Title: Day trading, the very beginning
Post by: JustNerd on September 29, 2018, 02:44:15 PM
Hi guys,

I'm considering to start day trading. Before now i'm in the crypto world from more than a year. I'm minner and i made some good profit from icos, but the current condition of the market is terrible for icos. If they don't don't adjust i can't see any profit in them for now. So i want to try day trading in crypto, while the volatility is still prespective for not so hard profit.

October im planning to spend the month for learning about day trading in crypto.
I would be glad to hear from you any suggestions for books, courses (prefer even more expensive from traders which are with good experience and results in this market) and everything which could be useful for the very beginning.

Thank you!

Here is my contribution to your learning process:

Pretty much everything you will need to know (in just one long post) to get you started.

Judging by how you mix up mining and earning from ICOs it looks like you need more than a month to learn how to become a trader. Aside from reading books (which I hope you will really do) you can test out what you have learned with a mock portfolio and try to do test buys and sell with it using an app like blockfolio. With this you will really know if you really are learning something from what you are reading. Of course doing fake trades are different compared to the real ones as this time you really risk your money.

Trading is a complicated aspect of cryptocurrency. And it takes a lot of learning to be a successful trader. Day trading is technically trading, and you would have to practise on all aspects.
There are helpful sites and platforms, some offer demo trading, before going live.
- Always start small
- Protect your capital
- Master your skill, and stick to it
- Have long-term goals

Actually day trading requires a big concentration and to learn new information every day. Also I prefer to improve my skills on technical analysis. For example I like to read books of William Gann, Bradley Cowen and look through movies on youtube about using technical indicators.

It may be true.
I asked one of the old timers here and he became one of the risk taker with ICOs too.
He cannot decide now what ICO would be best suit for a long term investment. The events of scams really hurt him.

You may be going at a better way with trading but it is almost at the same risk although not that much since we cannot see much movement right now.
I prefer ETH for now since it is the most volatile than dust tokens all over the market. With 30 -40 usd range of changes you could make profit.

Day trading is a wonderful platform in next month. So you should try small gem in this situation. Because we will never gain good knowledge in books and courses of trading. If you really looking for day trading I suggest plan your goal and concentrate your aim.

I think you must learn first how trading works before you going to day trading because day trading is too risky compared to longterm trading.

You can try some crypto trading courses like this youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUGW3BiM-FA

I hope that it might help.

I agree with you, daily trading requires good analysis.
advantage is very difficult to obtain. forget fomo and that kind of greed will make your trade difficult. you should do things that are small risk.

most coin prices are currently decreasing and that includes coin icos, and I think you should make a lot of purchases for you to hold up to high prices again and that's where you will get the benefits.

Like others have said before. Books won't help you. They are good for teaching the basics like what is LONG or SHORT or what is horizontal support/resistance, etc.

A wise man once said "You can't teach experience" and this is the only thing you require for trading.

You need to understand that you are a little fish in a ocean full of whales and sharks, who have more money than you and experience. The stock market is no different. Most people who try and day trade probably end up giving up after about 6-12 months or so.

Some tips:

  • First study the market behavior before investing, do some simulation.
  • Invest only what you are willing to loose
  • Don't leave your BTC in the exchange
  • Trust no one, learn from everybody

Read and view as much video as you can but remember “Practice makes the master.” Patrick Rothfuss

Good luck

To learn strategy and risk management of day trading, we should be start by learn technical analysis to determine support and resistance area, and to learn it there are alot of tutorial on the google or youtube. And second one is how to make the trading activity will be less risk by use management of risk and money. Some of the risk management is avoid buy coin on the top, use stop loss/ trailling stop, dont chase price when pumping, and dont be greedy or FOMO and you should be have montly target profit.

i haven't read too many books---i'm pretty much self-made. :P but i would recommend this one: "Charting the Stock Market: The Wyckoff Method" (https://www.amazon.com/Charting-Stock-Market-Wyckoff-Method/dp/0938773062)

it taught me a lot about market psychology and cycles, and how to step back and take a bird's eye view of the market you're trading.

