Title: Why has the cryptocurrency market been so stagnant this month?
Post by: Goodvalony on October 19, 2018, 09:03:15 AM
For over two months Now, the market has been stagnant. No show of a solid bull in the market. some of my trading friends have abandoned there accounts believing that it might take months before we can see a bull market.
WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE REASON BEHIND THE MARKET SLOW MOVEMENT?

Didn't you know that it's way better to see crypto market like this. It removed those people who are just into crypto because of 2017 hype. We saw the real bottom, we saw what price level is not a joke, we saw everything etc.

Your friends abandoned their accounts? Then they really don't know what they are doing.

Honestly most people are so much excited for the bull run but when it comes they didn't know how to deal on it.

Not that they abandoned there account but they switched to forex trading saying that it is more comfortable and predictable to them that crypto markets. i was confused at the first instance because i thought for someone trading forex must have been a professional. such person will not have difficulties trading the crypto market. but it didn't happened. so i asked again, is there much difference between trading crypto and forex?

If you feels the market is taking too much time to ecover then you also may take a break from the trading if you are a trader but this is the time for you buy the coins if the bull run comes everything will be out of your hand so buy now and wait until the market goes bullish,Yes I am also feeling that it may take few months for that to be happen.

it is been stabilized to avoid the excess pump and dump. Also we are yet to hear any solid News about crypto. especially the SEC that postponed making any Key decision on cryptocurrency since August. watch the market closely since august and you will notice that there has not been any major change till date.

Lot of differences there first of all the crypto currencies are highly volatile and impossible to determine what will happen but in forex trading you can analyze what will happen when you research about current world's economy. Then no break in the crypto trading but in forex trading you need to take a break at weekends. And the inflation has big role in forx trading but it may not be a big aspect in crypto trading so finally you need to have lot of analytical skills if you want to be forex trader.

Your friends could not continue because they were scared of the expectations by almost every body that market will bull this season coming and so, they don't want to blame themselves.

... is there much difference between trading crypto and forex?

Seriously their volatility differentiates them, making cryptos very risky. Second is that, you can analyze forex market, it seem like a physical trade you do more-or-less but crypto is not that way. Your analysis on cryptos might not make any sense.  ;D

disappointments, this is the big reason. You see, people when they create high expectations, easily have great disappointment on the day that those high expectations are not matched. Last year the price of bitcoin did not stop rising and then the price fell from $ 20,000 to $ 6000, People were disappointed and left cryptos. today the demand is very little and not even good news are not causing the price to increase. Then we have the governments with their regulations, we have many ICOs created by scammers, all these facts are causing that there are no more big price increases. But this also has its advantages, for example: the price of bitcoin is stable.

Because a lot of them have lost so much already so they're not coming back unless there's some catalyst like Bitcoin ETF or Bakkt physical Bitcoin offerings. But just look at the bright side and take this opportunity to accumulate more bitcoins or even altcoins.

Another possible reason is that majority have learn their mistakes. So they evolved and are now getting smarter. They wouldn't just put their money in a struggling market. Its hard to do day trading as well, which I believed what's left for seasoned and veteran traders to make good profits. But for us casuals its difficult and not our thing so we might as well distance ourselves for now.

I'm not sure if you have ever traded on the forex market, but it's definitely not granting you an advantage over crypto just because people have more history and fundamentals to fall back on.

In all markets the far majority of the participants lose, where only a very small percentage (mostly well below 10%) actually manages to make a profit. Forex trades are educated guesses, and that's really it.

Another thing is that most forex traders all use leverage to utilize the smaller movements to the largest possible extent. Depending on the broker, you could lose way more money in a single trade than what you initially put in.

It's a dangerous environment people severely underestimate.

