Title: Looking at starting a UK/EU based Antminer repair centre
Post by: refjamie2 on September 24, 2018, 09:38:49 AM
Hi folks, bit of quick market research if I may?

A friend and I recently went to China and completed the Bitmain Antminer repair course and after coming home and attending to our own farm, we are wondering if our skills would be of use out in the wild?

It was mostly hardware with 10% software relating to the Antminer series - replacing chips and components along with fault finding and fixing every scenario.

You very rarely read about Bitcoin mining in the UK. There must be a few out there but the power costs will drive most people elsewhere. Lots of cheaper power elsewhere like Bulgaria so you may well get much more EU business over UK.

If setting up a new service won't cost you much then it has to be worth a try. At present it looks like quite a few people still go to Bitmainwarranty/Myrig in the US and that can take weeks.

Is there really a market in Europe about this? Big enough to create a company in this kind of activity. The electricity cost in the West is 2 times more than in the East. So I think your target should be the East

@gentlemand
Hey Brexit is not yet, are you guy in the UK trying to avoid your responsibility for broken Europe? :D

@RNS-SOL
Can't you read the topic to understand what the guy is talking about, the guy is clearly talking about Bitmain Antminer repair course. You don't know what it is, or you didn't read, which one is your case.

It wasn't my fault and I may well emigrate in protest. My only straightforward hope is an independent Scotland.

Georgia is big in mining as is Iceland and Russia. It's possible you'd get customers from there. It would still be less hassle than China or America.

If you can't find anyone offering that kind of service in Europe then why not?

Or you can open a thread in Mining Section and then offer your service, afaik, perhaps you can help some miners troubleshoot and repair instead of shipping the hardware to Bitmain.

I'm wondering if you could offer those repairs are reasonable rates.
I mean, it might be a lot less hassle for these large scale mining operations to just order new miners, especially if they've broken down after X amount of months.

Also, do they offer warranty on miners?

If they only stand to save very little, it might just not be worth it for them to bring their rigs in for repair.

Got here through searching for antminer repair services. Any update on what you decided to do? I'm in Saudi and found that most service centers are in USA, which would probably cost a lot to ship, China is an option, but I feel a reasonable repair cost in Europe might be a good choice for people around here.

Yep, a lot of them are in The US.

However, if Europe can be an alternative to you with the cost, you can take a look at Zeusbtc . They're located in The Netherlands and Georgia and they do have a repair center in Spain (or Portugal) if I remember correctly