as for courses, i would avoid anything paid. i've never heard anything good about paid services, and the general consensus is, why are these guys offering paid courses if they're such good traders? they should be stacking profits from trading!

you should check out babypips for a solid free online course that'll show you the basics of technical analysis:

one of the best places to start learning technical analysis is babypips. i recommend starting here: https://www.babypips.com/learn/forex

yes, it's geared towards forex trading, but TA is applicable to all markets including cryptocurrency. the first couple sections are introductory and mostly forex-related. i would skip to "course 3: elementary" and go from there.

for a beginner, i'd definitely emphasize studying support and resistance, moving average analysis, oscillators and divergences. this should give you a good base to work from.

Gambling is about lucky, maybe there are some parts about strategy. But in the field of trading, isn't all about lucky, strategy and knowledge of trading specifically cryptocurrency is the main point. Your mental and psychic are really needed, and that's good if you were familiar with it.

And about the material to be used as a learning to become a trader, it would be better if you increase your practice compared to searching more about the theory. With practice it will make you learn more about yourself, or learn about what you have done before. Evaluate of every profit you get and also evaluates if you get a loss.

You should not trade the day at this time. The market is bleak and there are some confusing things going on that will be a big risk that is on you. Do not try to become the prey of the market. Please wait for a better market to trade.

Trying something new is very good but to do many things you need to pay attention to besides placing money at a low price and selling at a higher price, of course there is something called technical analysis daily to understand the diagram every day before starting to buy, don't pegged in one coin but you try to choose which coin has the chance to go up, that's what you have to take, trading is very high risk if you panic, keep calm considering this is a bad condition to become a daily trader, many people lose the pumping trick, so now try to learn more, when it's time to trade it's time to pour everything you learn, but be careful.

My biggest piece of advice for right now would be not to expect too much and to not to be disheartened if things don't go immediately to plan. The current market is far from ideal for day trading so it's going to be a difficult market for a beginner to trade in.

Make sure to include social signals in your trading. What I mean by social signals is when the founders or other influencers post about your coins, take that into consideration and act FAST. Never be greedy when it comes to trading on social signals.

Make sure you're following all of the coin's social media. You can profit massively this way!

Book for trading i think it is already on some book store, and you can try learn trading on youtube. But still, it will hard without practice, so when you practice make sure you use a little amount of money first to get experience, then you increase your capital to make sure if your mental already prepared for that.

I hope in the recovery of the Crypto market in October. I believe in the future, the prices of many altcoins will increase dramatically by the end of 2018. Of course I do not expect the pumping of many whales, I just hope it grows slowly but surely.

this is good but not on its own because these "social signals" you are talking about are most of the times fake hype that will also fail to succeed in pumping. of course you shouldn't confuse them with the nonsense random people post.
for example a coin developer may hype his coin and release a bunch of stuff but it may not lead to any kind of rise. because the market is going the other way for instance or the coin was just pumped.
in short you should only take then as a small possibility that may or may not happen. then you analyze the market and charts to see how possible it is based on the ongoing trend.

Why not try to just trade, swing trade is much easier where you will position your coin for a certain value then just wait for that to achieve. day trading is a whole lot  complicated kind of trading where you need to know the correct timing of entry amd exit or you will lose all your money in no time.
I have been in stock market for long time but I still find it very hard to do day trading that I actually don't do it at all after my balance in binance almost go to zero.
I'm not trying to frighten you but just reality.
As for learning materials, investopedia is the best place on line to learn trading then try to check and download apps that you can practice trading. Also check tradingview and read and learn how those pro do trading analysis just he careful to those who's just hyping. Then listen to news coz it can affect sentiments of market.
Although many saying FA and TA is not necessary for crypto trading I still believe it's needed to successfully trade. Basic trading knowledge will still give you edge.
Goodluck and welcome to crypto trading.

