     I'm a Filipina and there's a lot of posts posted on social media that our local airline,  Philippine Airlines and STI school now accepts Bitcoin. This news will create a stir and this will help spread information that Bitcoin is not scam at all. I know in the future there will be more businesses and companies will accept Bitcoin too.

     What's your view on this? Does your country accept Bitcoin too?

Wow , why didnt I know this? Anyway im a filipina too and im hoping that some of local stores from Philipinnes accept bitcoin in paying bills. In that way many people will get interested on investing in bitcoin.

because a class of Philippine airlines is a state-owned airport, where if that is true, then what will happen is philippine indirectly legalized bitcoin in its country.

This is a great news for us,lets hope that other countries accept bitcoin too. Behind the situation of bitcoin I can still see some reason not to leave bitcoin , this news surprises some of us and this will give a huge positive impact on bitcoin and on its investors.

It's sounds good. If any private sector in any country started to accept  Bitcoin, they know the value of bitcoin .And bitcoin is not a scam at all at any moment. Bitcoin is just an asset as like a gold. And in some private industry, bitcoin is accepted as a currency too.You gave a best example for bitcoin acceptance.

Well i listen now and if it's a true than it's a great news that bitcoin accepted for airline fare and also accepted for school fee, these kind of steps regarding payment introduce news ways of payments and make its more trusting.

if bitcoin is accepted for pay the airlane fare and the school fee I think bitcoin in that place is very useful and very popular, i hope all country will use the bitcoin for pay something like that, maybe start form bill payment and buy some little stuff

This level of adoption is great for Bitcoin in general, and is an ideal use of it as a currency. Mostly because it is a transaction that doesn't need to be processed in seconds.

Bitcoin needs these types of industries to help push people to use it as a currency as opposed to an investment. I only looked into the airline option but for tuition it has the same benefit above.

Now what I really wonder is how they would handle returns/cancellations. Would it be reimbursed based on FIAT or BTC, as previous companies had done their returns in accordance with the FIAT value.

That's a good news for every Filipinos,because it is proven that Philippines country also knows and accepting bitcoin and its real value. I'm guessing they'll also give it back based on the fiat value since that's the specific amount you gave to them during that time. Giving it back based on BTC could mean a loss or win for either sides depending on the price movement.

Wow! This was so great news to all. I think all bitcoin enthusiast would be happy to hear this thing. We can go to our flight and just use our bitcoin balance for payment, great thing for the benefit of many. I hope there are more to come, more good things will happen about cryptocurrency and bitcoin.

I did a little more digging, and reread the thread. Looks like the airline industry is well suited to accepting BTC for flights. This was some news in January about a Bitnet partnership with UATP (https://99bitcoins.com/260-airlines-accept-bitcoin-bitnet-partnership/). I think the future for airlines, tuition and other similar transactions that generally have a time lag between payment and service would be to accept BTC directly without a middleman.


That makes sense at least until a time where volatility is reduced.


There are services that make bill payments (https://bylls.com/about) for BTC, they're not available everywhere but it is a step in the right direction. I have been able to make a lot of other smaller purchases using BTC, but nothing like a cup of coffee, or something on the go. It's usually transactions online that can wait for the confirmations to role in.


Missed this on my first read through. It's hard to say if that line could be drawn. I noticed that the page I was looking at says Bitcoin/Coins.ph. That to me looks more like we accept payment through Coins.ph and don't physically hold our own BTC. It would be the same as writing we accept Paypal, to some extent. I tried checking out their site and couldn't navigate to the offline payment page to read about it, to be sure.

Yes it is good that bitcoin is now accepted for airlines fare and school fee and it is not in our country but in many countries bitcoin is legally accepted for payments and but soon it will accepted for many other things and i hope that people are aware of the crypto risk but still they are buying it and use it and here we should follow the investment strategy in this crypto.

There is no big company or organization that I know that is accepting Bitcoin but there are individuals that can take bitcoin for payment of goods and services. I have use it to buy severally.

Wow this is such a great news if true. Is it true? sometimes people spread rumor for no reason but to stir the market. Have you confirmed it with airlines? This could really show them that bitcoin is getting huge. it would be a big help.

I'm not from the Philippines, so I do not know how the use of domestic airlines or school, but with the fluctuation of prices, acceptance of those currencies will be an experiment.

Also, this has happened before in several countries and has not changed the perspective of those currencies.

im also from the ph and im already aware that bitcoin and other cryptocurrency such as xrp , ether , and bch can also be used to pay school fee and other bills and if im not mistakin this service can only be found on coins.ph ( wallet/exchange ), im a correct ?

