Title: Fathers account was banned (70 year old) can I please know what the did?
Post by: vederfreds on September 21, 2018, 02:41:25 AM
My 70 year old father was banned form the forum.  I don't think he plagiarized as he does not do signatures.  I believe he did do his fair share of Twitter and Telegram bounties.  He may have also been considered a shit poster by most here but I will let you guys peep his profile and see if you think he is a serial madman or just an elderly guy doing his thing.  He types about 5 characters per hour so long posts are hard.  Is there anyone here who can tell me if he is permanently banned?  If not is there a way he can get back on and reinstated?

Also if it found he did something really worth of a ban then I will go kick him in the ass tomorrow and straighten him out.

Thanks for the help guys

Here he is in all his glory.  Let me know what you guys think.

Quick edit:  Before you ask I have no idea what DeepDown87 means.  I asked him what the hell it means and he says he has no idea it just came to him.  I'm 42 years old and having your elderly father with a handle of deepdown87 is fairly disturbing.   Maybe it's better we just get rid of this account.   :)

This one is talking about his father and I feel a sympathy on it. But from what I observe now there are numerous amount of threads involving their family on the line, I guess this has been on the ruckus made by theymos on the merit requirement of Jr. Members though this post you made is not connected to merit but with my deduction, what would you do if this account get back? Send the 1 merit to you? Use your fathers account to join on campaigns? Do really your father own that account or it was you? Though I don't have to question the latter since having alt accounts is not discouraged in this forum but you should know the limits.

Here are the other threads that member of the family is involved with:

When you try to log in what does your your father's ban text say? Does it specify how long the account is banned? If not, you your father are is permabanned.

>90% of the permabans are because you your father plagiarised, but since 90% of your his posts are written in another language (or maybe they're posted in a subforum i'm ignoring... To lazy to find out which is the exact reason i'm not seeing your his posts), i'm not going to sift trough your his posts to find any offending messages.

BTW: a ban means YOU YOUR FATHER is banned, not only your his account. If you he continues posting with another account, you're he's ban evading which is a bannable offence

What has the fact that he is 70 got to do with anything?

I'm 76, and I'm just approaching middle age, and I get pissed off with the fat younger guys, who are pumping medication into their bodies ( I've no idea if this is true in your case), trying to disparage older people with more experience in life.

Maybe he thinks that mods will pity on elders and unlocked his banned account.

That's what he's obviously going for. It won't work.

Dammit - I keep trying to think of something that I can claim due to age and imagined frailty. :)

You know the board is lost when you get abused and accused of being a liar, asshole, cheater and a terrible son with absolutely ZERO proof to back it up and people hand out the merit to individuals making these claims.  I guess you are guilty until proven innocent here.  You guys may want to stop and think about how your treating people.  I'm not lying.  Can't really prove it but I am disappointed at the attack.  One could have simply said you father was shit posting and is banned.  End of story.

The personal attacks were uncalled for.  The fact that they were merited shows a lot about why the forum is having issues.  No one will respect your rules when you have no respect for the other members.

That knife cuts both ways, you know. Basically, there's no good way for you to prove that it was your father that got banned, and not one of your alt accounts.

That said, I checked DeepDown87's post history and it looks like that user was last active in June of this year, but the last post was in November of last year. Perhaps the problem is due to the password being entered incorrectly too many times which triggers the <terminally broken> challenge question system. If that is the case then from what I've observed here on meta, this account is lost.

Global moderators making accusations with no proof.

If it's obvious show me some proof.  You should be ashamed being a moderator talking shit like this.

As a moderator post exactly what his offense was.  Your like a referee giving out opinions.  It's unprofessional.

You have shown no proof that it's your dad either. Maybe you are telling the truth, but I personally don't believe you. What I really want to know is why do you think we care or need to know about the age or relation of this member? It's irrelevant and looks done just to get pity. Do you know how many times I've seen someone come here and ask why their father/brother/sister/cousin's account was banned and it is so blatantly obvious their alt account. I've lost count. Usually they type the exact same way and make the same typos and grammar mistakes and often there's even wallet proof, but it's definitely not them and just a family member /sarcasm.

Also, stop double/triple/quadruple posting.