when you invest in an ICO you are gambling with your money. if you made profit in the past it means you were lucky and the odds were better in the past. right now the only thing that has changed is the odds of winning because people started to realize it is a gamble.

based on my personal experience there is no books or courses or anything like that which can help you learn trading cryptocurrencies successfully and make profit. all you need is familiarity with the market and some experience to know how the coins have been acting in the past. basically know how the pump and dumps work in altcoin market and then try to catch them to make profit.
one of the things you need to learn is the ability to see where the money has gone to. for example nowadays there are many altcoins from the bottom of the list that are getting pumped and traders are mostly involved in them while occasionally pumping one coin from the top like XRP pump a couple of days ago.

You can try from google, you tube tutorial and many group with trading topic but I'm afraid you should start from basic knowledge first ( risk, money management, emotion control ). Trading is not easy only 3% people success in this process, many of them colaps or even bankrupt in short time. The step is not change, learn the risk, practice money management with demo account and obey rules when using real money. Day trading is recommended is this market situation but set stop loss and take profit area with realistic point is very important.

I hope that you can make it possible to learn trade within a month. Trading is a serious business and to be honest it will take more than a month to learn trading and be a day trader . Before dealing with this type of venture you should practice yourself to be more patient because timing is everything when it comes to trading . By the way aside from reading books regarding to trading, technical analysis' etc. You could also get some ideas by watching youtube videos or anything on the internet that you could help you to reach your goal.

I have known so many people over the years to discard knowledge and experience when it comes to trading a market and this has been seen the years of trading stocks and forex before cryptocurrency even came into play.

Most times when people tend to hear they can make certain amount of money quickly when they do certain things, the rush always kicks in and then you see people trying their hands without knowledge and then seeing themselves lose their money hugely.

Day trading most especially is not even something anyone should tamper with without knowledge and experience as that can really send you packing from the trading world before you even start.

Many have written that day trading is a very difficult way to make a profit. To do this, you need to have extensive experience, understanding of the market and the ability to quickly analyze a specific situation in the market. Do not trade within the day!

Set your mind in this kind of trading. A lot of obstacles are on your way and is very risky. You have to deal and dance with unpredictable market and always make a trial on your own and always trust your TA with of course knowledge about indicators.

If you decide to trade in the day then you should update your knowledge in depth, maybe if you will lose money but please be patient and choose the right coin, correct the trend of the market so that you will benefit. leap

Day trading is not as easy as it seems, it requires intense work, one of the challenges I have had in this market is the physiological aspect of it owing to the fact that trading brings both joy and pain, you maybe happy now and next momenr you are sad, due a missed opportunity or bad decision and that affects our emotions. A day trader should be wary of this.

Many people still believe this is good time to get income on crypto market, don't you see the condition?. I'll not stop you to use any strategy on market but it will waste your time and hard work because there's no significant price move, from where you'll get income. Day trading is good but use demo account is better.

Though You are here almost one year passed but you are new in the trade section, then I think you shouldn't be hurry to learn the trade. No books can help you to become a successful trader. You have to learn, you have to work hard to gain it. Be a successful trader is not easy, Investing in ICOs, minings are easier than Trading. That's why you have to spend a lot of time to learn about the crypto market price chart, market analysis and so on. Just Keep updating yourself about Coin listing, new even, or any news. These things will help you in trade.

day trading in fluctuating market conditions does not allow this to be dangerous to manage assets. Moreover, the SEC and ETF still have no clear news. if I become you, even if I have bigger asset. I will think twice about doing it. Its just because day trading have big risk

Day trading is a very hard job, its easy to lose money their but your profit still not guaranteed. So learning must be done first before anything, and continue to know more about trading everyday. One month is not enough but at least you already know the basic things.