We fo not know the exact reason why this is happening but i am sure many people are pulling out their investment that is why demand is continuous decreasing and reflecting it in the value and people does not want to buy right now and they are waiting for the deepest value of every coin in the market

Abandoned their accounts? what accounts are those? it doesn't matter if they will just leave their wallets and bitcoins, they can comeback anytime as they wish. That's how you'll take things if you are pissed off of the market, you need to relax and stay away from it.

The reason could possibly be, there's low demand as of the moment and that can't be controlled if there are no new money coming in to the market. We need to wait for the hope of institutional money come soon when Bakkt starts to operate, don't hope for an ETF anymore.

Slow? Watch the volumes, they're slowly and quietly creeping up the charts, on p2p anyway, which simply means more people are trying out exchanging with each other, which is a good thing in my book, the way Bitcoin was meant to be and how it works best.

Price isn't everything, in fact it is almost meaningless in the scheme of adoption. Everything happening and growing under the radar, as it has been for years.

Some of the reasons are hacking and vulnerability of trading exchanges, rules and regulations from countries and the restriction of advertsement of ICO in social media, google and other platforms of the internet. This are the bad news bitcoin is facing right now that's why it's in a bearish cycle.

Many are scared away by volatility. But in Forex you are forced to create volatility artificially, using leverage and risking losing everything every time.
Perhaps it was a time of excitement, a bottom and frustration came. The next stage is rationality and real work. Stable, but slow market growth. I believe in it.

The market is still unable to rise sharply because the number of investors expects the value of the bulls to stop cutting or taking too big profits, which makes many coins unable to grow. I think it's going to take a lot of time to get back to the end of 2017.

I would not call what we have now as stagnant, this is just a market that is obviously just trying to find a direction and since bitcoin is the main driver of the market train, we guess we will just have to wait for bitcoin to pick the winning side, either the bulls or the bears, and with that we will get to see the market also picking a side based on bitcoin's movement. Patience is all you just need at this point in time and as long as you understand that there is a future, and for the fact that the market is still young and there is chance for huge growth in the long run, then you will want to be taking advantage of the market now.

Honestly most people are so much excited for the bull run but when it comes they didn't know how to deal on it.
That is the thing with a lot of people, they are just so much in a haste to see the market growing up even if there is nothing to even be driving the market up than speculation and this is the main reason why this market keeps becoming a more speculative market and then we tend not to be seeing any form of real life usage. Anyone who wants to abandon their accounts, then probably like you said they have no understanding of what they are doing at all. Apparently, some of those guys who just see trading of the market as a joke and really have no knowledge on how to trade a market effectively.

If you have not noticed, then look at the chart and see that the market is in a bad mood and a downward channel since January this year. This is a normal situation after a huge growth of all tokens. The bottom would be soon reached and pushed off again, we should go up.

This should be a normal scenario in the market because of large growth of different kinds of tokens. But after that we all hope everything will go back to normal and bitcoins value will risd again. There is a decreasing of demand while tokens are getting more in the market which result to market down.

Many people say that the state of the market now stagnant because traders are reluctant to enter the market because they read a lot of negative news which often circulates. But I believe this situation will soon to ends at the end of this year.

there may be some cases that make cryptocurrency in a place of exchange or market not subject to price movements, one of which may be due to reduced demand factors and fewer interested in cryptocurrency so that a stable market condition does not have much movement.

the stagnant happened not only for this month but for the whole year of 2018 , it all started in the mid of january up until today but i dont actually know the real cause of it  . maybe some investors have already left the building because they are afraid that they can loose what they already earned last year , instead they will now be using it for more stable business outside the crypto scene .

but lets not forget that if someone leaves , there will be also new investors that will enter . maybe not this year but maybe next year .

The expectation of the cryptocurrency market has diminished considerably after a long time in 2018 the market continued to fall deeply. Many investors waiting for the market to recover in the end of the year should buy a lot of low value coins and wait to sell at the end of the year, which makes buying demand at this stage very so it can not make the market grow.