This is probably the biggest bitcoin acceptance in our country. And of course this will definitely create a bitcoin demand. And the bitcoin will rise even further, following the acceptance of small stores. And we can use bitcoin in our simple transactions.

I do not hear anything about it but it may be true. often there are bad controversies in the country, so having a real kind of benefit will increase the influence of all people becoming involved in a cryptocurrency in the country.

As far as I know, they don’t actually accept bitcoin as of now but instead, there’s a wallet called coins.ph where you can convert your bitcoin into local currency on the spot and pay using php because this wallet can be used to pay utilities or any government-related business as long as it is converted into php without having to cash it out. Correct me if I’m wrong but I haven’t seen a news about this but yes, in our country, bitcoin is known and accepted by a few businesses.

It is great to hear! In this month i have read many news about the bitcoin acceptance. When i hear a news like this one i really feel happy. Also that kind of news will help to bitcoin usage to raise. I hope the Bitcoin and the altcoins usage will clibm high and the HODLers get more richer..

i have heard the news too! and i am proud that aside from australia philippine airline is now accepting bitcoins as payment. it is true that cryptocurrencies are growing exponentially and i hope this will be a legal tender in all transactions around the globe!

In my opinion, this is something good for the advancement of cryptocurrency, especially bitcoin. Hopefully in the future, more and more companies will use bitcoin as a payment instrument. Unfortunately, in my country there is a prohibition to use bitcoin as a payment instrument  :'(

If Philippines airline and school has  started accepting bitcoin for payments then it is very good news for crypto. This will spur more countries and independent airlines operators to experiment on bitcoin as payment option ,though this will depend on how successful the Philippines are on the bitcoin as payment option. It will surely increase the legibility of bitcoin and  usage.  

I am not surprised that btc is becoming more and more widespread, to my mind, this is natural and I would be glad to use btc as the main currency in the future, i am ready for this even now

The Philippines is great place for bitcoin hodlers, the rules there are very friendly for crypto. The only thing they need to do is invest in network infrastructure so big companies like kucoin will set up an office there rather than Singapore.

nationally I have not seen bitcoin have a place in my country, but in some stores and services, some accept bitcoin as payment. so in some business fields, I think bitcoin and crypto are irreplaceable even with prices that often go up and down

If you put a realible source, it will be good cause everyone will judge what you have said is really happening. I know the state of cryptocurrency in the Philippines and are grateful that the government opened the door to its people to use cryptocurrency, and I have read in this forum that people can pay a cup of coffe with bitcoin. Southeast Asia has not fully accepted bitcoin, it's easy to hope that this step will be followed by several countries in Southeast Asia such as Brunei, Myanmar, Indonesia, Malaysia and others.

It would be good to heard that Airline fare and School fee accepted bitcoin . Because its is a big company of the world and it is a lot of good if they agree to accept bitcoin entry in their company. They can also invest and earn profits through bitcoin investment. More companies like this have the presence of bitcoin, the more too expensive bitcoin prices. I hope so many more big companies like its to accept bitcoin as an investment help to gain more profit. It's not wrong to try in new things, but we even get more knowledge.

I also saw through out social media specially in facebook stating that Philippines is regulating cryptocurrency well and recognized Bitcoin as more convenient way for money transferring. I also read some articles in cointelegraph about an adoption for bitcoin to be used as a payment in some universities and some schools are now studying blockchain. There are huge numbers of businesses all over the world are now accepting bitcoin as a payment and with that said, it is clear that bitcoin is not a scam and most of us here in this forum knows that.

Unfortunately my country do not know what bitcoin and blockchain is all about. I agree with you that if this story is true then it will increase the rate of bitcoin adoption and the number of people that will be using bitcoin will also increase.All this will combine to produce increase in bitcoin demand and the price will also increase. I do not know whether this information is accurate or not but I found this to be good news. If airlines accept bitcoin as payment, it is great for people to have a blockchain purse and pay the right amount. About the school I think Fiat should be the most reasonable.

I know that Philliphines government allow Bitcoin exchange to operate under some regulations but allowing merchant to accept Bitcoin directly? I'm not so sure. The same situation happen in Indonesia where exchanges are allowed but cryptocurrency is not a legal payment tool.

I have just been on their website and gone right through booking a ticket up to the payment screen, at no point has it offered to accept Bitcoin. Apart from social media-which is well known for being totally accurate! what is the source of your information? Has the airline given out a press release to the effect that they are going to accept or consider accepting  Bitcoin?

In my country(India), there are very few people who know about bitcoin ,because is my country illiteracy rate is too high and people are unaware of the technology. I don't think so that people in my country will use bitcoin to transact. In India there are some people who are dealing with bitcoin or other crypto, but they are doing this just for the sake of investment.
