Title: What do you think is the best alternative to Ethereum?
Post by: blockchain2k on October 16, 2018, 06:30:18 PM
Ethereum is holding a very strong 2nd position, but eventually, in the long term something will overtake it as a better blockchain protocol. What do you think it is going to be and why?

For years I have heard the Ethereum was the best and it was going to take BTC place, as it was "a better blockchain protocol".

Now you are already looking for another one? Eth is still number 2 and it is holding there well ahead of the others, in total market capitalization, transactions per day,  usage, etc...

I don't see any competitor now that could potentialy take its place. NEO and EOS are the most obvious competitors, however EOS is highly bugged and experimental mainnet, and NEO is still strugling to prove itself.

yes EOS and NEO are now competing to be the best and it seems like I think if one of them will take the second place that is replacing ETH in the future because now I see ETH experiencing a very unnatural price decline

These kind of question are normally been asked by potential investors that would really like to hit up some 100-1000x of growth just like on what happened to ETH when it was just starting and as you said there are already possible competitors but i dont really see that they would able to surpass ETH on a short period of time.Possible but wont really be a sure thing to happen yet we know on whats the capability of ETH platform.

yes this is very possible because there are several competitors for ethereum especially since the emergence of EOS and I think EOS is its strongest competitor but I am not talking about its position in the CMC but I am talking about its role in cryptocurrency and ICO sustainability

Personally I have not seen ethereum's competitors for now. If EOS and NEO are the most powerful candidates to replace, I don't think that in the near future. This means that it still takes a long time. All require a truly real process.

Yeah, I agree with you. As it stands ETH is much better then Bitcoin yet it's still the 2nd in rank so if I think there is any other coin to overtake ETH then I'd think EOS stands a chance. The decentralized computing network offered by EOS definitely has its growing pains for now, and there are CPU and RAM issues abundant, but I think that given time and opportunity to grow, EOS will overtake ETH as number 2, particularly if Vitalik leaves.

Ethereum has scalability problems and unlimited emission so the main competitor will successfully solve these problems in short time and I see 2 potential projects like ETH killers - QuarkChain and Pchain but DYOR!

EOS isn't a decentralized computing network because it isn't decentralized. The entire EOS blockchain is completely under the control of the 21 Block Producers who can do anything they want - reverse transaction, freeze accounts, seize your coins. They create new EOS out of thin air every day to reward themselves for the privilege. It is buggy and expensive to use. Meanwhile, most of the dev team have already cashed out and left, and it won't be long before Dan Larimer follows suit (again! See: Bitshares and Steem). Not even mentioning the fact that there seems to be a new EOS hack pretty much every week.

EOS won't overtake Etherum because EOS is a scam.

because Ethereum competition has a lot and of course they are more thinking of ways that their platform can defeat Ethereum, so if Etheruem doesn't make progress, then I'm sure there will be lots of coins that can defeat Ethereum because the coin will definitely make a better platform than Ethereum, so a lot of people who will use their platform rather than Ethereum.

in my opinion the most suitable one to replace Ethereum if only the Ethereum position was taken then the coin should be NEO, but it probably wouldn't happen, remembering that the history of Ethereum is very good

None. At least for the next 5 years. Just see what people are suggesting in this topic.

Eos? Neo? Two extremely centralized projects controlled by no more than 10 people with a huge power to reverse actions and transactions in the blockchain. Of course, in this crazy market can pass for a few days the market cap. But they will never pass the utility that a decentralized platform goes through.

Ethereum will have several great news in the coming months when it will become a PoS project and scalable while maintaining a degree of decentralization. The only project that can come close is Cardano. But that will depend on SHELLEY's success and its ability to offer governance different from anything we have.

Stellar maybe or now we called Lumens. Their coins is still survived until now and have potential especially when they will adopted for a tokens too. Too bad Waves can't really reach ETH's popularity.

Currently, in addition to Ethereum, we have many other cryptos that can replace it. Some potential cryptos are XRP, EOS, LTC, ADA, XLM. These cryptos are almost all in the top 10 of the most powerful cryptos on the market so you can choose any crypto to invest in, and I usually invest in EOS then hold.

