If you see in the coinmarketcap today, the rank of XRP increase and in the second place beat eth. Is it possible to xrp to guard its place and defeat eth as the best altcoins and make people more interested in xrp?
Can someone give anyreason why xrp can beat eth?

As far as I know, the SEC is intending to accept the XRP, so this information has made xrp prices continue to increase, but to me I still believe in ETH, this coin will increase head later this year

It's temporarily because ETH has real decentralization, great team and big community but XRP is a not really decentralized useful shitcoin because their team holds about 60% of XRP and banks don't need it. Ripple is technology that helping banks to money transfer but XRP in useful.

Hi, I think XRP only temporary beat ETH in short time. After pump, Xrp will be drop to it position. And in long time i still strongly believe in ETH. ETH is one of the big network.

Again XRP has beaten Ethereum to Number 2 on the coinmarketcap but I don't think this would last, Ripple team has money, influence but not the trust of people because IMO it is viewed as a bankers project and we all know how people in the space feel about banks. If they keep testing this position maybe market would accept it that it is more valuable than Ethereum

If really position of coins changes then I don't think it really matters for us  ???  if we invest in both. Because both coins will be on 2nd or 3rd. But how ETH used on large scale like its' blockchain technology over ICO. If trend again starts like last year then hard to beat ETH.

Long term I do not see any chances for XRP to beat ETH . Short term XRP can take over the lead as it has many positive news lately
and good marketing activities, while ETH is facing some issues. Long term ETH will bounce back for sure.

XRP will definitely grow and this team has good plans for the future. But ETH will be exactly in front, XRP will not increase ETH. I believe in ETH that it will grow and will reach serious heights in 2019.

The market standing between ripple and ethereum and other altcoins is not the indication of the near end or even the potential to move forward. Things could change as just temporarily.

Anything can happen ripple will be leading in 2nd place unbeaten by ethereum or ethereum will be back on 2nd place .  If ethereum want to back in 2nd place, ethereum need changing in the market. Make a people trust and cheap transfer from exchanger to wallet or wallet to wallet, make it true money.

Initially we were thinking the second position that Ripple have taken from ethereum is just for a moment. from all indication ethereum is not ready to go back to second position, there is still a big difference between the market capitalization of Ripple and Ethereum. The fact that it has a better rank does not mean that it is better than ETH, I personally do not support ripple much because of its centralized nature, besides it is not even a crypto, financially it is almost certain to give good results, but it is like another company, I do not know how much it has to do with the blockchain.

ETH is a project about to end. Vitalik focused on his new project. The value of the ETH will soon fall. XRP can consolidate its position in the second row. I don't think the XRP will replace the ETH.

If we were happy with the centralized banking system then there were no need for cryptocurrency.

Recently Ripple is doing exceedingly well according to coinmarketcap statistics thought it is not decentralized but it's being popular day by day among the investors but we cannot deny Ethereum as it has lost its place to Ripple. Eth has decent potential it could fight back any time.

I do, that is why i bring banking to myself by investing in cryptocurrency.  CMC is just a number game, have a gazillion supply make some transaction on exchange and meet the requirement of $100k everyday for consecutive days then boom, you are now on CMC.  The hell you can even beat Bitcoin in CMC with those numbers.  It is plain and simple, CMC is broken.  It should not be used as basis on which coin or token is better.

No one cares about market caps, only newbies. If XRP were to release more coins into the circulating supply, the price will skyrocket, that doesn't make it any better than ETH, not by a mile. ETH has earned the trust of the crypto community throughout the years, it is the one of the most accepted cryptos in the world, it is also considered almost unanimously the best altcoin in the market, it would take more than a momentary 2nd place in the charts for a centralized bankers coin like XRP to take over Ethereum's place.

It is still a crypto but with a different attributes in it that is unique to the other altcoins, though i don't consider Ripple as the best as ETH and it doesn't mean that if it is in 2nd rank it means does it mean that it is a great altcoin, no. This is due to the most useful tokens that's why it is in that rank.

That's was your belief I think, I guess most of the members in the forum didn't agreed with your understanding about XRP, due to there are some of the community thinking that XRP was just giving a hyped to anyone to invest more in XRP ton increase its value, but the reality things happened now it was being controlled by the whale investors though I don't have any evidence about it.

It looks like XRP will stay in 2nd place above ethereum. In my opinion and knowledge, XRP is more in demand today because of its cheaper price from ethereum. That means if there is a risk of price reductions on XRP, XRP token holders will experience fewer fatal losses. Whereas in ethereum more often experienced a drastic decline. Maybe that's one of the main reasons. Please correct if my opinion is not correct.

Ripple defeated Ethereum because Ripple is currently more active in development, they announced big partnerships recently, while Ethereum still postpones its updates, thats the reason.

