and for what it is worth, no one can really tell what becomes of bitcoin even in the next few seconds, so, the best answer to always give to situations like this is that at its own time, bitcoin would hit $20,000 and surpass it in the long run, as that is one thing I believe would happen eventually at some point as long as development and adoption keeps increasing.

The value may rise at the end of the year, but does not mean it would be able to have enough power to go test the previous ATH. It is, I am sure bitcoin may still want to try out the bottom over again and then see how it is possible to break it lower but there could be some sideways movement or some upward movement before then and that in its own should be something to expect, but not like an exact price should be expected as no one can certainly know.

What I hope for this year is that bitcoin can reach 20k, but I don't really expect it because it seems difficult with the current market turmoil. No one can be sure and cannot be ascertained that the 20k price will be realized in the near term.

To provide a positive and encouraging thought here, I would like that bitcoin price to hit $20K next month in October we can really witness the bull run to come and see our dreamed price since January. This was a long term struggle with a dedication to fulfill, because most of the dreams were hanged over now and people were really sacrificing their time over it and waited bitcoin to be a better asset that's worth it for.

The actual thing is technical and fundamental analysis of the market. These analyses will tell you the right position of the coming future. Without proper analysis, I think it is not possible for anybody to predict the future price. I can only say that it will take long time but one day it will definitely reach to $20k. Hope that 2019 will be better for bitcoin but is not guaranteed.

In my opinion, this year will not be going to hit that $20k again, why? because a lot of big investors already lose their trust to bitcoin because of scammers, because a lot of scammers last year use bitcoin that is why bitcoin price make ATH's last year because of multiple big investors put their money in and we all don't know that it is just a strategy of those scammers, after they already get profited scammers withdraw or encash all their profit and just also get all the investments of those multiple investors, so a lot of investors already lose their trust with bitcoin.

I personally pessimistic about how long it will hit the top since this year seems to be the worst.

All indicators point to Bitcoin being on the verge of a turnaround. Volatility has bottomed, as the price has settled just above the bottom of ~$6000 that the market has been establishing all year long, after months of bouncing around between the bottom and lower highs. I expect October and November to be the turnaround period so that by the end of the year we'll solidly be at the start of the next bull run. I expect most of 2019 will be steady growth, like 2016 before things started going crazy in Spring of 2017. So I think it'll hit $20k around the end of 2019. Within a few months of it passing $20k (the ATH) that is when it'll probably really start booming again and I could see something around $100k at the peak of the next boom in 2020.

It took about 4 years to recover from gox.

The peak was at 2017.8 so about 2018
So if we follow the same road 2018+4 2022.


The reason why it may happen faster is because this halving is going to be more significant.

It takes us from inflation that about matches the dollar to inflation that is lower than that. So bitcoin is truly starting to become scarce.

It won't happen this year, nor 2019.

I think nothing before summer '20. This downtrend has not finished yet, then we need some consolidation and slowly uptrend to get levels $10k -> $13k -> $15k... etc.

I have some gripes with your post.

First of all, as you say, it took a lot of time to recover from MtGox. There is no event like MtGox this time, so why would you say it would take as long? If anything that shows it will take less time.
Also it took three years to hit $1000 again. Peak in 2013 was early December, Jan 1 2017 it hit $1000 again, I think it took until beginning of March to actually beat the previous ATH so at most you could say 3 years and 3 months. And since there was no MtGox to recover from this time it's more likely it'll take around 2 years instead of 3 years this time. Another reason why it will take less time this time around is there is soooooo much more interest in Bitcoin now from sectors of the economy who had never even heard of it in 2017 and are still trying to figure out the right time to get in (note: it's now!).

So 2 years is a better estimate based on all the known factors, rather than 4 years. Basically late 2019 or early 2020 leading into the halving year we should expect it to pass $20k and then the hype and FOMO machine will start all over again but this time Wall St will be piling in both retail and institutional investors.
Last bull market went up 100x from $200 to $20k, I could see the next one over the next 2+ years going up 20x from the $6k bottom to $120k possibly. And $20k will just be a stepping stone sometime in the next 12-18 months.

To be fair, it is very likely the downtrend has indeed finished. All signs point to it being finished and Bitcoin currently being in the beginning of its consolidation period in which it starts its turnaround. Look for the slow uptrend to begin before the end of the year. 2019 will be the slow uptrend back to $20k, 2020 will be the next boom.

I think this year is not possible to reach this value, beacusr only three more months to go for this year still the value is in downtrend only. Maybe there is a chance to happen next year. What we want to do is buy more coins at low price now and hold it with patience. Once the valureach high level then you can sell or if you want you can hold.

I agree, since the value of some popular coins are now at low, it's probably the time to make some investment but we should be more wise because we don't know what to could be the result of thisbl fluctuation. What we should do is to keep support with the technology because this will definitely boom not this time but sooner.

I think if it's not now the bull run for this year maybe 2019 is great year for bitcoin to start to rise. Even though that the market is so volatile because of bearish market in still believe that we can't stay in a bearish market and bull run will coming soon.

