Title: Poker on blockchain and internet poker ban in USA
Post by: Copod on September 28, 2018, 02:15:35 PM
If you didn't know the internet poker is banned in USA.
Now, can blockchain with its decentralization avoid these bans and can blockchain poker rooms operate in USA? Are there good operating blockchain poker room that accept USA players?

there are already sites that offer poker for US players like americascardroom , betonline , ignition ...etc
I don't know if blockchain has anything to do with the ban , the sites that already accept bitcoin also accept US players
so poker sites that takes bitcoin can already accept US players , but to be honest crypto poker is dead with very little volume so there is no point in even thinking about creating something new that mixes blockchain and poker

What do you mean with banned?

No one can ban Bitcoin transactions to and from online casinos abroad and yes there are several online casinos accepting US players and you can even play with consumer protection service inclusive. :)

I think you're trying to say "decentralization" and not blockchain?

Crypto poker is dead and that's a very sad fact, to my mind it would be much comfortable to deposit/play with btc over fiat. Seems crypto users don't care on poker or it don't has enough attention from casinos.
Can anyone explain me, what the hell blockchain technologies have to do with poker? I know it can be useful in a lot of services and have a lot of examples of it, personally I am bc fun but have no idea what it has to do with poker.

I'm just wondering where OP got their information from... Its not illegal on a federal level in the United States, though it is illegal in some states:

The short answer is yes, online poker is legal in the United States on the individual level. It’s certainly not illegal federally, despite many misleading statements over the years from government officials and those in favor of online gambling prohibition.

It can get a little tricky on the state level. Most states don’t have laws against online gambling, but in some states, such as Washington state, online gambling is a felony offense. Citizens can even be prosecuted for simply having online poker software on their computers. States that have laws against individual gamblers, like Utah and Louisiana, also criminalize online poker by default.

With that said, no one has ever been prosecuted on the national or state level for playing online poker. Even in Washington state, there have been zero online poker arrests. Even though these laws are on the books, no one is being arrested or prosecuted. So yes, it is safe to play poker from the US. Please see the referenced article for a complete article on safety and more here about getting scammed in poker.

Currently, online poker is legal and regulated in New Jersey, Delaware, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. Players in those states will have no issues playing on regulated sites in these states, but more on this later.

I've never had any problems playing online poker at Nitrogensports even though I registered my account in the US and played from there several times.

thing about poker is that it needs players , so traffic is a must in a poker site
that's the hard part since it's really hard to have good traffic of people who are interested in both of poker and crypto at the same time
that's the only explanation I have , especially that I see a lot of new dice sites that have success after like 1 year of launching while poker sites usually close

In some states like Italy, you can play only on their National Casinos provided with a license form the govern.
If you try to play on an external site you are in front of an IP block of the finance guard (yeah you can avoid with but), then if you are caught playing in sites without state license you are criminally prosecutable.