When it has been beaten by another coin, then it will go up. But soon it's going to be replaced again by ETH when its near to constantinople hard fork.

I can say that ETH is always good for long-term investment unlike XRP that good for trading because we do not know until when it going to live on the market. It depends on how you see the contest, if it is for utility and philosophy, ETH is thousands of times better than ripple, now if you see it economically, I think Ripple has the advantage, because ethereum is a platform designed to develop and ripple right now is negotiating with banks to implement payment methods, which according to many experts, is the future of cryptos.

Yeah XRP is going well last few months. In last few months xrp have many think thing that they announced and that pump a little bit the coin price and volume for xrp. And in other hand most of the platform based token is going down. I know market is down that's why the every coin price is low but platform tokens are going more down. Ethereum is still better they have some case that ripple become top 2 in the rank last few months ago but ethereum become rank 2 again. And I don't think ripple will be the best altcoins because the one and only best altcoins for now is the ethereum.

for quite some time it has been observed that ripple has managed to gain some degree of stability in the dwindling price of the cryptocurrencies compared to the ethereum. it always drops a few percentage below what it currently is valued at but that of ethereum drops a significant value in percentage.

I agree, XRP really showing the best team that works hard to improve their technology and that is why many investors are coming into this coin even if its a bear trend. ETH on the other-hand loses its top position maybe for some reason but for sure the price of this great coin will recover, I still love ETH compare to XRP but if you’re a serious investors you’d better to own this two great coin so you can have more profit.

I think XRP will beat Ethereum if ETH doesn't recover its price. As a lot of people gave up on ETH, more and more people are investing on Ripple. Although, there area a lot of bad reviews from XRP, they were able to erase them all because it pumped twice this year (not sure if that is the exact figure, I miss the others if I'm wrong). I hate to say this but we might have a new king on alts, disregarding the platform discussion side.

but it also depends on ETH, if there are still a lot of scam projects then it can endanger ETH itself. We must be vigilant even though we may expect that in the long term, ETH can return to position 2. However, people usually prefer coins that have position #2 so that it will be quite difficult for ETH to recover.

XRP market cap is actually 30B and is over half way to catch BTC (maybe next year ;D).  CMC is yet to reflect this.

there really isn't that much of a difference between the two coins. both of them are heavily centralized and are controlled by their companies that are funded. both have serious issues and both are pump and dumped which makes both equally profitable for traders and equally terrible for investors.

It still possible for the ethereum to claim back its former rank if its price go up again consistently but that recovery might take time. The price of the former second ranked cryotocurrency is still in decline and its market capitalization is decreasing if you compare to xrp, the current no.2 coin in the coinmarketcap. The implementation of ethereum 2.0 might help the coin its former rank.

Ripple does have good development, but it does not necessarily defeat eth. We know that eth has become a well-known ICO platform, many ICOs use it and a strong community. Maybe the eth level of trust is reduced and many are moving on the Ripple and this is a natural thing.

There are many talks about different competitors of Ethereum. I think that such ideas have no ground under itself. Don't be foolish to follow advices which recommend to change your attitude toward something but not an Ethereum.

I also believe that if XRP has bypassed Ethereum to date, this should not mean that we should now benefit this platform and purchase XRP coins. I think this overtaking is temporary, and next year will put these coins in their places, because in order to really get around in all of Ethereum, any project needs to try very hard in the development of its platform.

If you care about martket cappitalization only then yes.
But still Ethereum has bigger 24h volume, bigger team, more projects depend on Ethereum, more partnerships (Ethereum Enterprise alliance) and so on. So for me it is still the biggest altcoin :).

Of course the yardstick is in terms of price/trading volumes/market capitalization and when you look at coinmarketcap, XRP has surpassed ETH last month and still continue to take the second spot from Bitcoin. But there's still a lot of arguments against ETH, specially how it is controlled by the bankers or it is centralize coin. And I heard the ETH will have it's forked next month if I'm not mistaken so there's still a chance than it can regain its position and maybe we will see another ATH when this market started its bull run next year.

I think there are a lot of shortcomings in XP that I know xrp works for banks and if the bank does not provide services whether it is still possible that the company still gets a place in the coinmarket unlike ethereum which becomes an exchange rate and there is no wind that can harm it. .

That two coins is difference to each other. I blieve they have different potential of this coin. Ethereum possible become king of all cryptovurrency while the ripple possible it will become hundreds of dollars value in the neae future.

The capitalization level is all a game, especially if a centralized ripple type coin is involved in it. If desired, it can be pumped up and it will reach the top place in terms of capitalization. However, it will always be temporary. Ethereum proved this, once again ahead of ripple in terms of capitalization. Now ethereum again confidently exceeds the level of capitalization of ripple by one or two billion dollars. This was to be expected.