Thank you!

day trading in fluctuating market conditions does not allow this to be dangerous to manage assets. Moreover, the SEC and ETF still have no clear news. if I become you, even if I have bigger asset. I will think twice about doing it. Its just because day trading have big risk
before you trade daily, you should have funds for long-term trading. so it's separated between the two. Daily trading is more difficult, due to large and unpredictable price fluctuations

Make sure to include social signals in your trading. What I mean by social signals is when the founders or other influencers post about your coins, take that into consideration and act FAST. Never be greedy when it comes to trading on social signals.

Make sure you're following all of the coin's social media. You can profit massively this way!

this is good but not on its own because these "social signals" you are talking about are most of the times fake hype that will also fail to succeed in pumping. of course you shouldn't confuse them with the nonsense random people post.
for example a coin developer may hype his coin and release a bunch of stuff but it may not lead to any kind of rise. because the market is going the other way for instance or the coin was just pumped.
in short you should only take then as a small possibility that may or may not happen. then you analyze the market and charts to see how possible it is based on the ongoing trend.

More often social media signals are in vague statements that seems in safe side

Its a take your own explanation things that a newb usually got misinterpreted

Instead of relying on the signals, Learn from their materials

I've seen a lot of social media groups posting strategies that were helpful understand the markets

Daily trading seems like you can do it when the market conditions are busy and of course you should be able to have a lot of capital to be able to find a lot of profit from utilizing the price movements of coins that are in circulation that day.

For Day trading we need little more experience because day trading is not an easy job to predict the prices within a short period of time. We need to be very optimistic to trade according to the market ups and downs otherwise you will be in big loss. As you are saying you are a beginner and be careful with the market situation.

This is not a very good idea. It cannot make you many money if you day trade. It might costs you a lot if you don't have the idea in trading. So, becareful on what you trade for.

I would add that this is the most risky way of trading. Intraday cost much money already to many traders. It is better to use higher timeframes.

Hello! Trading is a game of opportunities with random outcome. There is no a single strategy that will provide you with 100% iron clad signals. This is why it is better to avoid day trading and concentrate on midterm trading using appropriate money and risk management system.

Book for trading i think it is already on some book store, and you can try learn trading on youtube. But still, it will hard without practice, so when you practice make sure you use a little amount of money first to get experience, then you increase your capital to make sure if your mental already prepared for that.
You do not even need to start going to stores to start buying books on trading as there are so many resources online where strategies on how to trade, the knowledge of some of the indicators for most day traders and how you can use them to make decisions and then some other ways you can manage risks as the case may be.

The only thing here is that a lot of people are always too lazy to access it and they just prefer the rushing in strategy instead, and the last time I checked, if you rush into something without learning and practicing pretty well, the possibility of rushing out the same way is certain.

Actually doing day trading is so difficult wherein not recommended for beginners especially if market is not stable, but it's  up you if  you're really interested on it. By the way try to make some research some tips around the internet to obtain knowledge, or on YouTube which very helpful  for step by step tutorials maybe a big help, but i suggest always to check the comments as well to assure those tips is certain.  Because most now around internet even on YouTube are not experts and had no enough experience when it comes trading.  Wherein just claiming only their selves as an expert but not their own strategies, .

At the beginning, i would suggest you go for long-term trading, as you are not experienced it wouldn't be suitable for you to do day-trading. First, start trading for a longer-period of time, as you gain experience you can do day-trading and make profit too.

Day trading is very hectic, you need a lot of skills & experience to succeed in day trading. No issue everyone has to start from somewhere better if you start with a small amount and test your skills and gain experience about the movement of charts & crypto market. Day trading can make you frustrated if you lose your capital so at least learn the technical skills that bring you some profits. There are a lot of resources on the internet you can also find courses on udemy.

If you have plenty of time to watch the price then day trading will be good but if we can't manage to look on the price every now and then to see the price it can get at that day then better do holding then sell at time you think you earn. Too long holding sometime leads on lose so always keep you coins track.

Day trading can be done at a good and high rising market prices of every crypto coins. That's a good suggestions to do trades for longer terms as part of the growing progress of each holdings we have. Just study day trading using few amounts of your assets and don't use it with bigger amounts, because you will potentially loss it in a long run due to lack of knowledge.