What would I do with the account if reinstated?   How about give it back to my father so he can regain his membership?  Why do you auto assume everyone is evil and scheming?  Do you think this kind of post is healthy for the forum where anyone reading can see the false accusations plain as day?  Especially from moderators jumping in and attacking with false claims.

Wow dude, you're putting a lot of words in my mouth here... Where the hell did I call you an asshole or a terrible son?

The fact remains that most of the guys asking to unban a family member are in fact just trying to get an alt account unbanned... There is a small chance you're actually telling the truth, but I must say that my experience tells me otherwise.

There are a lot of reasons why you would claim your alt account is not yours, mostly to create plausible deniability:
  • if you strike first and claim the banned account belongs to a family member, you can continue posting with your alt without evading your ban
  • if somebody links your accounts together using wallet analysis you can claim your dad was using your wallet
  • if IP evidence comes up proving the banned account is your alt, you can just claim your dad was using your internet
  • ...

Next to this, claiming your alt account belongs to your frail old dad might increase the sympathy factor and maybe the admin will give you your alt account back...

On the other side, your dad would win nothing by letting you fight his battles... If he was banned, he could have made a new account to open his own thread in meta and state his case... It would have been less embarrassing.

So, I have no proof the banned account is actually your alt, but the odds are not in your favour. In the slim chance I'm wrong:I apologise...

The fact remains that if there was no time indication, this is a perma ban... And if anybody links your account with your "dads", it will also be banned due to ban evasion.

Good luck, and you'd better grow a thicker skin if you're going to stick around... Twisting words around and claiming people said things about you they didn't actually say won't help any of your accounts ahead

I was given the pleasure of being called a shitty son and other various bullshit by other posters.

Thick skin is one thing but being attacked for asking to have an account looked into seems like a bit of an extreme.  A simple no the account is gone would have been sufficient.  There seems to be a which hunt going on here and I think continuing this is bad for both myself and the forum as it seems to be showing an ugly side of the situation.

I believe your fathers account as you claim should have a message displayed on the profile, normally it will say, it will point the address he will write to appeal, I guess you should follow the instruction been displayed on the ban account.

Thanks for password being the issue theory.  It's very possible that's what occurred.

I am going to end this journey now and bow out of this thread as I have been warned to stop making posts by the moderator so I'm not sure if I will be banned for responding further at this point.  The account seems to be a total loss and this request seems to be showing an ugly side of this forum.  No need to continue.  Thanks to everyone who gave me some good insights on what the possible causes were.

Honestly, it would have been much better had the old an create a new account in order to take care of the ban apeal.  I tag the alt accounts who show up and do the actual ban appeal, because they usualy make it know that they're alt accounts.  Situations where sons come here to appeal a ban that their father got throw a monkey wrench into the works, and if you don't think this thread is suspicious then you haven't been on bitcointalk long enough to see all the shenanigans that go on here.  There's always a chance the son here has an alt account he's claiming to be his father's.  I wouldn't put that past anyone here.

I would guess because it's a very tasty Member account that was luckily airdropped ten merit and is now very valuable to him.

Thanks for password being the issue theory.  It's very possible that's what occurred.

That's not what it is. The account is permabanned. I don't know why. Probably because the posts are pretty much exclusively generic bot-like 'good project' posts:

Looks like a good project.  Waiting to find out more.  Thanks for the opportunity.

I am going to end this journey now and bow out of this thread as I have been warned to stop making posts by the moderator so I'm not sure if I will be banned for responding further at this point.

You we're told to stop multiposting, not to stop from posting all together.

The account seems to be a total loss and this request seems to be showing an ugly side of this forum.  No need to continue.  Thanks to everyone who gave me some good insights on what the possible causes were.

The forum can be very ugly and scams, spams and lies are rife. There's a very shady side to this forum because a lot of people are greedy and come here to abuse the system. We're being sceptical of your claims because we've heard this exact same thing numerous times before and they've often been found out to be lying. Nobody is saying for a fact that you are lying about it being your father's account but we have no reason to believe you either. Us being naive and believing everything everyone ever said or the excuses we hear time after time would make this forum a much worse place. Sure, you can call us cynical and harsh and it certainly sucks for you if you're telling the truth but we're just being realistic and calling it like we see it.