Crypto price stability will be greatly influenced by how the existing demand factors. I think the current condition is very good to show a good climate of stability. It's rare for crypto to get this condition. But conditions like this actually are also detrimental to all of us, namely that we find it difficult to get the momentum to take advantage of the selling and buying margins. Let's just wait and see what will happen, I'm sure that there will be a bright future and we will all arrive at a very good phase in the future.

Its really one of the reason why they don't want to get in.

But as the market goes through year by year, corrections do often happen after usual big rise so this is still normal. It has been stagnant nearly a year now and we can't be sure of it if this can continue up to 2019 or we will see the reversal by that time.

I think in this month, every coin have trying to rise again and we can see the market is on the way to increase. Every coin wants to show the power, and each coin now starts to lift the price. The reason of this is because in the new year, bitcoin dropped too deep and people become panic, and they want to save their money by selling their bitcoin, and it continues and makes the altcoin is followed to get down too. But soon, bitcoin and altcoin will rise again and will get the new position of the price.

From what happened late 2017, so many people moverd into crypto and heavy money was pushed into the market and we witnessed an exponential growth. But now all of those money have gone off and alot of those who came in then have left as well. Therefore the stagnancy. My two cents though.

I personally do not know for sure, but this stagnant market does not happen in just a month, I feel the market is stagnant throughout this year which only struggled at $6k occasionally dropped lower and also rise until there was hope to touch $10k, but in fact returned to $6k. With that incident, I just feel if this year is a year of rest for traders and investors, it is possible, because market movements are not good enough, even though we like to expect prices to stabilize, but with a situation like this we will find it difficult to get a good return on investment we.

This market is far much better than what we saw for last 8 month this year. So many new investors entered the market thinking Bitcoin will reach the price of 50k. Unfortunately, it did not happen this year. They paniced, sold, suffered losses and then left the market. This was the reason that caused Bearish market. Now they are reluctant to enter again, fearing more losses.

A climate of stability that I always classify as the moment of fight between the bulls and the bears, between demand and supply which depending on the direction the market tend towards that would determine the next leg we are going to be taking at the moment.

For anyone who is an aggressive trader, I would say being stagnant in the month is just a means of accumulation and depending on where the break out would be, is what would determine where you want to be placing your stop loss and looking at the reward as well. For now, all we can actually do like you said is to wait and see what happens of the market.

alot of people are scared of investing as well due to the high rate of volatility.

Slow movements and less volume are always normal when the market is trying to find a direction. We all know bitcoin movement generally controls the market and for now bitcoin is just in the middle of the bulls and the bears and it depends on who wins the fight in this scenario.

It is a normal thing to see this once in a while, and like I once said, it always usually ends up in a triangle which is what we are having now. I would not consider movement in between $6000 and $7000 to be stagnated as far as I am concerned though.

But another question I have is, do you want that price to keep bulling all the time? Even a lot of people would still complain about that, there was a Bull last year in the market so I don’t know why you’re still expecting the same thing to be repeating itself. Just take things as it is, nothing more.

Whatever, I just think they deserve what they faced or weren’t they told that Bitcoin is volatile? If something can go up as such speed then what do you expect? It will also drop the same way when it drops, so people should always make proper plans before investing in Bitcoin because they already knows what will happen, but there greediness would not allow them think properly.

I can say that is the first reason for the cryptocurrency market that continues to experience price declines. Until now, most investors will make information as their benchmark to start an investment, if the information only has a temporary effect on price conditions they will not enter to buy, they are waiting for an information that will have an impact on the cryptocurrency industry. And now I have heard about the issue, hopefully it will change the cryptocurrency market to trigger price increases.

Everyone should always be liable and responsible for the decisions they make as that is one thing that most people need to understand.

I remember when I opened a thread last year when the price of bitcoin was around $18k heading to $19k, and a lot of people were getting greedy and calling the moon, I brought about the discussion of the market being overbought and newbies should stay clear but what else after then, I was blasted for creating FUD most especially from newbies or wanting to block them for getting rich.