If you have a lot of time to spare then you can try day trading. One important thing about day trading is your goal.Set a goal and once you hit your goal whether its a goal to sell or buy, stick to it. Greed will always be a factor in trading specially in day trading because there are times when you see the trend is going up, you will have this thinking that you want to wait a little more to earn more, thats why you need to stick to your plan.

If you're beginners hoping for a huge return in a day this is not for you, coz in crypto you need alot of patience and need a lot of time. But if you can risk a single amount of money to make a trade then try to read the chart and most probably the fundamentals of cryptos coz we all know the market is very volatile. So make a reading a habit most of the time. Day trading is risky but if you are very good trader then you can make alot of profit on marging trading.

Learning is indeed one paramount thing for any trader and after learning, I have seen a lot of traders quickly hopping into a market and that has made them to flop hugely.

As long as you know you want to trade, you should be ready to take your time and have enough patience to be able to get certain that you already have a strategy and you are ready to go through with the strategy to build on it and then build a strong might towards it.

The beginning is always going to be a tough one and this is the reason why practicing is always very important so as to be able to know that you are set for the real market.

You need to get yourself a mentor who you will be ready to guide you as you grow in your crypto space. Learning and investing money or time or both is healthy way. You need to have with what to day trade, more of that you have more easier day trading can be for you, easier in the way that you will be able to allow your self to make a mistake. We all make mistakes, but not all of us have a back up plan. Big traders never sell everything they have, nor they buy everything they can, they do both in well chosen time. How important timing is you can see everywhere, who did something first or last is a big difference. Learn and do what you need to do to make you amounts in all coins and currencies grow, when they grow enough you can start with trading.

this is good advice, OP said he just wants to learn, so he will not risk doing day trade with a lot of money. I hope

Im not goin to start day trading now, i just want to learn about it before that, some knowledge about that how works the market and maybe after that i will try :)

Best option would be to buy many coins and hold for a long time

I already have good coins holdings as metronome, wan, NEX and icx. But i have some other money in ETH and BTC so my idea is to increase them, i dont want to trade with fiat pairs or USDT, i prefer some pairs between alts and btc or eth and other alts, its seem for me harder to loose in usd value that way.

The different ways in trading will definitely be very funny Chennai people day trading is also very effective way to wear quick profit but the profit amount was very low when you are not in active that's why day trading is very tough for job for everyone to get more income so my opinion is long investment is more better than day trading but depends upon the each and every people situation and their basic life.

What any new trader should even be doing first is to learn as much as they can, make sure they have touched almost all areas they need to including technical analysis, money management, risk management and so on. In this regard, it would be easy for them to have some basis to start practicing. Now, this is where some people get things wrong.

After learning, they think they are already game and then enter the market with real funds. No, it is imperative to always try as much as possible to trade with demo funds, know how good you are, get confident in trading the market, and as long as you know you are ready for the real world, you kick in. That is the only way as a person, you will be able to find a strategy and you won't make any regrettable decisions when it comes to trading.

Day trading is still a challenge in Crypto as most of the exchange still does not have good volume, I have tried day even in Binance but could not succeed, although I am still trying daily TF trading there but volume is always a challenge in current situation, there is no fluctuation is the price, I would recommend you to try in forex if you are thinking of day trading, due to high price fluctuation you can get a good profit on right trades.

Indeed, it requires someone who is really active in monitoring market conditions and selecting coins and tokens carefully. Not every person can do it, because most of them lose capital when they start and force them to hold the coin longer to get it back. It's only for people who dare to take big risks.
It is even one thing to be actively monitoring the market and it is another thing to know what you are actually monitoring.
Day trading generally is very hectic and there is absolutely no doubt about that, which is not something new anyway, but the thing is that as long as you know what you are doing, the chances of really doing well hugely is there.