Finished and entirely spent could take a long time.   Certainly we can say the rate of change has slowed quite alot.   to the point BTC has held quite a stable range for months, it might move more over the next six months but I'm not sure I expect an actual reliable uptrend in 2019

In my opinion it is not possible in this year but hope that the coming year will be good for bitcoin price. We will see growth in the price in the next year. I cannot say when will the price hit $20k, but I am hopeful that one day it will happen. Time is not a matter, but we are serious about the use of bitcoin in the future. We want to see bitcoin successful and it possible only people use it.

I believe that the possibility of BTC price to reach at $20k is nearly impossible with the current market situation. Last year, the hype started before the fourth quarter of the year. 2018's Q4 is nearly starting but there are no signs of the bulls yet. Maybe it is all part of their strategy to give the illusion that all hope is gone. Who knows?

Exactly, impossibe at current stage. Market is behaving totaly different compared to same period of the last year and I don't think that Bitcoin will reach 20000$ again this year.
All predictions saying it will are more wishful thinking than some real possibility.
For a longer period of time Bitcoin price is staying around 6000$ and 7000$ and I don't think it will move much further from this by the end of this year. Maybe up to 8000$.

my hope is that the price of bitcoin will rise as soon as possible, don't worry about it for a long time, people hope ... because there are different people who save because there are advantages there are also people who save because they want to earn more. so I prayed the price of bitcoin as soon as possible, so people can smile.

Honestly I am not looking at $20000 for a bitcoin anymore because next time there will be new all time high price for the bitcoin but it may takes time because the recovery needs to be much healthier if we want the prices to stay at that level forever but hopefully we will reach tat in 2019 at most.

If we are lucky it is possible that we could see those prices at the end of 2019, but the most likely scenario is that we are not going to see that price until 2020, I know this is not something that many people want to hear because this means that at least you will have to hold your coins for one more year but that is the way I see it and am preparing for that scenario.

I think that bitcoin will reach to $20000 till the end of the year 2019. In this year there is no chance for growth in the price and I don’t think that it will reach to $10000 till the end of this year. Everyone is asking about the future price but nobody asks how many people will invest in bitcoin till the end of this year? When you put your money, the price will go up.

It is difficult to predict bitcoin prices reaching 20k, maybe at the end of this year, it could be in 2019 and Bakhan can only happen in 2020. I think conditions are very bad and difficult for mass adoption to occur, and that will make bitcoin difficult to achieve price of 20k.

I still believe bitcoin is really become again 20k dollars. Before I expect the price become 20k dollars in the month of october but maybe it will not happen in that month but maybe the month for now to reach that price is november or december will happen again like last yeat 2017.

The previous bump in the price was totally unnatural and not according to the market cap. In this time there is nothing like that. Now the price is normal and we want normal growth according to the market cap. I strongly believe that the price will increase with the passage of time. I want no big bump in the price so that many people jump in and buy as much as they can and suddenly down to the ground again.

  Indeed, $20k is hard to reach at this moment of bearish scenario. Maybe at the end of this month bull run will start to overcome the consciousness of the market. As of now, we have to take the opportunity to buy more coins while its on dip. And I think many of us expect this high peak before this year end as well the consistent market in the world of crypto.

I believe that bulls start run soon, maybe in this year he will not be strong and he will certainly not reach the peak og the last year, but I think he should achieve at least 12000$ line, which would also be very good, since the price is almost doubled from the current one. But if we are talking about when Bitcoin price should reach the 20000$, It seems to me most likely to happen only next year.

I think bitcoin prices can go back to that expensive price again when there is good news and when the conditions of the exchange are crowded because if there are no triggers that can make the price go up then it will be very difficult to be expensive again.

It looks too late for 2018, nothing special will happen, the price will keep the position between $6000 $7000. And for 2019 perhaps for Q2 we will start to see some nice uptrends but still nothing to be super excited about.

That would better if we can see the bull run this December of 2018, and as the last month of the year demand will be as fast as what we've been experiencing last year. If $20k will be achieved the stabilized price will be roaming around on that price as well. More project will be lucky on their profit, and many traders will develop that confident mindset over long term holdings.

Good news greatly contributes to the upsurge in Bitcoin's price. But, bad news goes all the way around it, as it negatively impacts its price within a short amount of time. When bad things happen in crypto land, it takes quite a long time before everything goes back to normal. It's been nearly a year since Bitcoin has experienced a downturn in price, so it'll take some time before it goes back up again. Without a doubt, the goal of $20,000 per Bitcoin will be reached sooner or later.

But before this happens, it's important to buy Bitcoin while it's cheap before the opportunity ends. Such opportunity comes once in a lifetime, and if we don't spare some money to buy Bitcoin at cheap prices, then we'll regret it in the long run as prices would remain much higher than what they were before. Therefore, Bitcoin can hit $20,000 and above within the next years. It's all a matter of patience to be able to achieve good results over our investment. :)
