the altcoin is not going to be forgotten that easily. it is still the simple way of creating shitcoins and making money from them and also it is an easy way of pump and dumping for traders who want more profit on their bitcoins and have no better way of doing so. dumps of this year is not the first dumps of history, they happen too often actually. and they never kill shitcoins.

I don't know about that, the only time that the market has been good for altcoins has been the bull in the beginning of the year, now the coins are all struggling. But I do think that the coins have all gained a lot of exposure this year due to the bull. There will be a long drought following this but yea I am with you, mcafee is surely going to get what is coming to him

Calm your ass down.  If you had some actual patience you would see your investments turn around.  Crypto markets are volatile, go back and look at the past crashes.  We always rebound and come back stronger.

Its part of the cycle man, alts will come back because....well...human psychology, its that simple, people will speculate on alts to make money. There will be another altcoin bull run similar to the spring of 2017.

Its not only altcoins but cryptocurrency in general is in a bad state right now. As I can remember when bitcoin was in its peak all other coins were also carried along. A lot has benefitted from their long held altcoins as well as their ICO tokens too. I’m hopeful those seasons will happen again before this year ends.

2018 hasnt been a good year for bitcoins but for altcoins I can say there has been more than 1000 ICOs that has successful raised money for their project though some scam and shitcoins and I guess it is part of the cause of bitcoins not getting enough push from investors.

What I think is that the 2018 is currently not a good year for Bitcoin and some famous altcoins  like Eth, XRP, Monero, Neo, and others because with Bitcoin's rise altcoins get their rise in shares as well.

Some News sites and their experts have predicted that Bitcoin will reach to $60k by the end of 2018, but as of now there is no chance to see Bitcoin to climb that ladder. Some have speculated that Ethereum will reach around $3K per coin or higher but from the current markets situation it seems impossible.

I know that many ICO's have raised enough money for them to take part in the race but unfortunately many of them scammed the investors and took their money. The Cryptos are unpredictable as the market is really not stable because anything can change its situation towards good levels or bad levels.

2018 is the year of ICO explosion where  most project is a scam. It was created to just collect funds and forgotten. There are many projects that has no clear intention, almost everyday there is a token created. But I think this is a good year wherein a regulation is being talk about to curb fraud  and be serious about this digital innovation.

That is why at that time we were not too concerned about the altcoin situation at that time. Yes, for 2018, most of Altcoin experienced a very drastic price decline, such as Ethereum, which experienced a very deep price decline. Nearly if not all the  predictions for 2018 are off. Everyone had expected the the market to continue its run from 2017 but it soon lost momentum. After being a part of the 2017 bull run and the 2018 bear market, I can say that the good ol days would soon be here again. Maybe soon, maybe later. It doesn't necessarily have to happen in 2018. What are you talking about? that this year is the year of altcoin? If that is the case, I believe the altcoin year is 2017 when all of them are very strong. This year is the year of many ICOs, and in the next few years we will have useful products with blockchain technology.

This year has been a bit awful for all coins including the big players in the industry. The year has been in such a way that the bull run that took place at the latter part of the year 2017 has to be corrected for the industry to see the real value of certain tokens that were inflated because of the bull market. By so doing, people are really complaining of the bad market but to me, it really looks like we are normalizing things as a way of going forward in the industry.

Due to the bull that Altcoins got at the start of the year they gained a lot of exposure because of it. For me, the year 2018 is the year of scammer and fraud crypto altcoins project. Face the reality, for 10 projects.. 6-7 of them is scam and no real products at all. I would have believed it at the very beginning of this year, because this year the altcoins had at least some hope, because the big things did not go up in price this year, and of course BTC did not rise this year.

It seems not to be a huge year for altcoin or either Bitcoin since the market is still filled with red marks until this point. Thinking of such thing would be absurd and might just result to disappointment given that market behavior is way unpredictable this year. Obviously, observing and being patient would be the best thing to do for now in order to avoid making the situations far even worst. Well, yes. Altcoin has shown some proof that it won't be out of market that easily this year. The stability and reliability of altcoin increased a lot and it might do a lot better in the upcoming year.

I would not say that this year can be called the year of the altcoins. Is that the year of unfulfilled hopes for the Altcoins. This year, the price of altcoins has often dropped by 90 percent. Such a bad year for the Altcoins, probably, was not yet.

Well 2018 have been a very challenging year for crypt occurrent due to the high market fall almost all the coins in the market have bleeded heavily in this year and at the same time so money cryptocurrency project have been unsuccessful due to the fall in market demands for cryptocurrency but am very optimistic that in some years to come cryptocurrency is going to gain wider ground that will result in great success of the whole cryptocurrency world. For example, ETH, EOS, NEO, ADA,.....all of these altcoins are dumping really hard but so many investors still focus on these coins cause they're good altcoins :). Remember last year that many people predict that bitcoin price will not cross 10k usd before the end of 2017 but the opposite happened. Bitcoin price was trading near 20k usd before the end of the year 2017. Also many altcoin gave people better ROI than bitcoin.

I don't think that the coins are going to get dumped and forgotten but there is a lot of things that is going to happen to the coins and there is going to be a mass die out of scam coins in the coming years. I think that 2018 will be remembered for all the fact that the cryptocurrency market fell 3 times. This year, growth should not be expected, the maximum that can happen is a small market growth.

I don't think so man during current market ICO projects struggle a lot during the crowdsale and even bonus pre-sale stages don't make a difference.

Imho gold era of ICO ended. We will see new format (STO for example) or other changes. But ICO in the current view ended definitely. Nobody want to pay for dream only. Many team has nothing before fund raising. That's why those scam paradise need to end

Last year in these times, i was thinking that 2018 would be the year of altcoins rise. But i was wrong. 2018 has become the year of altcoins fall. Unfortunately. But i believe that in couple years, altcoins are gonna rise.

A lot of coins are getting dumped this year. True this year gave the altcoins a lot of exposure but it also meant that it brought a lot of newbies into the market who did not understand how the coins worked and now they are all dumping the coins that they got when the market was still in the bull. Personally, I do not consider this year the best / successful one for altcoins and in general for all crypto-currencies, since the whole current year the market is under the control of bears, it is difficult for this project to conduct ICO, issue its token and negotiate with exchanges. Therefore, everyone is waiting for the recovery of the market, and I hope that next year will become more successful for the cryptocurrency industry.

Okay, I do not share your thought. It was a bad year for the most of investors, but a great year for the industy, because there are a tons of innovations on the market.

All of us who invested in cryptos dislike the current situation we have in our hands, but there is little to do. I sold my main bags ln February when we had this second uptrend for a brief moment. This decision was purely made on my gut feeling. And right now my gut feeling is that 2019 will be probably a year-long stagnation where crypto will be not entirely forgotten but probably will be rarely mentioned in wider media.


2020 will start showing signs of improvement and probably the next bull will take over in 2022/2023. Will keep an eye on the crypto market ;).

This is tragic news. Many altcoins that started in 2018 may be on the road to death. Due to the decline of bitcoin, many altcoins are facing death. Perhaps these altcoins will disappear in the future.

I agree with you, most of the existing digital coins have no real value. Some of them were originally created as frauds, some are unsuccessful projects. The cryptocurrency market should be cleared of them.