Now, that knowing what you are doing is something a whole lot of people do not want to get enough patience to be able to do right and they just feel as long as they just start, learn from experience, things would be good. I have never even advised a new trader to start with day trading in the first place.

Crypto trading is very risky and day trading is very risky for everyone. Even a expert trader losses their money by day trading. If you want to learn day trading then you need to be concentration on every part of trading. There have no benfits by reading books, if you don't try it practically. So if you want to learn day trading then you can learn it from an expert persons or you can try to learn from youtube.

I completely agree with your opinion. But, If they have to pay each daily bills, they have to start learning daily trading. They cant wait and invest in long term. My suggestion for you is to not be greedy. there is a huge diffirence between long term investment and daily trading. You cant hope that you can earn 10 or 20% each days. 1% or 2% is enough for each transaction

Why pay for books or a course if you can just browse the internet and find some answers?

There are also groups in discord and telegram that helps with new traders. Just dont go beyond what they offer to avoid payment.

There is youtube also where people create videos for tutorials of this kind. No worries they are getting paid for views and subscribers.

Thank you!
Glad to know that there are people who realized the need to learn before trading and willing to spend a whole month to do so. A lot of newbies today only care about making a profit but didn't do their homework (i.e. learning, setting up a strategy) before executing.

As already mentioned above, babypips is the best place to get started in trading as a whole. Once you got into crypto, you might want to read this article https://alunacrypto.blogspot.com/2016/03/bitcoin-altcoins-trading-complete-guide-cryptocurrency-tutorial-trading-strategy-fundamental-analysis-technical-analysis.html. The article is more focused into cryptocurrency.

I don’t really know for you, but ICOs are the big thing for this year. Cryptocurrencies has been failing a lot of people  so the choice for majority is ICO and lots of people who went for ICO has been able to make a lot of profit from it this year.

If you try to HODL this year you’re not going to gain anything from what I’m seeing, so best is ICO, unless you will go for trading or maybe go back to mining, since you said you’re gaining from it. If I were you I would continue would anyone that is helping me earn some income.

ICOs are good, it's intended for long term hold and only in bull market where you can make a day trading more easy.
Right now, the price is so unpredictable but the sad thing is that the downtrend is more dominant, we should understand that it's all about timing
and we should not rush things if we want to have a long term success in crypto.

Before you begin to day trading you need to research first and practice trading without using your own money. You can also collect free coins and tokens to use it for trading. Once you are familiar and confident in the process then you can start trading in real trading.

Patience is actually one of the problems a lot of people usually find difficult to be able to imbibe when it comes to the market. They are always looking for the market to just hit an exchange and voila, things should just start getting rosy. A lot of things will have to take place when it comes to development and as time goes on with other people finding the need to use the product as well as the coin, the demand would increase.

Hence at the end, it is just all about how ready you are when it comes to being patient and focusing on the long term. With day trading however, I guess in this space, everything requires great deal of knowledge and if you do not have it, which would be a huge problem.

I suggest you to trade different coins, but not more than 5 for the beginning, that will make you know various scenarios and trading models.

I think that it is very difficult for a beginner to deal with the day trading. The guy must better concentrate on the long-term trading or holding. When he gets more experience, he can try himself in this business.

i think im the only 1 with only 1 account the guy wo start the tread was a newbie but he says he has earn a lot of money with icos that make me think that account is a new one because he has less that 6 participations . well getting back to the initial topic. whatever you do you have to start doing everything with a simul;ation without real money i dont know u guys but i use metatrader and with simulation i lost a lot but a lot of money jeje thx god it wasnt real money
Someone having a newbie account on this platform does not necessarily make the person a novice to investment in the space when it comes to ICOs. There are so many other platforms with which you can have access to ICOs as well.

That is by the way though, but those who are smart are not always looking into investing in ICOs and concentrating on the short term, and personally for me, I have been investing in ICOs for over a year now and with my trading knowledge I have been able to do very well when it comes to even increasing my stash for the long run so at the end, it still depends on your level of knowledge in some certain areas.