I have always believed this is a community and we should always be our brother's keeper and even if you talk from experience sometimes, it perturbs me when I see newcomers acting like they already know it all, when they do not even have a single clue of what they are doing except to just want to get rich overnight.

I do not even see any stagnancy here at all. If we are to consider something being stagnant, let's say for instance, bitcoin, then we should be talking about bitcoin just remaining at $6000 for days and weeks without even changing in price, now that is what I call stagnancy.

Even since around 15th October, we have been seeing some $100 changes steadily sideways, which to me is something that cannot be compared to being stagnant. The thing is that a lot of people just keep expecting huge volatility every time, but things do not work that way and it is not like the volatility is not there, which I believe the OP should wait for a break out and he will see.

This is good advice, but there are times that Is need to reflect and realize that it is time to leave the boat, I am not talking about bitcoin, but in the case of altcoins people should forget the spirits of HOLD and consider selling if necessary because many altcoins are shitcoins and just fall out of value and may never rise again

some exchanges are Scam as well.

I would say that over 50% of the exchange are scam

People like buying during bull run or bubble, not during dump :D

this happened because many analysts are making very high price prediction and people believe in these analysts

most likely because there is no good news and maybe no one is interested in cryptocurrency anymore because it has been traumatized when buying the cryptocurrency price at the end of 2017 yesterday the price is very expensive while the current price of bitcoin is very cheap, so the reduced demand will make Bitcoin prices are stagnant like this.

coming out new tokens, new iCOS, the price of BTC for those who bought more expensive is in hold, I believe that the market will improve only to 2020 or more, of course, the crypto and impossible market to predict and can at any time have a high and arousing global interest volume and price tend to oscillate creating more options of trade and new enthusiasts!

We have seen a lot of ups and down in the market in last few months, I think that the market is stable in current time because of the investors interest, but I think that it is good if the market is table and not doing down, I hope the investors are giving good support to the market and very soon we will see a good increase in bitcoin price.

Crypto currencies are still very young, I think still most of the people do not know about it, I hope that still people are taking more interest in crypto currencies, some bad news in the market make the price a little stagnant but I hope that it will not remain the same for a long time, I hope that very soon the price will recover.

There is no new demand, that is all what it is happening and I think your friends are mistaken this is not going to change in months it is possible this is going to take years, what I have noticed is that the people that entered the market last year are spoiled, they thought the market will always move like what we saw at the last year, but this stagnant market is also part of the reality of bitcoin and you need to accept it.

Don't skip 2019, there's more to come by this year and just don't let it pass. We may be stagnant for this year but there might be an unexpected event that would come on 2019.

Predictions are normal in the market and its easy to do but having an accurate or close to what will be the true outcome is hard to do. The slow movement now is fine because it happened in the past. Bitmex CEO spoke that the bear market would last up to 18 more months.

I agree with the answer you gave. Maybe the friend he meant was just less patient and didn't want to take risks.

because half people sell and buy are same value. other people still waiting to buy more and hold they small have to change another crypto they have. right now and over month ago crypto have negative and positif news are same too, not spesific and big news become like over years ago same month.

I think the reason behind is that people are half-hearted about crypto and they're making pulse about it if there will be a bullrun or the bearish months will still continue. Many still do not want to make major move, especially those who hold large amount of assets. Everybody's playing safe these days.

So you're saying that its more likely they negating itself, (buy/sell orders, positive/negative news) fair enough. But if we try to figure out the main reason why the price is not moving, despite a lot of positive news circulating around, perhaps investors are maturing, or maybe the 'business model' has shift, or the hype is no longer there. Really hard to say what's on investors mind right now.

Anyways, if you look at the bright side, fees are low, confirmation times are faster, and I personally used my bitcoin more than ever, as I believed that it become more of a currency because of the price stability we're currently witnessing.