For now, I don't see any good alternative for ETH and I think the reasons why the ETH marketcap dropped because of ASIC miners and the price drop a lot.
I'm a fan of ETH honestly, but they promise before that they are ASIC resistant, after the release of ASIC miners the price of ethereum start to fall and huge of GPU miner stopped and sold.

Anyway, if you are just looking for the alternative the top 10 coins on the CMC are good alternatives, but you can try BCH it is the best alternative for me.

In my opinion eth will stay same place in next 10 years at least. I can not see any potential of other altcoins to be new eth. also we dont need new ethereum. You know we are also not need new btc and so we dont need new ethereum. Btc and eth are really good coins with amazing technology . So i can not say anything about eth. Eth is the king and it will be king also in the future.

EOS is an over rated platform. ADA is much better compared to the EOS. Even a lot of people are need paying some EOS before they can try to create their own wallet. Remember it's a centralized blockchain that all of controls of EOS blockchain is not decentralize. UTNP should become the best alternative in the future.

Ethereum is indeed my mainstay coin that is able to produce even more profits with the many profit opportunities we can get. in addition to Ethereum, there is Litecoin which is an alternative to Ethereum, which produces high prices and values with its increasing development.

Maybe we need to try to invest on another coins that have good potential in the future. Aside from ETH I really want to buy for neon and xrp for this is very strong coins and have active community. There are still lots of coins to buy only the capital is  the problem for me.

I think the next blockchain protocol that might overtake ethereum blockchain is EOS blockchain, the reason is that EOS blockchain is more scalable and more secured than the Ethereum blockchain. EOS is the latest blockchain technology in the cryptocurrency sphere.

I think that is perfectly suited to be the alternative coins Ethereum is IOTA. I do a lot of talking about the coin which indeed became the mainstay Altcoin me in every development and results for the benefit of any of the coins I earn.

EOS is more secured? Don't make me laugh. You've really not been paying attention:

Your best bet right now, if you are holding any bags of this trash coin, is to sell ASAP while there are still bigger idiots wanting to buy it. EOS is a corrupt, centralized scam.

I don't think there are any coins on the market that can replace Ethereum. We have seen many projects, such as EOS, ADA and NEO, which all say they have to go beyond Ethereum, but we still don't see which one achieves this goal.

It seems to me that the direct and most important competitor of Ethereum is EOS. Recently, a lot of projects are being created on the EOS blockchain, which is good news, just a good opportunity to acquire EOS, while the price is very small.

There are several blockchain infrastructure project which will give tough competition to ethereum blockchain such as cardano, stellar, tron, IOST, EOS, NEO and Zilliqa but not replace the 2nd position from the ethereum very soon.  As huge number of the projects are using ethereum blockchain,  chances for other competitors are minimum to to dethone ethereum from the 2nd rank. Out of this competitors I feel Zilliqa is the true future competitors of ethereum as they are implementing sharding technology before ethereum putting ethereum out of competition miles away. Zilliqa already have successful testnet and achieve transaction throughput of around 2000TPS without any problem using sharding technology. Zilliqa launching its mainnet on January 2019 along with huge planning and partnership for mass adoption. Zilliqa is the true competitor of ethereum and  will be more scalable and secure as compare to other blockchain projects.

There are tons of perspective altcoins that can be used for payments. The best alternative is NEO or you can also look at XLM. These two coins have huge perspectives. Their blockchain is also great, so you can see them as an alternative to the most trusted altcoin.

Many altcoins being competitive to ethereum until this year so one of it I see a good chance is Eos. It spreading the good features in crypto industry during this time. And, I think of in the coming years their is development but we do not know actually can happen in crypto.

TRON is actually a good alternative for ETH. But, I'm not saying that TRON is better than ETH, only if you don't trust ETH at all. TRON is really challenging the ethereum blockchain. Don't think that ETH is dying, its down trend is due to the down market.

I think in the crypto market this is fair and very competitive. If any currency is good and has great potential, it can also be overcome by another currency. Because of that, the rules of competition not only ETH and ETH will have to be better if you want to keep the second place.

We can not predict whether new encryption will replace ETH in the future. ETH is the best encryption currency. Other competitors or imitators do not have market capitalization and crowd size like ETH.

Next to ethereum i like the waves platform quite well. If the evolution goes on, it could someday be a real competition to ethereum. But if it really comes to that, i can not really say.
